Anacapa Ukulele

What a treasure we have in Ventura! Anacapa Ukelele focuses solely on ukeleles and provides exceptional customer service. The sincere, knowledgeable and friendly Manager, Miss Ashley «The Ukelele Princess», helped me with all of my questions and led me to a beginning ukelele that is perfect. Ashley spent far more time and personal attention than you would get at a «larger/​commercial musical outlet» explaining the different ukes and purpose. She doesn’t try to oversell unnecessary accessories either. Just what you need. This is the classic small business I Iove to support in my town.

This place is smaller than it seems from the pictures, but it has enough space to offer a wonderful selection of ukuleles, sheet music and accessories like cases and tuners. The counter with the cash register is a Tiki bar. So cute! Ashley was very helpful and sold us a nice red concert ukulele. She happily replaced the low G string when it popped off a week later and tuned everything nicely. She did charge for the new string, but I was fine with that. This place has a wonderful atmosphere and there is always someone in there playing the ukuleles — someone who is a master musician. The place is that perfect blend of casual, quirky, and professional. If you’re not looking for it, you might drive by since, for some reason, Ventura doesn’t let them put a sign on the store.
Now that I know where it is, I hope to go back as often as I can.

I’ve purchased three ukes and taken lessons at Anacapa Ukulele. Great service, great selection, highly recommended.

Got my tenor uke restrung today by Ashley. She was delightful. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Explained how to properly stretch new strings. Not pushy. Talked about lessons, group and private. Also ended up buying a music stand. I’m definitely going back here.

I went to this place on a whim when I bought my first ukulele just to see what is up. Brad Cary and Laura are great. Everyone is very helpful. Can’t wait until they start producing their own ukes!
