On our weekend trip from the east coast of Florida we wanted to do some shark tooth diving so we stopped to buy a dive flag reel and a few other items along with renting gear for my son. Shortly after leaving, a quick moving storm came through and kicked up the Gulf causing us to ditch our plans. We returned to the shop within an hour hoping for a refund on the rental items at best, or a store credit for a future rental at a min. The store owner said no way even to my request for a store credit. Looks like I’ll use an alternate shop on our next visit to Venice and avoid these guys. I always prefer supporting local shops to the online guys but with shops like this it makes it hard to justify paying a bit more.

I was in there twice to look at some gear and ask some questions(as my fav dive shop was closed), I dealt with 2 different people on two different days and had similiar experiences. They were generally unhelpful, prices were okay for gear(didn’t get any), their courses seemed to be pricey. The description(as of dec 2012) may give you a real local dive shop feel, but be aware it is part of a significant chain. The poor service and answers to my questions mean I won’t be back. I was in a HP100 steel tank buying mood during my second visit(theyhad 1 in stock), but I ended up not spending a cent. Also they do not have their own boat /dive trips.
