Wow. What an unexpected surprise. Where did this place come from?! On a whim, we ended up here, starving this evening after not eating all day. They certainly did NOT disappoint. The first thing I noticed when I showed up was how clean the place was, and how nice the décor was. It seems like they do care about customer service here — to the point that we were actually asked three times if we wanted something to drink(one right after another). No harm, no foul. I ordered Yellow Curry, my mom ordered Pad Thai — both with chicken. The presentation of the curry was so awesome! They serve it in little silver tins on a plate. The food itself was delicious. My curry was very flavorful and it had plenty of bell peppers and potatoes. I find when I get yellow curry, the onions outweigh the rest of it. However, this one was great. The serving size is definitely something worth mentioning in regard to the pad thai — it was huge. Price wise, it was awesome. My check came to $ 21 and some change. I thought maybe there was a mistake, because I’ve never paid so little to sit down and eat thai food — even for lunch. I’m very surprised to see another reviewer say the menu is small and it’s overpriced, considering the menu is literally 6 pages, front to back. I’m super excited to go back, and will recommend this place to friends/coworkers. Woooo!

I had a horrible experience. The staffs are super unfriendly ANDRACIST! They treat other American people really well. I am Asian and went there with my friends. They did not treat us like customers, not even as human beings. HORRIBLEPLACE, HORRIBLEPEOPLE. NEVER go there if you are not AMERICAN!!!

I ate there last night for the first time with my wife my son and his girlfriend. Although the restaurant is rather Spartan in Furnishings the food was quite good. This place is a welcome addition to the Salmon Creek neighborhood. I’ll be back.

Excellent, fresh food. Waited a bit but went at 6, the food was worth the wait. Plus is brown rice. Great wait staff.

This restaurant is absolutely consistent. You know how you go up a place and fall in love with a dish, only to go back at a later date and find that it is entirely a new creation? Don’t expect that here! If you like something, you will be sure to get the same flavors, textures and heat levels on your next visit. I really appreciate that every dish is freshly prepared, and the vegetables are perfectly cooked, retaining that little bit of crunch. The Sriracha chicken wings, shrimp Tom Yum fried rice and garlic pepper chicken with broccoli are a few of my favorite dishes. The staff is friendly and attentive… nothing overbearing in their service. When you’re seated, you immediately receive a menu. As soon as you put it down, you’re order is taken with a smile. A few minutes into eating, they come by to check on your meal. Excellent! We have a true gem in I am Thai. Very thankful they’re in Vancouver!

I enjoyed my Pad Thai Chicken Dinner $ 10 — good size portion, lots of noddles, a little light on the meat, eggs, onions, peanuts

MEDIOCREFOODTHATCATERSTOGRINGOS. This clean, well kept, new Thai restaurant has received high marks from other reviewers. Maybe I went on a bad day, maybe the other reviewers were high. The service was friendly and spot on despite an influx of a large lunch crowd. In fact, the service was the best part. I ordered the Crying Tiger, basically a slab of grilled beef on greens with rice and a dipping sauce. It was one of the worst Thai dishes I have ever had. Panda Express on a bad day would be better than this crap. First, the«beef» was not«beef». It was a type of venison, most likely deer or elk. Having hunted for more than 40 years, this was lean venison meat. I love wild game but it should not be labeled as beef. Second, the meat was not grilled, it looked like it was boiled or overcooked in water. It should have been cooked no more than medium rare, however this was as tough as boot leather. The spice racks they have here are not authentic and do a disservice to people who enjoy real Thai food, not watered down, gringo slop, for the elderly and ill-informed. Their«spice rack» consists of Sriracha in a bottle, ground dried chile, and a thai chile sauce. It was missing sugar, thai chilis in fish sauce, and was actually not a rack at all. It was an embarrassment to say the least, sort of like ordering salsa at a Mexican restaurant and receiving a tray with Pace Picante, ketchup, and banana peppers. The Khao Soi soup is Ok but a small portion for the price. The curry dish was had was prettied up in a metal container and tray but once again fell flat. It seems this place is trying to wow the locals with fancy metal pots, white ceramic dishware, and lacking a decent chef who knows what the hell he is doing. Overall, skip this lackluster rubbish bin and goto Thai Planet. They may have raised the prices there and have a new manager but the food is still better than this place. Aloha.

Good and fresh food. A little on the expensive side. Friendly service. The spice tray doesn’t have the hot chili oil or the fish sauce with Thai peppers in it which are my 2 favorite things that are usually on it. The salad rolls are $ 6.50 for 2 pieces. It is one cut into two pieces. They are good though. I would go again if in the area but I wouldn’t go out of my way simply because of small portions and higher prices compared to some other Thai restaurants that are closer to me. Maybe next time I’ll give lunch a try.

Curry favor with a little curry flavor. My wife loves getting 2 – 3 of their Thai dishes to go from this Salmon Creek restaurant appropriately introducing itself as I am Thai Eatery. Anytime it’s my turn to bring dinner home, becoming an «I am Thai» guy always curries me favor with her more than the normal burger, pizza, sandwich, or panda options. For me, dining-in is the better choice cause service is friendly and the clean simple atmosphere is relaxing … plus the food is just fresher. Either way(dine in or to go), I’m glad I am Thai Eatery is tucked away in this quiet strip mall between Starbucks and Albertson’s. Here are some recommendations: * Spicy Basil Fried Rice * Green Curry with Chicken * Pad Kee Mao(Noodles) * Spicy Cashew Chicken on Rice * Bao Bao Buns with Chicken * Beef & Broccoli Noodles * Spicy Chicken Wings * Red Curry with Tofu * Mango Sticky Rice for dessert Order whatever matches your mood(or your significant other’s mood whenever you need to curry favor) by getting Thai from I am Thai Eatery.

