DONOTTHROW A BIRTHDAYPARTYHERE. Extremely unorganized and your«party host» is only there to bring you pizza and drinks — they hand you a slip of paper to «keep you on time» then get frustrated when you run over. I thought it would be similar to other places where the host stays to serve the kids, but instead they only drop things off. I couldn’t even get a pitcher of water for those who didn’t want pop. I was also overcharged(apparently an additional pizza runs $ 65 these days). The room we were placed in barely fit any adults in addition to the 10 children — I wasn’t expecting a room that was barely 8’x10’, if that.

I came here to take my daughter ice skating for the first time. The guy at the front got us all set up and threw in a seal to help my little skater get her balance on the ice. We had a great time.

Mountain view ice arena is literally my favorite place in the world. The staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful. I had never played hockey before, but it was so easy to learn here, and in no time at all, I became one of the regulars at MVIA. This place blows sherwood and valley ice rinks out of the water in my opinion. I have never given a 5 star rating before, but MVIA has certainly earned it!

Fun when we can skate. With hockey sessions, there are very few good hours for evening public skate. They also keep the temperature VERY cold. It’s close to home, so we go there when we can’t get to Lloyd Center.

If you are considering playing hockey here, I would say proceed with caution. In my three years playing here, the games competitive, mostly sportsman like and the quality of officiating actually quite decent. HOWEVER — right now, the rink is trying to mandate increased roster sizes to increase their margins. I see a few problems with that. 1) I’ve always thought the fees should be ‘team’ fees, not individual. If we have 10 players, or 18, the cost should be flat, because the expenses to the rink don’t change either way(except for insurance, which each individual should pay for.) 2) We’re paying a pretty nice premium for our ice time already. More players = less ice time per individual, and thus less enjoyment.(not to mention the problem of potentially adding players who might not be a good fit for the personalities on the team) 3) Speaking practically, their facility can’t support this mandate. Lockerrooms — most of which don’t include amenties(ie bathrooms, enough hooks, etc) — can comfortably accommodate no more than 11 – 12 players tops. Is there a fire marshal that would even allow them to make this move? The management has been reasonable in the past about listening to teams, and letting them state their case when trying to enforce rules(to maintain parity, for example). I hope they are reasonable in understanding just how unfair a minimum player mandate is to loyal customers who are happy to pay to play, but want to ensure themselves of enough ice time to justify the time and expense(including, in my case, a commute from SE Portland).

Great local rink with reasonable prices. We checked out the Friday night skate complete with disco ball, loud music and lights turned low. Unfortunately, the zamboni was broken and the ice was pretty choppy. The staff was upfront about the issues and offered a discount if skaters still wanted to skate despite the ice conditions. We decided to skate and had a great time! Whether watching or skating, you will want to dress warm!
