My review is quite limited because my logic goes something like this: Order twist cone for $ 2.60-something-cents. If I can finish my twist cone, I will reward with an actual non-dairy food item with protein. Devour twist cone before it melts. Take nap. No protein reward. So, as far as the soft-serve the size of the miniature Eiffel tower goes… it’s a win.

Quite the nice little spot in downtown Ventura, about 5 miles beyond downtown clear lake. Emphasis here is on little as the place boasts a total of 6 seats at a bar and a table for two inside. Plenty of seating outside however. The menu is standard small diner fare. Burgers, tenderloins, hot dogs and tons of ice cream varieties exist are at your disposal. We had a bacon burger, a tenderloin and a hot dog. All were good, not incredible — about what to you’d expect from a place like this. The ice cream is soft serve and there are 5 or 6 varieties. The tornado is their version of a blizzard and unfortunately only has pieces of your chosen accompaniments over top rather than blended in. I had the crispy dip cone which was a big softserve cone with peanuts, sprinkles and crispies! It was delightfully done. The cone sizes are gigantic here — a small is as big as a large elsewhere. A lovely place to check out when the weather’s nice. Better for ice cream than food, but good for both. Worth hitting up for sure!

Tiny drive-up restaurant near the center of Ventura, Iowa. If you are biking or driving around Clear Lake you will ride right by it. Think of it as refreshment for the home stretch, or as a place to sit and savor a classic burger, chilli dog, or chicken sandwich. Portions are ample and tasty. Soft serve ice cream cones are a must to top off any meal at the Viking. Great shakes and sundaes. Visit with friendly people if you sit at the small counter(about six seats). The restaurant is named after the athletic teams of the nearby high school(the Ventura Vikings). They were the Vikings a looooong time before there were Minnesota Vikings. This is a classic place to go on a warm summer evening.
