We’re new in town and relied on Unilocal to help us find a great place for breakfast. We were so happy here! The restaurant appears small from the storefront, but it’s very spacious, light, and airy inside. Our server was attentive and friendly. We ate amazing egg dishes that were two meals’ worth of food! The Denver omelette had six eggs and large chunks of ham. The veggie scramble was chock full of fresh vegetables and cheese. Home fries and coffee were both outstanding. We can’t wait to go back!

Yes! This is our favorite place to go and have breakfast on a Sunday morning. Expect there to be a wait, but it always move along quickly and it is well worth it. You can tell most of the customers are people that have been going there for years and years. The staff is incredibly friendly and I have never had a problem with the food that I’ve ordered. They also do take out which is awesome.

This is like the only place in Vancouver for breakfast that seems busy. I was excited to try it — that was short lived. Greasy, over seasoned food that I could make myself(if I cooked without passion). The owner is ignorant about food allergies(I imagine her staff follow her ignorance too) and will tell you there’s no such thing as a gluten allergy(like she did us). If you’re into the standard, greasy mess of food that could feed four people with one entrée, then this is your place.

I came here before heading back to Sacramento after a work trip. My order was rather simple– Bacon, Over Med Eggs, Country Potatoes, and Pancakes. The Bacon portion was huge. Three huge-thick cut strips. The eggs were cooked perfect. I wasn’t a fan of the country potatoes as they appeared to be a frozen product. The pancakes were simple, and great. Our server was attentive and polite. Overall– an excellent breakfast experience. This is a place I will return to again before an early flight from Portland.

Came here the other week and it was really good I like the portions and the environment. Friendly staff and also has a sign that says something like«be nice or leave» which is what every restaurant needs. There seems to be rude customers or staff at some places I’ve been to. I will come here when I get a chance again.

Came on weekday when not super busy. with two smaller children, thinking, ok, it’s not busy, great! Tables/booths open, should be able to go food fairly quickly …fast forward an HOUR… still waiting… finally asked our server and within minutes our food was being made… I could see kitchen and server so I could tell someone had forgotten our ticket, or forgot to rang it in… no apologies or anything… will not be back, we found a new and better restaurant, black bear diner!! much better service, and same big portions!!!

Ordered take out. Women over the phone was super patient and helped me figure out what I wanted since it was my first time trying their food and have never seen the menu. My food was ready and was done when they said it would be even on a busy Saturday morning and they were packed when I got there. As soon as I got home and opened those boxes the food smelled and looked amazing. Just that little bit of effort even making take out presentation look decent gives you 5 stars and separates this place from everywhere else because what it all comes down to is taste and it tasted amazing.

This place is amazing very hidden but so happy to have breakfast here. I use to every breakfast at denny’s shares but they were just a waste of money. Finally its feels like a home cooked meal. But ill officially be a regular how awesome!

Great bacon and great French toast! I will be back for the food, but beware of two things: the décor and the wait. It’s very eclectic inside, but the delicious breakfast makes up for it. Our waitress was ok, she wasn’t that friendly and took a really long time to get back to us on anything. But I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt because it was a full house. It’s definitely a community place. I would be back!

This place is awesome. One of the best breakfast places in town. The staff is always amazing and the food is good quality and big portions. We’ve eaten there many many times and tried different things and it’s all been extremely good. They have a wide selection of comfort basics.

The reason I love this fine establishment well mainly because of the portions while they are satisfactory there pretty big as well. And whenever my mom and her boyfriend split a meal they don’t just give one of them an extra plate they totally split it so it’s equal which I think is very nice of them. Other than the fact that it’s mostly if not always busy it’s worth it all the way. The people are great. By the looks of it the people who come here are regulars who know what they like and particularly where they like it. All in all having just moved to the area breakfast at Valerie’s has been my favorite meal of the day. Signed your loyal 14 year old customer

Valerie’s is in the corner of a strip mall and could very easily be missed, but having locals to guide to it helps. Valerie’s is nothing special to look at and has a very mild décor but do they ever make up for it in the food! WOW jumbo wagon train trail sized plats full of enough food for two meals, which is is exactly what we did. I had the club sandwich standard fair but it was perfectly laid out toasted bread not hard fresh moist layers of tasty goodness and crinkle fries. I ate half and had the other half for dinner. My daughter had the big red neck, see the pix to believe it, she weighs like 100 lbs and ate half of it! they have great gravy, had to taste it. giant sausage with eggs on top and a full plate of hash browns…2 meals. Ric had the Chicken fried steak it came with not one but two chicken breasts slathered in brown gravy and served with tots. again his dinner was the second half of the meal. Dang we need a place like this in SoCal. wait no we don’t, I would get fatter than I already am… no we need one… I’m good, bring it! Yum-O-Rama

