So, we were at First Fridays tonight and were waiting for the Grilled Cheese Truck, which is one of my favorites… but it wasn’t open yet. 45 minutes of waiting and we finally were over it!(And it wasn’t the typical, we’re waiting in line and it’s just a really long line… it was that the GCT wasn’t open despite EVERY other truck already serving food! I digress…) So, we opted to grab a bite because we had been discussing Philly Cheese steaks just earlier that day. FOOD: We were hoping to hit more than one truck, so we chose to split a cheesesteak, no onions, and with provolone(you’ve got 2 – 3 cheese options). I was VERY happy with my ½(even if I got the smaller one lol) and it was kind of perfect for the moment. I will say that the onions would have probably made it more classic and it also did not include peppers… unsure if that was because of the menu choice(did another have that as an option?) or just b/c you don’t get them if you don’t get onions? Regardless, I enjoyed it and so did the hubby. SERVICE: Quick and to the point. No complaints. Bottom Line: Pretty good! I’d return here and order again for sure!

Not eaten here but the guys who run it are jerks. There’s a ton of food trucks that park on 31st in the business complex in Santa Monica. They were parked I went to park next to them and the guy starts screaming and yelling at me saying he’s going to park there… I’m sorry but why does it matter… And do you need to be rude about it. Anyway, I’m sure the foods great but the guys yelling scared the sh** out of me.

The bacon cheese fries had an abundant amount of salt on them. Your attempt to make me buy a $ 2 bottle of water has not worked. To the garbage with you.

Nice Guys But I Saw Something. The truck was at 350 South Grand today and the cook was handling money with his cooking glove. The cook had to handle change for a customer who ran to the bank because their credit card system was down. With his glove on, he was handling dirty one dollar bills. Now I think I may have caught something like a cold virus. HELLO. Don’t you guys work toward running a clean operation. Saving a few pennies on your latex glove is going to cost you a lot more in business. I wish I could have cancelled my order.

This at the moment is the closest you will get to the mouthfeel and experience of that world renowned gooey and splendifferous Philly Cheesesteak in The city of angels. The truck moves from spot to spot but also provides delivery via Eat24 Unilocal app, yes this means delivery of cheesy hunks of meat wrapped in bread… «Wit» are now available. Don’t get too full.

Stopped here for a sandwich as the truck was stopped on Wilshire Blvd. Loved how tasty and delicious it was. Definitely a cheat day but well worth it. I recommend it if you see it around LA. I know I was told they do abbot Kinney in Venice beach as well.

Coming from Philly/South Jersey 6 years ago I have tried«Philly Cheesesteaks» about one a year here in LA. Each time I boycotted them until I got the yearning bad enough to give it another shot a year later. Finally I was directed to this truck outside The Daily Pint one evening. Yay. Finally a true cheesesteak.

I walked up grand during my lunch break in DoLA today to try this food truck. There were a lot of items in the menu but I figured, when in Rome. So I ordered the cheesesteak with whiz and onions. I know I could’ve ordered it with American or provolone cheese but that would be silly. I took it back to my desk at work and ate it over a span of about an hour. The first couple of bits were awesome. Even when the sando stated to get a little cold it still tasted delicious. And for $ 9 it was a pretty good deal. I enjoyed this truck and recommend it.

The sub was soggy and tasted dangerous. I only needed to take two bites to know it was a bad idea. The crab fries were the only french fries I’ve ever tasted that I didn’t like. DONOTTRUSTTHISPLACE. Just like South Philly this food is rude and shady.

Let me start off by saying I frequent this place. When the food is on, it’s really on. The steaks are as good as I’ve had on this coast, when they get the order right. My favorite part used to be the boneless wings, but whatever the new chicken they started using is sub par compared to the old kind, and at the same price point it’s almost offensive. Please bring back the old wings! All that said, I still eat here about once a week and have very few complaints, as you could have at even the best of restaurants.

This review is long overdue. The Wiz cheese fries & wiz bacon fries were pretty delicious however, but my bad experiences with this place has left a bad taste in my mouth. I have also tried the chicken cheesesteak here before and it is not very good. The quality of the chicken was questionable with pieces of cartilage & gristle scattered throughout the sandwich. First of all, the lack of ability to contact them is really annoying. There are a million different phone numbers listed all over the internet for this place, yet somehow NONE of them work. I had placed an online order nearing 1:00am, having tried to call them before hand for 30 minutes with no success. I wanted to order something that was not on the eat24 menu but was on the actual truck menu. Alas with no luck and every other place nearing closing time I reluctantly placed an order and decided to just go with what I knew was decent: the wiz fries. I had ordered a cheesesteak sandwich for my friend which actually never made it to our house. 20 seconds after the delivery guy dropped off the food we figured out the sandwich was missing so I ran out to talk to the delivery guy, except as soon as he saw me running toward his car he punched the gas pedal and zipped off. Now we pretty much have to resort to eating only fries to satisfy our hunger. Better yet, it was impossible to get in touch with the restaurant because none of the phone numbers worked! This is not a professional way to conduct business. Luckily eat24 refunded our money, but likely will not be dining with these people again.

These cheesesteaks are absolutely delicious! I can’t imagine finding a better one in Philadelphia. The steak they use is quality, lean steak without lots of fat mixed in and they have every ingredient you can imagine wanting to put in one… banana peppers, onions, mushrooms, sweet peppers, jalapenos, mayonaise, and several types of cheese. It hits the spot every time!

