We didn’t come here to see a movie. We came to use our groupon on the last day before it expired. Upon reading the recent reviews, I now understand why the place was so empty even though my boyfriend and I had a great experience there. Our groupon included a $ 50 wine card and a tasting plate. The wine selections weren’t the best I’ve ever had(would prefer more Zinfandels and Malbecs) but we had a great server, Michael P, who took the time to give us a thoroughly classy tour of the wine selections. The cheese plate was generous. 4 – 6 different cheeses, grapes, crackers, Italian cured meats. Beautiful ambience and an even more beautiful fireplace(I’m a sucker for a cozy romantic fire). Nothing wowed me and the best part of my experience was being alongside my main squeeze and receiving a warm-hearted experience from our server.

My wife and I went here to do their wine tasting along with the tasting plate. The bartender was very knowledgeable, the wine selection was generous, and the tasting plate was really good. We were able to sit there at our leisure, sipping on wine, and enjoying each others company. We will definitely do this again.

I have a hard time giving this place 1 star. Have to buy advanced tickets through cinetopia website instead of 3rd party(ie fandango). When we arrive they wouldn’t take the confirmation code or reservation email… I had to rebuy tickets and look like a fool in front of family… I waited to sort things out with management until after the movie, and by that time no one was available to help me. Paid twice for a movie. Poor management, customer service, and online ticket booking. Fix your website. Won’t be back until you do. But one star for decent wait staff and wine selection to be generous.

This used to be my favorite place in Vancouver to taste wines and see a movie with a superb cheese plate for munchies. Well no more. Came early to see a first run movie only to notice that it was bumped off the large screen for some animated Halloween crap. So head to the wine tasting room to find half the tape on the red side empty, 2 banks of syraahs, not one cabernet, one pinot. I have never been so disappointed here in my life. The bartender explained there has been a change in the investors but the wine selection really was poor and overpriced for 1oz tastes. Things may improve in the future but for now, my advice is to go to the mall where you will pay $ 17 a ticket to see a 3d movie.

Not sure what’s happening to this place. The wine selection is getting pretty small. The tasting room has 18 empty spots and 5 spots with bottles where empty bottles. I did mention it and they replaced some of them tho, still a lot of empty spots and looks bad. Had the pretzels and they are ok, the«bacon beer cheese» dipping sauce tasted like more of beer cheese chowder. Also a lack of salt kinda hurt the flavor here. The consistency was definitely chowder like and seemed like it would have had potatoes in it. The portobello mushroom fries where good and I did like thoes. Well seasoned and well, I like mushrooms and the flavor was there. Shared the prosciutto Alfredo for dinner. The serving size was definitely large enough to share. It has well cooked pasta, prosciutto, green peas, Alfredo sauce and herbs. The herbs and garlic in the sauce pretty much over powered the prosciutto. The pasta was cooked well though and it was an ok dish. The service seemed a bit slow at first, but they did it have packed theaters so it was pretty busy for the staff. The staff where nice and the service did pickup once the movies all started. End the end, quality is suffering here. We have eaten here in the past and loved it. It just seems they are letting things slide and we can only hope they save this place and turn it back into a great place to dine before seeing a movie in nicer theaters.

What happened to this place? We used to love coming here for dinner and a movie. The service used to be excellent. Tonight the bartender could barely be bothered to wait on us. Set us at a table with no settings. Brought bar menus. We had to ask for dinner menus. Waited 15 minutes for him to come back to take out order. Then our food was marginal. The fish was crispy and greasy on the outside and cold inside. The chicken strips were dry as a bone. What happened to your fries? They used to be so good. They are bland and tasteless now, not to mention soggy.

It was fine. The pretzel sticks were good and the garlic parmesan fries were ok. Chill bartender. Price was just a little too high for alright.

I can’t believe how slow the service in this place was. There were only 3 – 4 tables of people seated and my party of 5 including myself could hardly get a glass of water refilled. We were there for almost 2 hours, and not by choice. I paid $ 16 for a burger that I could pay $ 5 for elsewhere. I will not be eating here again.

The food is always good, however plan on waiting an extra long time for a drink or your food. The service is super slow with minimal people in the dinning area. It feels like they have pulled everyone to work the theatre menu and don’t have enough kitchen staff to keep up with it all.

I was really disappointed in the service! It took almost 30 minutes just to get a drink. My food was over cooked and not worth the price. The restaurant itself is very nice, its to bad the food doesn’t reflex it.

The food is below edible. I’ve tried this place three times because of the convenience. After this last week, I will not try again. I had the chef salmon special. The fish was undercooked. My wife had the mac ‘n cheese. The noodles were overcooked. I would recommend eating at Tommy O’s up the road and then go to your movie. When you consider the price the restaurant may be the worst in Vancouver, but the theatre is the best in the state.

They misinformed us on what movie was playing in the 21 and older section. My girlfriend got us tickets after being told we could have drinks while watching, when we got there that was not the case. The people where very helpful though and bent over backwards to make it right. Three stars for the people working that day, no stars for the lieing retard on the phone.

I waited in the restaurant before the movie because at this location wine isn’t allowed in the Grand Theater. I didn’t know that. It was ok. I had a Grenache blend that was ok. not bad. I had the mac n cheese too, which was good but a little bit too much cheese for my taste. It was $ 14 too… which seemed like a bit much but I splurged for once. I felt like in the end I would have been happier with the $ 8 popcorn. :) The waitress was really friendly though and appreciated her customer service. :)

My husband and I have become regulars now. Michael and many others on staff are VERY knowledgeable about the wines. They’ve helped us learn so much about the wines we love. They give us great service, take time to talk about our wine choices and help with wonderful suggestions. The last few months I feel the food has got much better. I can recommend each dinner entrée, they all are really good. The cheese board is my fave; it compliments the wine so well. I also really enjoyed the desserts with their dessert wines, OMG, orgasm in mouth moment with the chocolate cake and $ 12.50 per oz. dessert wine that is no longer there! It’s a fun time and we’re so lucky to live 3 minutes away!

