This place has been closed for 2 years, why is Unilocal still showing it? Unilocal needs to do a better job!

I also wanted to like this place. They seemed disorganized and service was poor. The one positive was the size and taste of the beet and goat cheese salad. Big negative was my shrimp and grits entrée. 4 bland shrimp on top of a drizzle of spinach with a few chips of bacon on top of a bowl of buttery or lemony grits which were supposed to be cheesy. When asked«How is everything?» I told the hostess that the grits did not taste right and tasted like butter and not cheese. She said«oh they are cooked in butter and the cheese is on top. Maybe you got the part on the bottom.» I could not eat them and usually eat anything. She did not apologize or offer to get me something else or offer any compensation. My husband asked for more ketchup and hot sauce for his burger and fries because it was served with maybe a teaspoon of ketchup in a cup, and it was not brought out until he was finished and we asked again. The bread was warm and very good, but four pieces were served with one pat of butter. I heard the next table ask for sauce for their oysters and it took at least ten minutes for them to receive it. I think they had to get up and go inside and ask again for it. Again tiny amounts were brought in little cups and they asked for more. The music was nice and the server and hostess smiled and were pleasant, but I will not go back here. I am very sorry that I did not insist on a different meal. $ 28 for that shrimp dish was extremely disappointing,

If you like mediocre food and terrible service, you will be in heaven at Salt Ayre. After the exhausting effort to gain the attention of our negligent waiter, the salads, that did not include an offering of fresh pepper, took way too long for any restaurant. After being served by a bus boy, not our waiter, he finally came out and took our dinner orders, the last time we saw him that night. On top of the ridiculous wait for the first round if entrees, two entrees came once everyone else had finished all of their food. This seemed to be a recurring theme at all 3 tables that were seated in the span of our 2 hour meal. None of the personnel at the restaurant ever apologized until we complained twice. To top off the sad excuse of a restaurant that is Salt Ayre, we were forced to use the bathroom at a restaurant down the street. Although it doesn’t need to be said, I will never return to Salt Ayre, and it is strongly recommended that you do not either.

Really great restaurant. Mahi was amazing, as was the side of onions and mushrooms, and the fries … Everything really delicious. Byob which is always nice. Does tend to empty out fairly early during the week

I really wanted to like this place… Couldn’t be more annoyed at this restaurant. They will be the death of theirselves. Have been there 6 or 7 times. Their downfall will be service. I waited an hour and a half for entrees last week. 25 Minutes for my wine to be opened, and the best was when the girl that sat us walked away from our table that had only 3 of the 4 chairs we needed!!! The restaurant is ridiculously understaffed. What a shame.

This is a review of their sister restaurant, Stella, which isn’t on the map yet. Waited a while for food, since they were a little under staffed. The beat salad was a little plain, but only because the other dishes, the tomato soup and the stuffed dates, were exceptional. To finish off, the veal and eggplant entrée was great. We ate as a couple and had three starters, a main, and a desert, and we were perfectly satiated.

Great small restaurant in Ventnor. My wife and I went for dinner and were seated 5 minutes after our reservation. Nice atmosphere and attentive staff. I had the Salt Ayre Salad for an appetizer and my wife had a cheese dish which she enjoyed. For our main course she had the Sole and I had a hamburger. Both well cooked and delicious. Overall a nice BYOB, we will definitely return.

Wow, what a strange visit. Lips and I walk in during a magnificent summer night. Small place, very small place. There are a few tables empty. It’s early maybe 8pm. The hostess asks us if she could help us? Sure, a party of two, please. She stares at us, and says, «the kitchen is backed up and we’re closing.» What? There is maybe 14 people in the whole place! It’s in the summer, early and you’re closing? You’re backed up? I’ve cooked for more people myself and you’re backed up? Yikes, what good impression this was, NOT! Prediction…will be a new name next year. Total swing and a miss.

We just got home from a delicious dinner at Salt Ayre. It’s a family run business that shows they care about the diner. Everyone enjoyed their dinners from the Salmon and shrimp to the pasta dish. Dessert was delicious, too. We would definitely go back.
