Hey you want to get new gloves because there’s blood on them NOTFROMME! I mean really this is ideally a very clean place witch it is but really. I mean holy hell I saw this lady help out 8 people without changing gloves. I’m sorry no ONE person equals new gloves. If I get anything from this place I will freak the hell out. She was very bad at her job, in addition to that she called my freckles on my arm user scars or somthing along those lines. HMMM I HAVE freckles like most light completion people!!! Going to file an official complaint with management tomorrow morning as soon as they open. Do not go here.

I began donating to the American Red Cross Apheresis unit(near the Fremont Bridge, in Portland) in 1996. I live in the ‘Couv now, so I thought I would check out a closer alternative. The donors are mostly twenty-somethings covered in ink and piercings. Picture a Junior College career center with all the workers in blue scrubs or white coats. All the kids are dressed in black, eager for fast money, and dreading Grownup status. I waited in the lobby for 15 minutes while they reviewed my documents: W-2, Washington Drivers License, utility bill, and something else. Their intake coordinator answered the phone twice and handed out three scratch-its while reviewing my docs, and finally handed me the«Tattoo/Piercing disclosure Pictograph form». The guy in front of me asked if he could just circle the portions where he still had bare skin,(«it’ll be quicker»). NOPE, he was told. So my pictograph is blank, and his looks like a 4th grade Sharpie attack. A blue scrub asked me to «take a seat over there» as both video stalls were occupied: after 20 minutes I peeked around the corner and now they were empty. Nobody had come to invite me back, so I asked the blue scrub for headphones and started the video, «nobody gave you any headphones?» they asked in unison… Once they established that I wasn’t a headphone thief, I watched CSL’s Medical Director give his corporate spiel. When he finished, I stood up and handed my headphones to a white-coat nurse, who scowled at me and spewed, «you didn’t watch the SECONDVIDEO, now you’ll have to start over», I told her that didn’t know there was a 2nd video, the video’s host had stopped talking and the monitor had gone gray. I really didn’t want to watch that 12 minute video again. «We told you there were two videos, now you’ll HAVE to start over,» and she invited me to sit down at the other video booth to watch the same one I had just finished from the beginning. «No I don’t,» I replied and handed her my blank Tattoo disclosure pictograph and I walked out. Perhaps Nurse Ratched was pissed off because I had earlier inquired if I could leave by 2:30 pm(2 hours and 15 minutes from the time I asked), or maybe she doesn’t like guys without tattoos. We’ll never know: the American Red Cross staff have better manners, and they don’t treat you like you’re trying to get on Welfare. In the plus column, the«Aaron’s Rent-to-Own» furniture place is next door and a Dairy Queen shares the parking lot. The American Red Cross will continue to receive my platelets FORFREE. Nurse Ratched will never touch my veins.

Wish they would get some centralized training and get a few Cephalanalectomies. Wasted 4 days there and never got to donate! First time their nurse couldn’t tell a routine blood test from a whole blood donation. So I e-mailed their corporate office and they said she was wrong and I could go back in and donate. Next two times were not their fault because my red blood cell count was too low. Forth time I’M PISSED! I told them about my history of chest pain and medication changes the previous three times I went in. This time after sitting for 3 hours, I get told they need a copy of my most recent EKG from 7 months ago and a list of my current and discontinued medications. I was just at my doctor’s office the day before and could have requested them if I would have been told they would need them. They also put a huge bruise on my partner’s arm so he is unable to donate anymore because they don’t know how to find a vein the first try and if you have a purple bruise you can’t donate, even though THEY caused it!