Food taste like crap, long lines and way way way overpriced! We were hanging out at Abbott Kinney for first Fridays and decided to get some food. We were craving some cheese steak so we stood in line for this truck, for 30min, placed our order, then waited another 15min for our food to be ready. The service was just super slow. The cheesesteak was $ 12, very small and does not taste very good. The quality of ingredients were very low, the meet was stringy and there was not a lot of cheese in there, mostly just a piece of bread and that’s it. Definitely would not recommend.

Ordered from SPE around 12am off eat24. My two friends ordered the buffalo cheesesteak each, one chicken and one steak. My boyfriend and I both got regular cheesesteaks, his with no onions, but mine with added mayo and mushrooms(.75 to add). Delivery only took 30 minutes which was cool, but we ended up getting 2 buffalo steak sandwiches, instead of one chicken and one steak, and 2 cheesesteak sandwiches with no onion. I’m a little bummed that I didn’t get the onions and the mushrooms I paid extra for, so I had to take a couple stars off for that. But taste wise, I really couldn’t complain. Especially since I was hungry and it was so late. Probably gonna try going to First Fridays and giving this place another shot.

I didn’t even give the food here a chance, after my experience with their RUDE staff! I don’t care how good your food may be. If the people that run the truck are a$$holes, you will NEVER get my business!

Ordered for the first time from SPE thru Eat24. They were open late and delivery was super fast. Two cheese steaks and fries for my husband and a chicken cheese steak for me. The chicken cheese steak was missing the bleu cheese and onions. I requested ½ off just the chicken sandwich($ 5.25) thru Eat24 for the mistake. They said the restaurant wanted proof so I opened the chicken«cheese steak», snapped a pic and sent it via Eat24. After dealing with the issue for a half hour or more, SPE did nothing so Eat24 refunded me $ 3 on their end and gave a $ 2 coupon. *My husband said he felt gross after eating his cheese steak and wished he’d just gone to bed hungry. But the dog really liked my dry chicken sandwich… Guess that was the first and last time we order from SPE.*

I go to First Friday’s faithfully every month. The majority of the time this is where my stomach leads me. I usually get the Buffalo Cheese Steak with wiz/without onions and those deliciously fantastic crabby fries. The lines can get long however it’s worth the wait. Everyone is always friendly, the truck is clean/organized and the food comes out piping hot fairly quickly. Enjoy!

This is as good as it gets when it comes to Cheesesteaks on the West Coast. Grew up all over New York, Jersey and Philly. Including Pat’s and Geno’s. No doubt, this place does it right. Bread is ALWAYS fresh. Meat is ALWAYS moist. And even delivery never shows up soggy. I would’ve taken a pic of my picture perfect cheesesteak but I inhaled the thing before I could finish this review. Try the Crab Fries. Epic.

TASTY, but… with some problems. I grew up in New Jersey, so I am very familiar with great cheese steak hoagies from South Philly. I’ve eaten at both the famous Pat’s & Geno’s as well as others many times over the years. On the positive side, the South Philly Experience [SPE] food truck definitely makes a tasty sandwich that is very close to what you can get in South Philly. They even get their bread flown in from Philly… which is very cool… Yesterday I tried two different hoagies… the Italian with provolone, broccoli rab, marinara, «wit» onions… and a regular cheese«wit» onions, provolone, marinara, hot peppers, etc. Both were delish, but in both cases the bread was so saturated with the grease, fat, juices, sauce, or whatever other liquids involved that was like eating wet sponge. To be fair, I’ve had similar hoagies like that in Philly, too. But… never as wet as this. Sort of made the entire hoagie taste like ONENOTE … it was a tasty note for sure, but I missed experiencing the authentic texture of the bread as a result… a bit too mushy overall. The quality of the beef was fabulous… really melted in my mouth. And it was also just a tad over salted for my taste, but not bad. And for a late night munchy after drinking, I think it would be perfect for most. On another issue, it’s hard to follow them online. The phone number they list online at Unilocal,Grubhub, Facebook, and other sites is no longer a valid number. And, I was also unable to locate their scheduled locations and times online either. It’s very difficult to find out where their trucks are going to be, so I finally emailed Scott Springfield, one of the owners to mention these issues. Here’s a copy of my email to him, and his reply. «Scott, Really anxious to try your food, but I am unable to locate your truck. The phone numbers listed on both Unilocal, and Facebook do not work, and I drove by The Brig on Abbot Kinney about an hour ago and did not see your truck. Are you guys still in business? And if so, how do I find your truck? Thanks paul» His reply: «The truck opens at the Brig at 3:30 today.» So, I went to this location at 4:30 only to be told by the employees inside the truck that they will not be open until 5pm… a bit frustrated, I walked around for 30 minutes until they opened. I realize they are a relatively new business, so hopefully they’ll pay more attention to details as they grow.

Need to try crabby crab fries Lots of meat, lots of cheese(provolone), lots of bread, lots of onions, lots of goodness combined with hot peppers, mayo, and mustard. Truck menu design confused the newbie I was. I would like to see them simplify it to make the truck more accessible.

It was decent. Not what I was expecting but still pretty good. Maybe cause I was so excited to try it I had higher expectations. The cheese was hidden inside and the steak is chopped — which was new to me. But the flavor was still decent and they loaded the meat into this sucker! I definitely had meat spilling out of my mouth and needed napkins. The portions were huge! It was a massive cheesesteak and I was glad for the random passerby who wanted a bite! LOL Hey — sharing is caring! They were fast! Had the Cheesesteak out to me in less than 5 minutes. Over all an enjoyable experience.