Cute little restaurant, a little pricey and small Portions. The food was good, it tasted very fresh and everything had great flavor. I would come back if I was in the area and craving Thai food, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. The menu is pretty small, but has the basic Thai classics.

This is a decent Thai restaurant… I give it 3.8 stars. The drunken noodle was really good. The pad Thai was just ok… didn’t have the depth of flavor that great pad Thai has. Also, I ordered medium spice on both dishes — while the drunken noodle came with a good amount of spice, the pad Thai had almost none. I thought that lack of consistency was strange. Also the atmosphere was a bit casual — more appropriate as a place for lunch than for dinner.

Just a quick shout-out to get this place on the map. Compared to most Thai places, it has a limited menu but they seem to have the basics and high points covered. Regarding the food, it’s fine by me. If you are looking for a Thai food afficiando, you better drive on. I had the pad thai and it was fresh, tasty, proportionate, not oily, etc. The entrees cost about 10 dollars. Not bad; the last time I ran my kids through Taco Bell, it cost 8 dollars per kid. It’s a nice looking place. They seem to be having some trouble with their on-line ordering system but most new places have growing pains. I like Planet Thai just fine but it’s nice to have a second choice in the area.

So convenient to be able to order & pay online through the Unilocal app. Also that its less than 2 mins from my house. Nice addition to Salmon Creek since SC is in dire need of more restaurants. No joke. I got tofu pad see ew. So good, not a ton of broccoli which I actually prefer. I added bamboo shoots which is normally an extra $.50 but they didn’t charge me. Thank you! Cute inside, rustic décor. Nice folks and quick service. I ordered on my phone and then drove directly there and it was ready to go! I appreciate that. P. S. the togo container(bottom part at least) is microwavable. Great for leftovers

I can’t believe that there’s now actually more than one Thai restaurant in the Salmon Creek area! I LOVE Thai food and I am Thai Eatery, for the most part, satisfies all of my Thai food needs. The food is just your typical Americanized Thai food. I am Thai isn’t bad, in fact, you’ll probably never have a terrible meal here — but it’s not the best Thai around. Prices are a bit steep(~$ 10/plate) for pretty small portions. But hey, that’s the price you pay to be able to eat out of cute little metal bento boxes and tiny bamboo steamers. I would suggest going for lunch, as the prices are slightly cheaper. I really enjoyed the menu due to the fact that it wasn’t completely overwhelming. They offer the basic Thai dishes like noodles, curries, and stir fry, but also a few unique added bonuses like steamed Taiwanese style buns with chicken(Bao Bao), thick sliced toasted bread coated in melted butter and sugar, and drenched with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream(Honey Toast), and fresh lime soda. Definitely order down when they ask you«how spicy?» All three times I’ve eaten here, the spiciness level was at least a full star hotter than normal. You can always ask for some extra chili sauce on the side, if needed. They didn’t skimp in the décor and service departments. You can tell that the owners really tried hard to make the place modern, clean, and casual, using wood plank tables/benches, and decorating with what I assume is artwork of Thailand. I wouldn’t want someone to take me on a romantic date here though, cause it’s not really that private or romantic(I have high standards). Although, the wait staff seemed to be very attentive and friendly, even during the busy lunch hour. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back again and again. Let’s just hope that a Phở restaurant opens up in the area next!

We were excited to see a Thai restaurant open just up the road on exciting NE20th. We are a bit spoiled from having traveled to Thailand numerous times and we even spent a day in a thai cooking school which was unforgettable. They have only been open one week so they deserve some time before being too critical; however, they also own Thai Terrace on Chkalov, so they should know the tricks of the trade. They clearly invested a lot into a nice kitchen and good size friendly staff. We had the Summer Rolls with Tofu, known elsewhere as Salad Rolls. They were $ 5.00 for two small rolls with very little ingredients. My advice: make them bigger and with more to enjoy than icelberg lettuce. We would pay more if they were better, but not order them again this way. Next we had the traditional Tom Yum soup with Shrimp for $ 13, it’s $ 10 with Chicken or tofu. It comes in a non– traditional standard bowl which is OK, but the flame is part of the Tom Yum experience. The soup had six large shrimp which was a great and the shallots, mushrooms, onions were not over cooked. Thebroth was tasty but it all got lost in an over abundance of salt. We asked for«hot» not extra hot or medium and it was perfect for us. So, our advise is to reduce the salt and let the nice broth do its job. We shared one dish they call Prik King which is a stir fry with string beans and a brown garlic flavored sauce. The string beans were not over cooked like the soggy chinese food we get around here. We had it with brown rice. It was strange because it was served over the rice versus on the side which is traditional and more fun to add as you go. Sadly, this dish failed. It was extremely salty, in-fact that was all we tasted and it was far too oily. What I think is happening is they are trained to serve the Mill Plain community where exotic foods are limited to lousy Chinese buffet food. People are accustomed to everything floating in oil and overloaded with salt and MSG. I hope they move more in the direction of healthy Thai food and not in the direction of horible lowest common denominaotor mall food like Happy Panda. I do think the Mt. Vista, Salmon Creek, and Felida communities along with Legacy hospital up the street could support an authentic Thai restaurant. I did tell the waitress and manager our observations as we want them to succeed here. Two stars because they are a new business so its up or down from here.
