My roommate and I happened upon this peephole by accident while we were walking along Abbot Kinney Blvd. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be: underwhelming. First of all, it’s a pretty unwise thing to do to follow an old sign that says«Take a Peek» and then stick your eye into a peephole of a rusted metal box, of which the contents are entirely unknown. Nevertheless, we both did it. I don’t know why I went into it with such high expectations, but I was slightly disappointed. It’s literally an old diorama filled with dust and cobwebs from lack of maintenance. Admittedly, it’s heartwarming to think of whoever took the time and initiative to create this and share a little bit of history with the public. But all in all, I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this observatory. If you happen to be passing by, though, it’s definitely worth a peek.

The last word-on Peep Holes After a heap of Cointreau Crème Brûlée Donuts, I was walking down Abbot Kinney on a mission to reclaim dietary balance. And I came across a new Abbot Kinney must. The Main Street Peep Hole Box, a cool little stand alone metal box help up only by a pole that reads«Take a Peek» and I could only guess what the insides of this mini auditorium might be. Inside, an amazingly cool functional-at-night 4d theater has been achieved. Depicted within is Santa Monica’s Main Street of Old, of the 1920’s to be specific by and by. The attraction itself is an historical art piece for the city and gives an interesting look at the roots of this now highly popular area of retail instability. The actual design of the box is very clever allowing the space of the box to act as a 3d house for the images inside, it might be a little disappointing though, if you«Take a Peek» thinking you’re gonna see something a bit different after drink 20. There are indeed some good bars around as well as kinda cool versions of everything, How many donuts can the human body eat normally, 26.