The best time to go to Vinotopia(and the only time I personally will go) is when you can get the Groupon deal. You just cannot go wrong with $ 50 of wine tasting and a lovely cheese platter all for only $ 35. When you see this deal, jump on it for a nice date night! There is a wine dispensing room off to the side of the dining room with white wines on one side and red wines on the other all ranging from the sweetest through the dry. There were even a couple bottles of sake. You get a money card loaded with $ 50 which you slide into the card slot above the wine of your choice and then dispense an ounce of wine into your glass. The amount is deducted from your card and the prices range anywhere from about $ 1.60-$ 7.98 per ounce. Insert, dispense, drink, repeat. Take various wines back to your table to enjoy with a cheese platter that also includes meat, crackers, and nuts. I wasn’t very impressed with the chicken pesto pasta that I ordered from the menu. It lacked flavor and seasoning, even with the pesto. Something simple such as more parmesan cheese and garlic would have improved the dish greatly. The restaurant is a nice, warm atmosphere with an attentive greeter and servers. There is a fireplace with seating around it to relax with a drink while waiting for your movie at cinetopia. A nice thing about dining here is how the staff asks if you are seeing a movie, and if so, at what time. They will make sure you will not be late to your show. I would definitely recommend Vinotopia for wine lovers. Their wine menu is so large that it’s more of a wine bible! But I mostly recommend Vinotopia if you get the Groupon deal so you can learn what wines you enjoy the most or to enjoy mutiple wines.

If i could give more stars i would. not only a great experience just to watch a movie in comfy chairs but to have it in a 21+ with a beer and dinner brought to you is just mind blowing… i have heard of such movie theaters but never experienced till now. My husband and i went and saw the new movie«walk among the Tombstones». This was our first experience we have just moved here from California. We had a beer each and i had the pesto pasta bowl that was a great serving size and my husband had the cheeseburger with fries. All food and beer is sold separately. Not included with the movie price. Popcorn is normal price. i think we ordered a small for $ 6.00. they start taking your food orders about 20 mins before the movie starts so its best to get there 25 to 30 before the movie starts. The food is made to order. all fresh! This location is for all the wine lovers! This location has one full page dedicated to all sorts of wine you can have. if you want beer the movie theater at the mall i heard is the one to go to! The atmosphere in the 21+ movie theater was amazing. not only was it quiet, relaxing with the mood lighting. you didnt hear kids crying, talking loud or kicking your chair they actually have LIVE music by a muscian on a balcony to the left front of the movie theater. he played soft music with his guitar for about 10 mins while the food was being brought out by the servers. **tip** purchase your tickets from Costco. Only $ 19.00 for two people. Great price for going out on a Saturday night for 2. even better to eat and dine at the same location! Highly recommend someone who visiting Vancouver or even just a local wanting a night out!

My wife and I always visit Vinotopia before we watch a movie. This place has a great wine list. You can also decide how much you want to spend and load it on a card and then use it in their wine tasting room and sample wines by the ounce. The food is decent and we have eaten dinner here a few times but favor just ordering small plates and sipping different wines. Staff here is always friendly and helpful. I give it four stars for the friendly and helpful staff and the great wine list. The food did not blow me away but that’s not what I was there for.

My husband and I came on the 31st Tuesday night. he got a burger and added nothing to it because of the prices to add stuff to it, and I got the Pot Roast with mashed potatoes with a gravy sauce that was supposed to be a wine reduction but it looked more like brown gravy. The food was good, but not great I think I will eat before going to the movies lol

One of the few, but in the best– white table cloth restaurants in Vancouver. REALLY! Lots of options for Groupon, we used the wine tasting for two and a cheese/fruit plate, great value and fun. There’s a new Sommelier to help you with any questions you have about the wine stock and she is right on with the info and a great personality to go with her skills. Special wine tasting events around the beginning of the month call and see whats available and the specials. Service is good, not too noisy in the dining room so you can actually talk while enjoying your evening. We don’t always go for a movie but it’s great to just eat and even snuggle but the fireplace during these cold nights. try it you’ll like it…

My friend and I came here on October 2, 2013; Wednesday evening. We were nearly 50 minutes early for our movie so we decided to go hang out at the restaurant beforehand. My friend and I brought the customer total to five or six people. As we were walking in, the hostess was not there so we both walked up to the bar instead. The bartender didn’t bother to ask either of us for an IDs, and instead gave us two menus and asked if we wanted any drinks. I asked for something they didn’t have and my friend needed time to decide so we asked for a little time to look over the menu. After taking 15 seconds or so to look over the list of beverages on the menu we waited to order. After 10 minutes of waiting with no further service we moved to a table directly across the bar like 10 feet. A customer left the bar and a new one came in. The guy looked like a young kid and again no ID check as he plopped into a seat at the bar. A server and the bartender came by to tell us they would be with us soon. 10 more minutes passed and nothing. We looked around kind of confused seeing two customers in the dining area, and four of us around the bar. After five more minutes we decided to wait out the rest of the time in our theater instead. With how hazardously negligent the restaurant staff was we were probably lucky to not have eaten or drink anything while there. I wish I could give zero stars. I love coming to this location for their movie theaters. The really bad service, or lack of service in the restaurant area is awful. I will never eat there and I am sure the place will run into legal issues if they continue to not check IDs for areas designated for ages 21 and over. Extremely negligent staff I would advise anyone from dining at this place. What happened to this place?
