They make a really good butter coffee(doesn’t leave lip-film). :-D Also, the zucchini muffin is waayyy better than it looks, and all the baked goods are gluten free — hip hip hooray!

The Buttery Brew($ 5) was my entry into Bulletproof-esque coffee. I had been hesitant to try since greasy coffee doesn’t sound appealing. But, I was standing in front of AKOS so I decided to get it based upon convenience and other reviews. The cup isn’t big but the coffee is so filling. I could’ve skipped brunch and been ok up until a late dinner. Since I had to be at a baby shower later that day(with small kids in attendance), I thought it’s be a good idea to take a nap to survive it. I couldn’t even fall asleep! And, it kept me awake until 2AM. What magic is this. I am notorious for not being able to keep my eyelids open after any sort of party with little kids in attendance. As far as service goes, I didn’t have any issues with it. The girl working behind the counter was nice.

I think I need to move close by so I can have this experience as often as possible. Buttery tea and an Acai bowl in the morning, and next thing I know, and notice — I’m having an amazing day. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. It’s like love in a cup and bowl.

Came here today on a Friday morning & there was a good amount of street parking(beware during peak times!). It’s in a small alley next to the Tasting Kitchen but there’s a sign that points you to exactly where it is. Very cute, simple place & the baristas are friendly. I got a buttery brew($ 5) which comes hot with some ghee, coconut oil, & butter. It’s «bulletproof» coffee that is supposed to be food for your brain. It’s mixed well to keep the oils from separating & definitely needs to be enjoyed fresh. It has a slightly salty aftertaste & is great with a sweet treat to balance it out. My friend got me a fresh coconut cookie from The Conservatory Coffee & it was perfect. I must say it is pretty small for $ 5 but it did give me the energy I needed at work. I’m not sure if I would go out of my way for this place since it’s a little pricey but if I’m ever in the area & craving a buttery brew, I definitely wouldn’t mind stopping by again. Dog friendly!

You’ll be paying for the Paleo Granola bowl but without the bananas and you won’t be informed until u actually leave and realize that the bananas aren’t on top. I mean they should’ve mentioned that at first.

What an adorable little Venice gem! This friendly coffee spot is worth checking out. They serve butter coffee and tea as well as some smoothie bowls. The vibe is totally friendly Southern California healthy hippy. They’re located down a ally which has some seating. I’m glad we came across this coffee spot! If I lived here I would be a regular!

Really delicious and fresh gluten free and vegan breakfast place! I got the paleo granola bowl with almond milk and my husband got the peanut butter bowl. The flavors in my homemade granola were amazing and fruit on top was incredibly fresh. My husbands bowl was absolutely delicious as well. This place is a bit on the pricey side so its a great every once and a while treat.

Review 56⁄366 I first heard of coffee w/butter while watching«My Diet is Better Than Yours», and have always wanted to try it. One of my coworkers tried making it once, but I think she literally put a dollop of butter into her coffee– needless to say, it didn’t turn out so well. Better to leave it to the pros I guess. Anyways, when I found out Another Kind of Sunrise had Buttery Brew, it made my list of 140+ places to try automatically. This coffee shop is tucked away in a narrow alley on Abbot Kinney– if you aren’t paying attention, you could easily walk right pass it. The staff is very friendly, the shop is almost like a coffee stand, and there’s a couple of «seats» by the planters. Despite the lack of space, it’s such a cute little spot– I love it. My friend and I each ordered a Buttery Brew($ 5 each) to go. I didn’t think I’d like butter in my coffee as much as I did… but you can taste the butter and coconut oil. It’s almost like drinking a coconut flavored latte? It was sorta frothy ’cause they blended it– probably had to mix everything so the fat and coffee didn’t separate :) The coffee was good though! I encourage everyone to try it out at least once– or maybe share one w/someone. I found it too heavy to finish one myself. Anyways, this little gem lives up to its name– it truly is another kind of sunrise.

i literally found this place by accident. i stumbled upon it after taking a barre class at pop physique. without the signs, you would have never known it’s quietly tucked away in a little store front surrounded by flowers and little wooden garden shed(seats are minimal but plentiful). it’s strange yet beautiful. just my kind of place. think organic, locally sourced, fresh, raw, non-GMO, gluten free options… yup, it’s THAT kind of place. i already had coffee in my hands, so sad I didn’t get to try their coffee, but I wanted the acai bowl. let me tell you, i’ve been on an acai bowl kick for like the past month of my life. so i have tried quite a few places on the west side. every single aspect of this(squarish) bowl delivered. it was topped with a heaping portion of their homemade paleo granola, fresh berries, bananas and shaved coconut flakes. their acai is pureed and blended with coconut milk and cashews so it’s a little thicker, pastier and not as viscose or icy as some other acai bowls. it was pure amazingness. i was only able to get through half of it and got full from all the granola. needless to say, as i’m typing this, i am already savoring another one of these bad boys!

