I have had the displeasure of Scooters BBQ for several years. I am always glad when baseball season ends and so does Scooters. The food is lame at best. Baked beans out of a can. Cole slaw from samsclub. Meats are over done and just soaked in sauce. It is not Memphis, Texas or Southern BBQ. It is just bad catering all around. No effort goes in and it shows. Ventura has much better to offer. SCOOTERS does not even rate. Oh and as a non store front he has no health score.

They catered for my son’s wedding and did an amazing job! We had more than enough food, but we were completely out by end of the night. Great job Scooters!

Excellent food! The tri-tip and chicken and are cooked to perfection and the seasoning adds nothing but succulence! I believe the beans, salad, and scooter bread are excellent compliments to a wonderful catering experience. If you want quality at an excellent price, this is the place! One more thing, I was at party he catered for 225 people — lasagna! It was absolutely Delicious and everyone commented on the quality. They can cater any food of choice. Absolutely awesome!

With a name like Scooter’s, you’d expect good old fashioned BBQ. Scooter’s Santa Maria style BBQ is available for catering(minimum order of 15 people) and take home dinners. There aren’t many options to choose from: tri-tip, chicken, hot links, beans, salad and scooter bread. * Tri-tip: The whole tri-tip is huge. It was cooked to a nice medium rare. The tri-tip was rather plain despite the dry rub. It came with a container of BBQ sauce. * Chili beans: The beans looked very dark. They were mushy, creamy and rich, almost like refried beans. The saltiness made them almost inedible. The beans tasted like doctored Hormel Chili but Hormel is better. * Scooter bread: It’s garlic bread, soft and salty without much garlic flavor * Potato salad: Nice big chunks of red potato, hard boiled eggs, etc. There wasn’t too much mayo. It tasted pretty fresh though on the bland side.
