Jesse and Kyle came to the house right on time (they gave me an hour window, and the morning of the job, they gave me an exact time). I received a quote beforehand via Unilocal messages, however the installation of our Enduraflap dog door took much longer than anticipated (our home is insulated with metal sheeting, which is not common, according to Jesse). Despite this and the loud noises of sheet metal being cut, they were friendly, expeditious, and cleaned up everything for me and took the waste with them (score!). Plus, they didn’t charge me more despite having to do more work than anticipated! Also, they were totally cool with my dog hanging out with them. She left them alone for the most part. I will definitely be contacting them for other work in the future. My only concern is that Jesse is really busy. This job is a few months after our initial contact. The good thing was that Jesse was professional and let me know of this.

JL Handyman did a few odd jobs at my home recently. I was pleased with the work that they did and I thought the price was fair. The two guys that came out were nice and professional. The areas where they worked were left clean and tidy. I would hire them again.
If I had anything negative to say, however, it would be that they aren’t the quickest to respond to an email. I would say that in this day and age of everyone having a smartphone, it should take no longer than a few hours to reply to questions.
Having said that, as stated before, I would hire these guys again. I think the work they did outweighs my having to wait for a reply to my email. :)

With a 5000 square foot 2 story home going on 17 years of age, I have had the need for all kinds of repairs and have tried several contractors. Jesse and Kyle are the best and most efficient I have found. They have done everything from small jobs like fixing floor squeaks and planing doors to repairing, waterproofing, and re-​tiling an upstairs deck. All on-​time and at a fair price. They are my «go to» guys from now on. Quick, fair, professional.

Jesse and his crew were so great! They installed new tile top for my built in bbq. It came out great. He responded to emails and texts, set an appointment showed up on time and made sure the work was all done right! Sent out estimates so the price was clear, and gave receipts. Great handyman, I would recommend to anyone!

Very professional, great customer service, punctual and does excellent work. He is a little pricey, but does awesome quality work. I have hired him several times to work on our rentals.

JL Handyman & Tile Services has been a great find for us! We recently moved to Oxnard Shores and therefore had no experience with local vendors. After receiving a high estimate from another handyman referred to us from our realtor, I got on Unilocal and read JL’s reviews and gave him a call. He called back promptly, was courteous and followed up with an estimate well within reason. He and his crew installed the under cabinet supports for our new Farm Sink and were able work around the counter top crew which was pretty crowded, but necessary. We were so pleased with his demeanor and work that we had him quote us on a kitchen back splash and subsequently contracted him to install a glass subway back splash. He and his crew were prompt, communicated well and worked hard. They cleaned up the area and did everything to make sure we were pleased. JL is my handyman in Oxnard! Thank you so much Jesse and team!

Jesse and co. installed my new kitchen faucet and replaced the yukky and leaking sealant on my under mount sink. On the date of the appointment he phoned to let me know that he’d be approximately 15 minutes late for the appointment (still within an «on-​time» window, as far as I’m concerned). He and his helper got the job done in an hour, left the work area spotless, and were polite and professional throughout. I look forward to using JL Handyman Services again in the future. P. S. — they were closely supervised by my small terrier, Lola, who pronounced them «good people.»

Called left a message, no return call. Called the following day hoping it was just a matter of being at a job. One week later, still no return call.

I contacted Jesse on a Thursday morning and left him a message about repairing a front door for me. I was not sure how quick he would get back to me since this is a small job. Jesse called me back about an hour later and he was able to give me a price estimate over the phone. Jesse offered to do the work that day… so about 90 minutes later he arrived with the parts and got the work done. Giving a handyman a call at 9am and having the work done by 130pm is unheard of and much appreciated! Very fair price also! Thanks again Jesse.