Great little spot tucked away on Abbot Kinney. Friendly staff and delicious buttery brew. I’ve also tried their protein muffin(the actual flavors switch up all the time) and have been impressed every time. The bowls look good as well, but I have yet to try. This is a good grab-and-go spot, but wouldn’t recommend to meet someone and hang out. There is a small bench but otherwise limited/no seating. The space itself is tiny as well. The good news is, this is the perfect place to pick up your morning coffee/healthy pastry if it’s convenient. I’ve also never had a problem with parking. Abbot Kinney can get busy but in the morning it’s perfectly fine.

Delicious!!! The menu was healthy, house-made, and allergy friendly. They did not only have plenty of gluten free options, but DELICIOUS options! I had a lemon olive oil muffin. I got a cold brew coffee with macadamia milk. I also love that all nutmilks are house made. I highly recommend for casual breakfast and coffee!

Acai bowl was good and the service was fast, this place packs up with cool hippy smart phone peeps. I wish there was WiFi signal but alas there was none. Never mind the spot is chill, quiet, great ingredients and helpful staff

Friendly staff. A cute place but seriously overpriced. A small peanut butter bowl(just like something you make yourself in your kitchen) costs $ 6. There are other places in this area /Santa Monica offering better food/coffee with reasonable price. Will not be back again. Saw other good reviews about Acai bowl($ 12) — seriously?

Not a fan. I came to AKOS when they first opened and everything was freshly painted. It was a neat spot, but the service was rude for no reason and the cereal was just cereal and the goji chia seed bowl was a small cup that costed a fortune. This place is way overly expensive and not uplifting in anyway. The second time I tried this place, which was recently because I heard it was under new management and it just seemed the same, except the paint was no longer fresh. Same underwhelming menu and same prices except for they have butter in coffee now. I think people who go here are Abbot Kinney folk that one can afford it and two just want a spot to hang out at. I don’t think anyone is flocking over for the cereal.

We had to try it once to see if it was worth the hype. $ 12 smoothies and $ 5 butter coffee about the size of a Starbucks small. The smoothie itself was tasty, and I liked the hazelnut milk and cocoa booster very much. But for $ 12 for what’s essentially frozen berries and some fancy nut milk? Yeah I’ll be making it myself at home from now on. But the butter coffee was interesting and I think may be worth the occasional splurge. I mean, if you’re spending $ 5 for a Starbucks anyways, might as well get something that is supposed to have some kind of benefits to it too right? This tasted better than most coffees too, and it doesn’t leave that aftertaste I dislike from drinking coffee either. Overall, tasty, overpriced drinks. But their buttery brew is worth the occasional splurge.

A real hidden gem. I am SO glad I found this place during my stay in Venice. The whole experience was unique from the homemade granola you will eat there to the chill beachy feel of this tiny organic paleo joint. I had an açaï bowl and after having it, I knew I had to come back one more time before I left Venice. Honestly, it was the best bowl I’ve ever tasted. The crunch and fresh flavors of the granola and fruit are just pure perfection for your taste buds. They also serve incredible homemade nut milks(macadamia, almond, hazelnut) and their famous buttery brew(ghee and coconut oil) coffees. My husband tried everything and loved it so much! I stuck to natural green tea. I wish I had AKOS in my city! Enjoy for me Venetians! Thank you ladies for your wonderful hospitality.

Expensive, underwhelming, and negative experience. Woman working at the stand was curt and blunt. I asked if they had frittata and she responded, «we have not had that for over a year.» Sorry I asked, it was my first time at your shack and and expected a more welcoming experience. The acai bowls should be labeled as granola bowls based on the ratio(80% granola). Definitely not worth $ 12 — paleo or not. I am not foreign to Abbott Kinney and understand food prices are above market. Regardless — two acai bowls and two butter coffees, and a snippy attitude for $ 34, I would rather take my business to Bulletproof on Main Street and get an acai bowl at Kreation Kafe. Regardless, I did leave a tip that represented the service received.

They have great coffee and healthy breakfast choices. And they have a new Robin Murez art installation. Come see both.
