İ have to say the burgers are awesome but for some reason I can’t seem to get the sides I order. Wrote the Habit and got a quick response explaining their process. I appreciate the response but as a consumer, I just want what I want. No offer to fix the problem so, as much as I love the burger, I will be looking somewhere I can actually get what I ask for.

Never even made it into the restaurant because my wife was too afraid to walk past the transients and crazy person hanging out at the tables by the front door… Also, there is only one bathroom and it is located outside with those same crazies. When you are traveling the coast and want something other than McDonald’s, Habit would normally be a fantastic choice, but definitely not this one in Ventura. Very disappointed that they would allow this. And when you are making a quick stop while traveling, a clean restroom is also a priority. What a dump. And don’t forget people, the cooks here are using the same restroom.

I am going to say the worst thing you can as a Californian. I like The Habit better than In’N’Out Burger. At the Habit the burgers have a fantastic, savory, fresh taste. The burgers here are delicious but are on the pricey side. The French fries are also much better than In’N’Outs fries. Here they each have flavor crunch and still fast good if you leave them for 5 minutes. This location is a little too close inside but outside there is great seating available especially at night when traffic is at a minimum. Because of this fact this is the best Habit location in Ventura.

I was expecting a REALLY good burger after hearing all sorts of hype about this place. Turns out, it’s a decent burger joint. The location in Ventura… I went in and the place was PACKED. The restaurant is unfortunately laid out in a peculiar way that stifles your ordering experience. Architectural fail. The food is decently priced. I ordered a double BBQ bacon burger and fries. The fries came out piping hot and were pretty tasty. The burger tasted homemade. It wasn’t anything earth-shattering but it was pretty tasty! If I’m going to get a fastfood burger and will to drop about $ 10…I’d say the six-dollar burger at Carl’s beats The Habit. But overall, The Habit is a decent joint!

Quality of the«Habit» burger is always above average at a reasonable price. Location was clean inside and out. Service was fast and friendly. The only thing I don’t like about this Habit location is the outside bathrooms.

We visited this place after smelling the amazing aroma from the gas station across the street. We were not disappointed. I tried the Santa Barbara burger and it was fantastic. Burger was plump, juicy, had a charbroiled flavor, and came loaded with topping on sourdough bread. Yumm! I had the regular fries which came in an ample portion but were pretty standard. My companion had the sweet potato fries which were great. I should have tried the onion rings. Orders came out fast, condiments were available in the dining room, restrooms are on the outside of the restaurant and required a key.

Noshing on the Char-burger is reminiscent of eating at Burger King in the 80’s(in a good way). The Habit’s burger has that great smokey-char flavor(just like the BBQ at home), the patties are moist and have good flavor, and the grilled onions really make the whole thing pop. The fries are crispy and taste like(gasp!) Fries! Even though this restaurant offers fried fish, the fries don’t taste fishy(they must use different fryers). The only down-side was the fries were a little over-salted, but that was probably due to a heavy-handed shaking by a cook. My husband and kids had the strawberry limeade, and they all thought it was awesome. Tangy, with just a hint of sweetness. Even though I’m a proud In-n-Out fan, I’d definitely eat here again.

Other reviewers rave about the char burgers and they are good, however, their grilled chicken sandwiches deserve just as much praise! The grilled chicken comes with your choice of sourdough, wheat or, French roll. Also a choice between BBQ and teriyaki sauce and grilled or raw onion. Tomato, shredded lettuce, mayo, and cheese are standard. After many combinations, I’ve settled on the ultimate choice for me-wheat bun, no onions, and no sauce. The chicken alone is tender and flavorful and I’ve found sauces and onions mask the deliciousness. The perfect side is an order of onion rings with the ranch dressing. The irony of no onions on a sandwich along with an order of rings is not lost on me but this is my world. You’re welcome.

The Habit is GREAT! It’s fast, inexpensive food with taste! Our favorite is the albacore tuna sandwich(on sourdough) with a mild peppers on top, and an order of sweet potato fries. For those of us who don’t eat burgers anymore, it’s a great place to stop while others indulge in their fresh charbroiled cheeseburgers, fries and onion rings. Great for surfers and those of us who walk our pups through downtown Ventura. This location is a block from the pier and next to the California St. freeway offramp, so sitting outside can be noisy, breezy and a little dicey with the«outdoorsmen» hanging around the liquor store next to it. Small parking lot, but usually plenty of street parking around.

In my opinion, this is the best burger you can get in Ventura, aside from maybe in and out burger. I’m completely on the fence about which I like better. The choice to go to one or the other really depends on my mood. If you are looking for a fantastic burger, the habit is great. I’m just not really a fan of their sides I guess. The price is also really nice, and comparability lower than other burger joints in the area. Their burgers really are fantastic though. I haven’t had anything on their menu that I didn’t really enjoy from the burger category. If you’re looking for a good burger at a decent price, and you find yourself down town, the habit is my only suggestion.

Great food, but the restroom was a out side around the restaurant, very limited parking and a long wait for food to come out. I realized it may have been a little busy so that’s why 4 stars

Love that I can walk to the beach with a burger in hand. I’m a big fan of the Tuna fillet. They have more options then some other Habits have. Parking is a problem.

What’s a girl doin at The Habit, when She can easily walk to in&out, you ask? The whole beef(no pun intended) between InO and The Habit is plain non existent in my opinion. It’s like comparing apples to oranges, a little similar but different in a big way. Habit burgers, particularly the Charburger with American cheese is simply amazing. It has a distinct sweeter taste & the way the cheese melts with the juicy patty is so delicious. I kept trying to ask myself as I ate my burger, what makes it so good? It has to be the way the meat is cooked plus you are getting top of the top freshness. Overall very flavorful of a burger. InO don’t compare, they are very different animals. Some may say it’s an acquired taste, I am a fan of both. *******try a Habit burger you won’t go wrong… great price point just shy of $ 4 for a cheese burger… Also location is great near down town and the beach!

Just had arguably the best hamburger of my life here! I ordered the number two which is a double char burger with cheese. My order of french fries was piping hot and delicious. I am not usually hamburger person, but I will be back to The Habit soon!

Came for a veggie burger, and it was HUGE. Wheat bun, loaded with fresh veggies, and an ample veggie patty with a piece of swiss, no sauce(I’m sure you can ask for it). You can get either raw or grilled onions. It comes in under 500 calories(not the fries — those are monsters!). The place is mostly clean and fairly efficient. A handheld buzzer alerts you when it’s time to pick up your order.