We purchased a home that looked like it needed a little updating.
As we started the job, we realized that it needed a total remodel so Jesse ended up
remodeling about 90% of the home. You name it and he can do it… paint, plumbing,
tile, electric, etc., etc, He also has good ideas when you are not quite sure what
is needed… Jesse keeps you informed about what is going on and his prices are
fair. I would highly recommend him.

This is exactly what happened; I called JL Handyman Services. Within 2 hours I had an over the range microwave professionally installed. The owner, Jesse, was very professional. You can tell he cares about his business and his clients.

Jesse’s great, that one bad review must have just had rotten luck. Another handyman wanted to charge me more than twice what Jesse charged. He showed up on time, got the job done, I’ll use him again, got lots of little jobs to do around the house.

Jesse is very quick and professional in his job. We are impressed with his work. I called him on a weekday and he finished most of the stuff as planned and for remaining stuff he co ordinated very well for the next day and finished everything as planned. completely satisfied with his work and definitely going to recommend to friends and family .
He also responded to messages/​calls instantly. Appreciate that as well.

I had some shelves put in for my media center for my summer home in California by this company a couple of weeks ago. They were professional and punctual! They were eager to work around my schedule and budget. I choose my contractors very carefully but I would highly recommend this company. Cheers guys!

Jesse does amazing work. He’s helped spruce up our home by fixing small things like broken closet door hinges to even figuring out how to fix our electric wiring for our down lights in our kitchen. If you need a really great handy man, he’s the guy to call!

I really really wish this had turned out better. I was surprised with my experience considering the other reviews.
I had called Jesse as I have a large variety of items I needed done. It took a while for him to get back to me, but he eventurally did. I sent an email with all of the items I wanted done. He said he can get everything done in one day, so we scheduled a full day of work and I took the day off to be there. Jesse showed up on time but was only able to complete 2 of the very small tasks as he «needed another guy» to compete the other activities. This should have been explained at the start. So, we scheduled another day where he could bring another guy with him to do the work.
Jesse was supposed to be at my house at 9 am. At 10:45 he calls me, asks me for my address and says sorry he is late the other guy called in sick. Wait, didnt he need another guy to finish the work at my house? Not only should he have called BEFORE he was supposed to be there to tell me he was going to be late, he should have immediately rescheduled me when he didnt have another guy because the job required it. Yet another day off of work and NOTHING got done.
I decided to give the guy one more chance because he had such great reviews and figured he was going through a difficult time. We scheudled another day and very late the night before he was supposed to come he cancels via email with a family emergency. While family should always come first, he never followed up or rescheduled.
2 full days off of work wasted… Good luck trying to get him to you with the right people. Very unfortunate.

I was having an issue with my garage door opening when it wasn’t supposed to and not working when I needed it. I called John and he asked me a couple of questions on the phone then came out that afternoon. Basically he un-​programmed and re-​programmed my system, let me know that there was a known issue with one of the Liftgate remotes, sold me a Universal Liftgate remote for $ 30. And was on his way. A sense of integrity like that is difficult to find. I will definitely recommend him to others and use him when it comes to maintenance or repair of my Liftgate system!

I have used Handyman services on dozens of occasions, and for the most part they showed up… usually on their schedule, and weeks after a repair was needed. One scheduled twice and didn’t show at all. This time the job was simple, but I have many jobs to follow. I called 4 handyman services… Jesse was the first to call back. We scheduled, and he showed up right on time… did the job, made recommendations, and the best attitude I’ve ever encountered! I will stay with him, and recommend him to anyone needing these services!

Had JL Handyman Services install a ceiling fan, work was done honestly and cleanly, Jesse knew what he was doing, handled himself professionally, no problems, seems and appears reliable. Will be throwing another project his way soon.

Jesse recently painted the exterior of my home and it looks so great that several neighbors have asked me for his business cards! Not only are his rates fair and competitive, but he works quickly while still paying close attention to detail. I’m looking forward to having JL Handyman Services replace a shower stall in my master bathroom including tile work in the next few weeks.
