Great place. I’ve been trying to decide whether to go here because the other reviews were all over the place. It seems like the biggest complaints are due to failed expectations. So, here’s what to expect: — Great food. My wife and I both had the Furnace burger, and it might be the best in the area. I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up on a «Best in Hudson Valley» list at some point. The hard rolls were great, and the bacon they put on it was perfectly cooked. French fries were perfect. Even the garden salad was surprisingly good. Desserts were good but not amazing. — They had craft beer, including some local beers on tap. Yay! — Friendly, but not super fast service. It didn’t feel like it dragged, but it isn’t a place to go for a quick meal either. — Cozy, family friendly atmosphere. While we were there there was a very loud toddler in the room, but it was fine because it seemed like that’s what you would expect here. The setting is definitely not fancy. So, if you’re looking for fine dining or gourmet food, there are a ton of other places in the area. If you just want a great basic meal then this is a perfect spot. We’ll be back!

Went to the Iron Furnace for the first time, well really the second time. But the first was unsuccessful. It’s helpful to know what days of the week they serve lunch. On the second try we got it right. As described it is a pleasant, low-key place for lunch during the week. Lots of good choices on the menu, but we were all about burgers. So one Furnace burger(a savory meat concoction) and one regular cheeseburger well loaded. Perfectly cooked with xcellent fries and excellent service by Moira

Love this place. The clams are a must and ask for extra bread… Salads are perfect and the burger selection is a must! I’m a vegetarian and so happy that I always find something to eat. Love sitting in the bar has a great wood stove. The only suggestion is dinning room not tht a cozy and not inviting …

Maybe I went here on an off night, but it was nothing to write home about. The drinks were good, but 4 out of 6 people at my table were dissatisfied with dinner… from really tough overfried greasy chicken to tomato sauce that was more like ketchup. And dessert was odd as well… hopefully u like chocolate, bc if u order the death by chocolate, you get your monies worth, however 2 people at the table ordered the cheesecake and it was really really small for the price… service was half half… waitress was very nice, but seemed overwhelmed and the place was not that crowded. Good luck if u go there.

We’ve been here a few times for dinner, and tried several dishes of the menu. It’s consistently good! Service is always prompt and very friendly, and we always feel welcome. It has a homey feel to it, The Iron Furnace makes you feel like you’re with friends and family. The food we’ve tried is always super fresh and doesn’t taste like it was previously frozen or sitting for a while. Very good, tasty, comfort food all around. I love how you can personalize a burger whichever way you please, and I love that they have a veggie burger option that’s delicious. Another personal favourite, the shoestring fries :).

A nice little cozy place, furnace burger is fantastic, one of the best burgers. Menu has had little chane, so there is nothing new to entice me to come back more often. The biggest issue with the furnace is that the service is SOSLOW. You can sit there for an hour before your appetizers come out. My last visit, when asked the server why it was taking so long, she was short with us and borderline nasty. That ruined it for me.

Usually very good food, a great bar and nice little dining area. It is a local«gem» — and I really like the burgers, the chicken wings, good shoestring or sweet potato fries, and usually most of the other things on the menu including the«slumgullion». With that being said it is not«gourmet» food, it is solid above average — 2 steps up from diner food. Yes, the beets in the salad are canned, and some of the other sides are obviously not house-made, but it’s all usually pretty fresh and well put together. We used to go there a lot and sit in the bar area and order food as a group, but they have taken some our favorite beers off the menu and that actually has kept us away a little. They also tend to get«slammed» some nights and parking is tough, and on those nights the food can take a really long time to get. Some friends of ours waited almost an hour and a half for their dinners. But other than those nights the service is just fine.

Great food, you’re always treated like a neighbor. Has a really old fashioned tavern atmosphere, always lively in the pub, quieter in the dining room. «Furnace burgers» are the top choice, fries are shoestring style and fabulous!

Maybe they had an off night but I honestly can’t understand what the other reviewers experienced. Most of the food on the menu is deep fried. We had burgers and literally felt ill afterwards. The meat in the burgers seemed more like frozen patties than local fresh meat. There are so many farms in the area. The waitress was trying really hard and seemed nice but was frazzled and overwhelmed all evening. So many 5 star reviews from a few people should have set off an alarm.

A gem. If you’re heading up the Taconic, this is worth the slight detour. It’s like stopping off at your uncle’s living room for a warm, cozy meal. Pros: — Delicious, straightforward food. Burgers are solid — and you can customize every piece of it. Lots of unique toppings available like artichoke hearts and fried pickles. The shoestring fries are battered and fried, and delicious. But the showstopper is the chili with big chunks of ground beef and kidney beans with cheddar, green onions and(if you want them) pickled jalapeños. Absolute best chili I’ve had in a long time. — Attentive, amazing service — Kids menu — Separate restaurant and bar/tap room — Spotless bathroom Cons: — Honestly can’t think of one…

Came here finally after driving by almost every day. I was very surprised at how delicious the food was! Everything tastes fresh and home made.(No frozen foods) This place seems like it gets downplayed a lot maybe by its appearance but don’t doubt it. You won’t be disappointed. I will definitely be returning.

Drove past for years and stopped in for lunch a few weeks ago and can’t stop going. Soups are homemade and outstanding! Change daily but the onion soup is outstanding and always available. Burgers are one of a kind as you build your own and specials are just that, special.

My husband and I finally have a go-to place near home! Tom always greets us with a smile, knows who we are, and where we like to sit. Haven’t had a bad meal yet, tasty, prompt, not rushed. My husband even likes the wings! And although I am not a soup fan, I check the soup of the day before anything else. Yum :)

I brought my wife here tonight based on a recommendation of a guy from the gym I frequent. He raved about the burgers here. OK. I am very picky and demanding about my burgers. I like my burgers rare. I mean, I want to hear it Moo when I bite it. My wife and I started with Kettle One martinis, extra olives. Maura, the bartender and our server, made them perfectly. We ordered make-your-own burgers with fries burnt. I will say that the burgers were outstanding– rare, very tasty. I’ve paid more for lesser quality. The fries were abundant but not cooked as much as we like. We finished the meal with blueberry pie. It was tasty and not overly sweet. This place is a gem. We ate in the bar area. It is rustic and cozy. The Iron Furnace may be a neighborhood bar but the crowd is eclectic. We felt comfortable here. Maura is the jewel of this establishment. This now officially my go to burger place.

It might be that I’m not used to small town bars but I found this place to be a bit dingy. It kind of looks like a bar your dad would have in his basement. On the other hand, the bartender, Maura, was really sweet and put up with our shenanigans hours past when she declared closing time would be, so major props for her flexibility. Oh, and she makes a good Long Island!

Tried this restaurant for the first time and it was excellent! The bread was hot and crusty and the entrees were delicious. We had bluegrass chicken and a veggie burger. Dessert was the chocolate lava cake. So happy we finally found good food in the area.
