Wednesday night is $ 0.25 wings and $ 1.00 draft nightly 4 – 7 pm. Very clean, nice place with delicious hot wings! Have heard great things about dinner menu too!

NOW REOPENED. One plate glass window away from the first Capitol of Illinois, where Abe Lincoln served with Stephen Douglas. And from the Madonna of the Trail monument, marking the end of President Thomas Jefferson’s National Road. Basic food freshly prepared. Monday closed. Tuesday-​Saturday 11am-​9pm and Sunday 11am-​2pm.

This is a great family restaurant. The staff is very pleasant and attentive. The food is very good. They just got their liquor license so you can enjoy your favorite beverage with your meal

Pork tenderloin sandwich was awesome! The fried green beans were very tasty also. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. We were the only ones there, so the service was great!

I’m always surprised when I return to Vandalia and there’s a new restaurant. In such a small town, anything new is a pretty big deal. Anyway, I tried this place last time I was in Vandalia for a while, and I was pleasantly surprised. The mac and cheese was SUPER creamy, and the mushroom and swiss burger tasted… real. The mushrooms were a little buttery, too, which was nice.
Service was so-​so, but not bad enough to keep me from going back. My only real complaint was the constant stream of country music playing on the TVs. Other than that, it was good food and incredibly cheap prices.

Great home cooking, friendly and welcoming staff and reasonable prices. You can’t ask for more. This gem gets high praise from me as I recently was visiting from Chicago. The food choices were great and the awesome apple butter left me wanting more! Please eat local and try this place once, even twice. It’s well worth it.

I have been here about three times and each time the service was pretty rotten. Our server forgets about us, the food takes forever, my mom’s meal was forgotten completely and no one discovered it for an hour when the REST of our food came out. The food was okay but I’d rather just go next door instead. I probably won’t be back. I think three times is plenty to not impress me.

I was in the area for work and came to the Old Capital View Restaurant with two coworkers. We were all blown away by the amazing down home cooking that they served. Everything on the menu (as described by our waitress/​woman who runs it all) is «fresh, fresh, FRESH!» Seriously — down to the homemade honey butter for the homemade rolls. My group and I had the Rib Eye steak with sweet potato and green beans (cooked with bacon), and we had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Not only was everything absolutely delicious, it was also fast service and they even gave us a free refill on our fried green tomatoes.
After dinner our waitress, Jessie, told us to go hang out at their bar for their wine and beer tasting event that supported the local junior wrestling team. This place definitely seems like the local hang out spot on any given day. They have a full bar with cheap drinks, and the whole bar was decorated in baseball memorabilia with a few flat screen tvs tuned into the game.
When I come back for work, I will definitely be back to eat here!
