This store has a beautiful collection of items, but as much as I want to buy everything there, the customer service is consistently terrible. The women who work there seem so bored, unenthusiastic, and generally seemed annoyed that customers want to shop there. Is this a strategy to make us want to shop there more? Like the pretty, apathetic girl in high school who doesn’t have to work hard to make friends?

A really cute shop located off Lincoln in the Venice area. You can find things from coffee accessories, lingerie, stationery sets to local granola and honey in this store and more. It’s very spacious and the lighting gives it a warm welcoming. The ladies there are also super nice and there’s a cure dog that likes to pop its head every now and then. Haha. I was able to purchase recent Kinfolk magazines for $ 18 each. Lots of goodies to look at here.

Came in here to buy a gift for my boyfriends sister. This store is too cute! Some items are surprisingly pricier than most but I think it’s well worth it :)

had a great experience at the store the other day… was in route to a friend’s birthday celebration and needed to get a quick little gift. was going to head to home depot for a plant but this was in route and called to confirm they had some plants to choose from. I wanted to spend under $ 20 and made that clear to the girls helping me… they were SUPER helpful in showing me all the options they had for small plants and I found a really cool one for about $ 10…the girls really went the extra mile for me as they offered to get crafty and wrap the plant in a burlap bag with some stuffing to help dress it up. they even took another few minutes to nicely write the birthday girl’s name and our names on on the bag. left feeling great! the girls were really helpful and kind, the fact I was trying to not spend a lot of money didn’t stop them from still providing excellent service! thank you!

We have been supporters of general store since it was just the San Francisco location, we love the forward mix of products, and overall aesthetic, this is truly a place to get something unique, is just disappointing that we have purchase Serena’s work and flight out to SFO, to visit her studio, and she still does not even acknowledge us very time we bump into her. The husband is awesome though.

Really refreshing to see this boutique on Lincoln as I’m noticing more and more cool stylish shops pop up over the past few years. I bought a beautiful navy colored soft leather clutch and some unique cards. The assortment of jewelry was quite tempting but had to refrain from tapping deeper into my pockets as I’m aware of my weakness for beautiful things(especially jewelry). The home goods here were also very unique and handcrafted. I didn’t get a chance to look through the clothing but from a bird eye view across the room it seemed like a nice mixture of bohemian vintage and whimsical contemporary designers. Will definitely come back to see what’s new when in the area.

This store is curated to perfection. It is a collection of vintage clothing, home accessories, candles, Navajo style jewelry and bowls, coffee table books, personal care items and just fun odds and ends. The store is a true«general store» with a little bit for everyone. When I imagine a beautiful girl who is wildly cool, I imagine her owning a store just like this. This store really does have a little bit of everything and just the right amount of it all. It is great store, well curated with perfect pieces and good prices. I really hope they are around for years.

I’ve always privately maintained that Etsy should have its own store, and General Store is as close to that as you can get. I’m in love. I’d always driven by it because I go to school/work in the area and usually take Lincoln down to both. And I always thought, «Hmm, that store looks cute!» but was always too busy doing something or running too late to actually stop in. Today, one of my classes was cancelled, so I had an extra hour and a half and thought I might as well check out it. And I’m so glad I did! There’s glossy coffee table books, really cool interior design, knick knacks and jewelry of all kinds, high quality clothes and shoes, and friendly employees. The stuff comes from independent designers(I have a major thing for indie designers) and is just so gorgeous. I tried on a bunch of really unique gems(they do overnight holds!) and will be back tomorrow to get them, because I didn’t have my wallet on me. It’s a bit pricey, but admiring the goodies, I could tell they were all high quality. Can’t wait to go back!

The gentrification of Lincoln Blvd in Venice is starting. General Store is a designery shop for home décor, interesting gifts, clothing, and things that you never thought you needed. It’s the newest location of a retail store in San Francisco. It’s a more rustic version of A+R — where the items feel more handmade, crafty, but still high end. The interior design of the store fits their brand — whitewashed walls, simple wooden displays. Rough luxe. I really enjoyed browsing here and am tempted to get something for myself if my husband will let me. Things that caught my eye at this shop — cute balancing wooden blocks that look like rough hewn wood crystals packaged in a simple canvas bag, an awesome silky blouse with a cool abstract illustrations of breasts all over it, really beautiful jewelry — rose gold tone necklace with an enameled triangle, and beautiful neutral toned nested african baskets. Will be back if I want to get a special gift for a special someone. This store will join stores like OK, A+R, and Tortoise General Store — a must see for design aficionados looking for cool gifts.
