I went to Dr. Klope for a vasectomy after learning he specialized in the no needle, no scalpel technique. From the initial consult, to the actual procedure, I was thoroughly impressed by friendly staff, his knowledge, bedside manner, un-rushed demeanor, and surgical skill. He took the time to answer all my questions before, during, and after the procedure. As most guys would be, I was more than a little anxious on the day of surgery. He and his staff put me at ease, and three days later, I can say the pain and bruising I was worried about never materialized. For anyone considering vasectomy, I highly recommend Dr. Klope.

I could not thank this outstanding Urologist, Dr. Klope and his assistant Heidi enough for the way they in which they treated my husband and I during our second Cancer diagnosis in 3 years. He is a gifted surgeon in the field of urology. From the minute my husband and I sat down with Dr. Klope his bedside manner was one of reassuring confidence coupled with compassion. It was truly one of the best medical practice experiences we’ve ever had. In fact it restored my faith in the medical profession. I want to thank Dr. Klope and Heidi from the bottom of my heart

My dad had to go to the ER for a kidney stone. After discharge, they asked us to make an appt with a urologist at the Medical Plaza. We tried. My dad was in so much pain and they wouldn’t see him for at least 2 weeks. They said we could have pain meds but that they just couldn’t squeeze us in. They had the test results. They knew he’d need surgery. I called around and everyone was pretty booked. Dr Klope was pretty busy too, but they could get my dad’s results too(CMH shares tests with certain local offices) and immediately agreed to see my dad. He did need surgery and they scheduled him for the following week. Pain was still involved, and my dad wasn’t exactly happy, but no one is with kidney stones. Dr. Klope’s staff was helpful and kind, and Dr. Klope himself was great. I am also switching doctors so that I can be his patient. I would highly suggest him.

Dr. Klope did a good job but my billing was all messed up at first they knew I was low income and only had medi-cal plus a really crappy insurance but then they still said it’s okay it will be an ER visit to the hospital and the med-ical should work there. It ended up to not work and I have to pay a whole bunch of money that I do not have. I would have just gone to a clinic and waited a month or so just because I don’t have the money to pay for this bill.

Doctor Klope himself seemed pretty knowledgeable, and nice enough. I had some complications from a vasectomy done by another doctor, and that doctor sent me to Klope for a second opinion. So basically my choices to alleviate the pain were 1. have the vasectomy re-done, which would make any future reversal virtually impossible,(and could easily have the exact same complications again) or have the vasectomy reversed, which is a more involved(read: expensive) procedure. I just wanted him to put everything back where it was because I’m sick of these side effects and I didn’t want to have no option of a reversal in the future. Dr. Klope wasn’t sure if my insurance would approve the more involved procedure but he promised that he would give it his best shot. He even commented that it would take his«best writing he’s ever done». I understood that he might not be successful in getting it approved but I was grateful that he would at least try. Then about a week later, I get a message from his office manager that my diagnosis code and the procedure codes don’t match up so the procedure would not be approved so they weren’t going to submit anything to the insurance. That was confusing to me because I knew they were going to at least try to get it approved. but she said that they wouldn’t even try. She told me I could call and try to get it approved but that she wasn’t going to waste her time because in the past she hasn’t gotten something like this to go through. So, I called my insurance company and even talked to the pre-approval department that is for providers only, and they told me that the provider can fill out a one page form explaining why the procedure is medically necessary and that would be reviewed as to whether that procedure could be approved. I left a message for Dr. Klope’s business manager with that number and explanation of the preapproval process. When I followed up the next day she told me that even if the insurance pre-approves the procedure she still won’t schedule it because there’s no guarantee the insurance company will pay the claim even though they pre-APPROVED it. But I was welcome to pay $ 9,000 up front if I wanted to. I’m not sure why they told me I could call the insurance company myself for the pre-approval if they didn’t plan on moving forward with a pre-approval anyway. I have no idea if Dr. Klope is competent or not, but whether or not someone follows through on what they say they are going to do is important in my book, especially for a physician, so for that reason I would recommend going somewhere else.
