Affordable Water Heaters and Plumbing

Call early morning make schedule at9:30am-11:30 am for my water heater. Call one more at 11:45am, they say 30 minute. Until 1:30pm they show up. I told them I called your company to cancel the appointment, but nobody pick up the phone. I called other company already. And then the office call me say they need collect the money. What this company is!

The temperature on our water heater (AO Smith 50gal unit) suddenly dropped to ~100 °F. Not hot enough for showering.
Called these guys, very nice on phone; later that afternoon «Dean» came round (on time). Dean took a cursory look at the heater held the output pipe for a moment and declared it good. We tested the faucets around the house, none with hot water (merely tepid). 10 mins later I paid my $ 99 callout fee for the advice «it’s one of the mixer faucets adding cold water to the hot».
So I investigated and found a similar situation on a blog site. Turns out the problem was a $ 39 part in the burner intended to reduce the NOx emissions that had burnt away after 11 yrs use. Apparently it’s a common AO Smith heater problem. I spent about 1 hour finding this then ordering the part.
AWHP annoyed me because:
1 they did not test the output temperature using a thermometer (after repair, the pipe was too hot to hold, measured temp ~140F)
2. They did not inspect the burners (easy-​to-​remove access plate — no screws)
3. They estimated replacement at $ 2500+
4. No attempt to diagnose which faucet might have been causing the problem (none were!)
together with a smug attitude that they knew best.
2 stars for smooth telephone and quick response, nothing for solving the issue.
