Excellent food, great menu, super nice family that runs this place. We’ve been here about 6 times in the past 2 years and love it every time. Good luck getting a table some nights as they have a healthy following.

I went here for the lunch buffet, which is only $ 9.99 on weekdays. There wasn’t a massive selection of dishes, but I haven’t been to an Indian restaurant where there was. I was, however, impressed by the quality and taste of the food. My favorite was the Chicken Tikka Masala over their yellow rice(forgot the name). The naan was also delicious and incredibly fresh. Our server was very attentive and another gentleman, whom I believe was the manager, cordial and friendly. It was a smaller place but had a unique atmosphere, contributed in large part by the downtown vibe. I don’t think I’ve been to a better Indian restaurant and the high ratings received by this establishment are no coincidence. I highly recommend giving this establishment a shot when you’re in the mood for some great curry.

The Taj Café showed my fiancé and myself the epitome of customer service tonight. The entire staff treated us with brilliant service, care, and attention to detail. This coupled with their beautiful and comfortable atmosphere, astounding menu, talented cooks, and all around amazing food; made our spontaneous date-night meal into a beautiful memory! The lamb tikka masala, chicken korma, garlic Naan, and rice pudding were wonderful! We were given a complimentary appetizer, which I apologize I cannot pronounce, that was a delicious onion appetizer with a cool and savory yogurt. They great took care and our drink were always graciously filled before we even thought to ask. This was a top-notch meal that was very fairly priced. Thank you to all the staff, we truly appreciate it!

By far the best Indian food we’ve had! We stopped here on the way home from Ojai to LA and couldn’t have been happier with the quality of food and service! Our server Singh even brought us a complimentary appetizer AND dessert!

We visited this restaurant on our way back to LA from the Memorial Day weekend trip. I’m glad that we did! We were starving and we ordered Sev purity, aloo paratha, paneer makhni, chilli Naan. They were all delicious. Especially the sev puri! Service was great as well. I will definitely get back when I get a chance.

WOW. The BEST Indian cuisine that I have experienced since my return to California! Crowded and busy on a holiday weekend evening, the food was outstanding and the service spot-on for such a busy place. Try the puffed rice appetizer(name??), very unusual and uniquely flavorful. I would endorse anything and everything on the ‘special’ menu. And our reward for a perfect experience, 50% OFF coupons on our next visit. OUTSTANDING!

Ordered Chicken Vindaloo, Mutton biryani, sev puri, ginger soda, rotis We were also given complimentary daal. Coming from the Bay Area our standard for the evening was — get me some acceptable Indian food for tonight and gtfo. Eating at the Taj surpassed the standard by a mile! A delectable experience. The customer service was excellent. The sauces for the chaat were so fresh! What a refreshing difference from the Bay Area — oh so you want chaat, here is the tamarind sauce that is made of 80% sugar and a mint sauce that was made last week. Freshness was a hallmark of all dishes and one can only wish they operate in the Bay Area. $ 60 for two people with tip — a bit on the higher side but worth the experience.

Had dinner with my friend. Great food, friendly staff and great service. Try the rose ice cream. Fast service. Authentic Indian food. Very nice ambience. Loved the baingan bharta. Was visiting from Nyc and it’s as good if not better than Indian food from there

A truly enjoyable dining experience. My mother and I felt that this was the best Indian food we have had and we have eaten at many Indian restaurants. The Garlic Tikka Tandoori was perfectly cooked. The service was excellent. I did not have to ask for anything, drinks were kept full. More food than we could eat. I will be back.

Why is this place so delicious?! I love Indian food… especially since they have so many vegetarian options… and this place does not disappoint! Pros: –So easy to get to-go –Best garlic naan!!! –Always give coupons for lunch buffets –Best samosas –Husbands favorite: Chicken Tikka Masala –My favorite: Vegetable Korma Cons: –Kind of on the pricier side for me… In northern California indian restaurants/food was a few dollars cheaper

I wish that there was a 4.5 rating as The Taj Café is solid. I only ate here once(so far) and I rarely give five stars on my first review. The service was terrific, friendly, attentive, and fast but not too fast. The food was very yummy and tasty. I of course really enjoyed the garlic nann and the food overall here.

I love Indian food and came across a Groupon deal at $ 12 for $ 20 worth of food. This gave me a chance to check out Taj with my son because he also loves Indian food. Receipt Tip — Add it up yourself and double check it! I believe I was overcharged. Very sketchy receipt. Since you can’t use the groupon on the buffet we ordered from the menu. Our choices: Chicken tikka masala — $ 12.95 Pullao rice — $ 3.95 Gobi Aloo — $ 9.95 Garlic Naan — $ 2.95 I was really disappointed with the chicken tikka masala. For $ 12.95 there were about 9 or less tiny chunks of chicken swimming in the masala. Are you kidding me? What’s the point in offering this dish on the menu if you hardly get any meat! What a total rip off. I highly recommend passing on this dish and saving your money! The chicken tikka was a little on the sweet side for me and from what I’m use to elsewhere. My son loved it though so that’s all that matters. The pullao rice was just Ok but a little on the bland side. And kind of dry too. The gobi aloo was pretty good. This dish is cauliflower and potatoes sautéed with tomatoes, ginger, coriander, cumin, turmeric, and green chili. Garlic naan was good but I would order plain next time due to the generous size & portion you get versus the garlic naan. Staff and service was very attentive and friendly. No complaints about that! We were even served two complimentary dishes. I wasn’t sure what the first one was but it was pretty good. The second was carrot rice pudding. Me and my son both enjoyed this and it wasn’t too sweet. Overall I’m glad I could try out a different Indian restaurant but would I come back? Yes I would because I’m curious about the lunch buffet. And from what I seen on the customers plates the food looked way better than what we ordered off the menu. Hopefully I will have a better experience with the buffet next time!

.This restaurant was amazing. I’ve had Indian food in many indian restaurants and this place by far was one of my top two. The wifey ordered chicken tiki masala, I ordered lamb vindaloo and they gave us a sample of Butter chicken. I have to say all three were super amazing in flavors. We ended the evening with carrot pudding. I’m not much for desert but this pudding was amazing. Next time I’m in the area, I’m for sure eating here again. If you ever dine here make sure they know your Unilocaler. Excellent customer service.
