Floyd’s 99 Barbershop

WOW. What a fantastic cut and colour I just got from CHRIS TUCKER at Floyds on Lincoln @ Venice. He took so much time and care and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. I’ve travelled the world and I am VERY particular about my hair and I can promise you, Chris is world-​class. The salon has a great vibe also. If you want a cut, a colour or anything to make you look great from a very cool place go there right now! Thanks CHRIS, you rock! xxx

Last night a DJ saved my life. I walked in randomly, which I would NEVER do. I was just sick of paying too much for haircuts so I went for it. DJ gave me great color and he saved my bangs. They’d been way too thick and he gave them the love they needed. So happy with my experience. I haven’t Unilocaled in years, but I thought I needed to give this place some good stars.

Totally solid hair salon and fun. They always ask the right questions to make sure the style is right. For example, do you work at a bar or a bank. The haircuts I have gotten are really good, have some flair and are versatile to style. Today, they did a great job on my daughter too. Colored her tips and she is so happy with it!

Arrived at Floyds and was in the chair immediately.
Asked for a certain style, showed length with fingers, and the cut was started.
She wasted no time buzzing away at the sides, and a few snips up top and I was done. The style wasn’t exactly what I asked for, and a bit shorter than described. The guy next to me was getting a fade and had one side of his head worked on in the time my entire «cut» took.
10 minutes total… 36 $ mostly buzzed with no wash/​shampoo.
The irony is there was no reason to rush, the place was empty after me.
Supercuts has done a better job at half the cost.

Never been before, needed a cut Sunday and they took my right away. Great environment great energy, great people. Loved the cut, $ 26, and I was out of there in under 30. I’ll be back.
Even managed to make a 50+ year old look almost current.

It was the worst haircut I’ve ever gotten. It was done by one of the male stylists. Thank God hair grows back.

I have been going to Floyd’s for several years now. Sometimes I come out so happy and others not so much. I stopped in the Venice location since I was passing by. I really felt that my stylist listened to me and had a great understanding of hair. I am so happy with the service Chris provided!!! This changed my day!

It’s hit or miss. I’ve tried 4 different barbers at this location. I’ve gotten a good hair cut ³⁄₅ times. I asked for the same hair cut from each barber and each time it came out different. Erin from Chicago is the best here! Everyone else is meh.

Absolutely terrible experience. Rude. I went in to ask about setting up an appointment, and when they told me it was walk-​ins only, I decided to just go for it. They got my name and number and said it would be 15 – 20 mins. Five minutes later I go next door to to ATM (for tip) and when I came back my friend, who was there waiting for me, said they had already called. I went up to the same woman who took my name and she just kind of looks at me and goes, «uh, yeah, we didn’t know how long you were gonna be so you lost your place.» And my friend told them that I was going to the ATM and that I would be right back. Why would you take my number if you’re not gonna call me when you’re ready? Why would you say 20 mins «so stay close by» if, 5 minutes later, when I’m close by, I lose my spot in line? Great work, Floyd’s, for making your brand look lazy and unprofessional.

I tried going to Floyd’s several times on the recommendation of my coworkers. I guess some people are getting good haircuts there (or don’t care how their hair looks) because they’re staying in business, but its not for me. Let me summarize:
— First, I admittedly have really coarse, thick hair, but nothing that barbers in the past haven’t cut to look exceptional.
— I’ve been to 3 or 4 different people here, even giving two of them multiple chances to cut my hair lest they have some kind of «vision» or needed more than one cut to clean it up. Long story short, didn’t work out. Every time I leave Floyd’s I’ve kind of felt «meh, it will grow out» about my hair.
–Finally, Despite giving specific instructions on how i would like my hair cut, the barbers kind of take creative liberty with your head, and by creative liberty I mean they do what they want. Some are more, we’ll say, «creative» than others, but the result is never very good.
This place is heavy on branding and they create a cool atmosphere, but overall the barbers just don’t cut it. (Sorry, had to do it.)

Walked in after a long day of work not thinking much and really not wanting to get a haircut,
Although the wait was about 25min (walk in), Ashley who took care of me was awesome. She listened, and gave her input and as weird as it may sound, I was actually super relaxed as she cut my hair (almost fell asleep) in the end, I liked my haircut. Def coming back.

The lady I had (older with glasses and short white spiky hair) has changed careers to become a hairdresser in the past year. I would recommend she goes back to video editing.
I described exactly what I wanted, in the same way I always have, and this is the first time it has gone completely wrong. She didn’t even know how to fade and and left the centre of my hair untouched after I asked for it to be thinned out and have an inch taken off.
I was charged an extra $ 8 compared to the advertised price, even though my hair wasn’t washed like usual or styled at the end.
This place is extremely hit or miss — I would only recommend it if you have a very basic cut, and are willing to wait around for a while with their old fashioned waiting list.

I went to Floyd’s On Lincoln three months ago and my previous review still stands. Every time I look in the mirror and see my short hair is a reminder of the horrible experience I had at Floyd’s. My hair is even shorter since I had to go somewhere else to fix their mess. Ugh!
Here is my old review… I went to Floyd’s and had the most horrible outcome. The Girl butchered my hair. I showed her pictures of what I wanted, telling her to please make sure the back was a short bob and the front very long. And she cut about three inches of my already long bob and left the back long. I did t even notice when she butchered my hair. I AM SO UPSET!!! I had worked really hard to grow my hair that long. I already had the bob as you can see in the picture. LEFT side is what I had, but the back had grown longer. RIGHT side is what she did to me. DEAR HAIRSTYLISTS… IF YOU CAN’T DO A HAIR CUT DON’T SAY THAT YOU CAN!!!
Please recommend someone else.

It’s called and classified as a «barbershop» but the one who gave me the haircut told me he can’t shave or anything like that coz’ there are no barbers available and in fact he told me they are hiring… Am I in the right place or what?
had to edit this one out — after leaving a review someone from corporate sent me an email and explained that Floyd’s 99 is not just a barber shop, they cater to everything that has something to do with your hair. They offered me a discount for my next visit which I gladly accept and went to the other branch in Melrose which is closer to where I live. Robin did a great job on my hair and was really happy about it!

A woman named Pamela cut my hair the other day and she did it PERFECT. I’m pretty picky about my haircuts so I told her exactly what I wanted, 2 on the back and sides, finger length on top, taper it up. BOOM. Best hair cut I’ve ever had.
I’ve got my new stylist.

It took my years to find someone who could get my blonde color just perfect, and Brittany Salazar is my gal! I stumbled into floyds one day and was so thankful I did. I’ve never met anyone who truly has the talent that she does. I constantly get compliments on my hair as getting a blonde color perfect is hard to do. Not only is she incredibly talented, she’s one of the most down to earth amazing person I’ve ever met! Getting my hair done is a fun girls day for me :)
Fyi she is now at Killer Hair in Marina Del Rey.

Walk right in, no wait, great atmosphere, just a great grooming kinda feel. Wish I could go to Floyds!

UPDATE
My «stacked» bob is even worse than I imagined it was!
The cut is uneven. It’s definitely not straight along the bottom and there is absolutely no stacking whatsoever!
