Jim Burke was the best painter I have ever had in my life. We live in Cheviot Hills, on a hillside behind the Rancho Park Golf Course. He gave us an amazing quote, was early, and waited for me to meet with him. He painted about 1000 bricks by hand, making sure that none of the paint touched the grout. The original paint had been purchased by a previous painter at home depot. Unfortunately Home Depot had changed the color base and it no longer matched. Jim went to great lengths, going to several stores, to make sure that the paint matched.
It was a bear of a job, almost an architectural feat. His price was very fair, he is extremely professional, a class act. I will be using him for everything from now on. I highly recommend Jim and his whole team.

We have chosen Jim’s staff for all of our business, rental and home paintings for over five years. He and his people do wonderful repairs, prep, painting and clean up. I recommend them very highly to all my friends and business associates. We have six pets and none have escaped and we are quite comfortable with them being in our home when we are not there. They are the best!

Don’t believe the good reviews.
After giving me a misleading quote that conveniently left out obvious areas and me agreeing to a nearly 30% price increase after they started, Jim’s crew took longer than they projected to paint my house. This would have been fine except that with only a day left on my job, he told me he had to paint another house (somebody famous in Hollywood…) for a few days — and instead disappeared for 2 weeks with virtually no contact.
Then after making me wait weeks to finish one day of work, he expected a check immediately. When I told him he’d have to wait, I got multiple threats.
Seriously, this guy is a scumbag.

I found Preferred Painters through Unilocal so I felt it was fair to return the favor. Jim got in touch with me soon after I left him a message and everything after that point went as well as could be expected. He told me where to get the paint for the job worked with the time frame I gave him. Even staying late on the day of the job to ensure they wouldn’t need to return the next day. While I did not get a competing bid for the job, I was very happy with the rate considering the excellent outcome. I absolutely love the look of my apartment and I’ve gotten many compliments on it since.

Preferred Painters was absolutely delightful to work with. We had recently moved offices leaving a paint crew very little time to come in and paint our new office. The painters not only were able to move very quickly, the job was very professional and clean. Their workers cleaned every last spec from the site leaving DBA West (
) as good as new. After their work our office will only consider Preferred for our future painting solutions.

Jim and his crew were professional and courteous with an eye for detail. They were very careful not to get paint on floors, drapes or furnishings. They took off and replaced every fixture with care and always made sure that they had complete coverage with the new colors. As a professional feng shui and color consultant, I am always looking for painters that do not mind doing several test patches and even repainting walls they may have painted the day before in order to get the colors just right. They were all hard workers with great attitudes that worked quickly for a reasonable price. Thanks Jim, Emilio and Tacho!