I loved this place so much I decided to write a review of my overall experiences during my stay here here in Vancouver. It’s minutes from Portland, Spacious parking, makes up for how much this place gets busy. Since it was just myself, I happily got seated at the bar and within minutes from ordering with my friendly waitress I received my breakfast. to start off. WOW the portions are a lot, no wonder why the waitress informed me that I might have left overs to take home! Lol. I ordered the all American breakfast so delicious! My second time was even better. A restaurant that sticks to their servings. Not only is the food on point but the customer service is too. I look forward to come back again!

Having just dropped off my son’s dog for a dental cleaning, I knew I’d never be able to make it back across the river to Portland with all that morning commuter traffic in my way. So I checked Unilocal for the nearby breakfast places and found this one, right across the street. It lives up to its great reviews: good service, decent coffee, amazing cinnamon French toast, huge portions; and on a Friday morning, no wait — lots of empty tables, although all the booths were full. The portions are indeed large(see my pic of the French toast — the other plates being served nearby were every bit as big) and the marionberry syrup was super tasty! I’ll definitely be returning again and I definitely recommend Breakfast at Valerie’s if you’re in the area. I’d even wait in line if I had to :)

Sadly, my Valerie’s experience was not amazing. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash after a lackluster response from my waitress when I asked her what dish was their best. I ran out of coffee twice, my well done toast was browned ever so slightly and was chewy. I did not see the waitress again until after I had finished my meal. The food was just a little better than average. The coffee was much better than average but the service was lacking. Valerie’s was nothing special, not unique in any way. With places like Carol’s Corner Café in the neighborhood this Unilocaler sees no reason to visit Valerie’s again.

We had always been saying we’d be back after visiting about 3 years ago. We were in the area and finally made it back. We were really there for lunch but one of us had breakfast and the other had lunch. One of the daily specials was the bbq hamburger. Wow! It was big and absolutely delicious. I would return just for this hamburger. It was so good and so big but I couldn’t eat the whole thing. The breakfast consisted of biscuits and gravy plus a couple eggs. We arrived after the 12 – 1 lunch hour was just finishing up. We had no wait, sat right down and were served right away. This time everything was just perfect. And, we will make it a point to visit again down the road.

The portions here are huge! One breakfast plate can easily be shared with another person! The wait is long you do have to sign in on a small yellow pad by the door. There’s no staff to greet you at the door but because this place is constantly busy you will see somebody sign in and follow or somebody waiting will be nice enough to tell you. The staff stays busy and they try to help you the best they can in the best time they can(again they stay busy). The only dish I got with my breakfast that I was disgusted with was their crepes. Do NOT order it! It’s too thick with no flavor to it. I couldn’t even bring myself to take second bite. Opt for their pancake! They’re huge and fluffy! Very yummy.

First, a tip for anyone who will visit for the first time: you have to sign in with your name and the number in your group on the little yellow pad up front, otherwise you will wait forever. There’s no sign or staff to tell you to do so, though some nice patrons may tell you if you get lucky. ;) Second, the service will be slower than you think is necessary. We waited for probably about 10 minutes even with booths sitting open. The reason seems to be that all staff members are servers, bussers, and hostesses. No one fills just one type of role in the restaurant. So be ready for a wait even if tables are sitting open. Just part of the deal when running a place with minimal staff. That said, the service is friendly. They do work as fast as they can, they are pleasant even with all they have to do, they are accommodating, and the food comes out quickly. HUGE portions, and so delicious. None of us was able to finish our plates. If we did, there would have been some serious regret afterwards and probably some reign time on the porcelain throne. We got the Country Fried Skillet; the Ham Steak breakfast; the Meat Lovers’ Skillet; and the Redneck BG: 7 biscuits topped with a big sausage patty and smothered with sausage gravy and topped with 3 eggs, cooked however you choose. Goodness, it was all so delicious. Go and give it a try. You don’t come here for hipster or unusual food. You come here for traditional breakfast done big and done well.

This is America. Have an American breakfast with huge pancakes, huge bacon, and huge servings for huge people. Embrace who you are, you fatty, you. Breakfast at Valerie’s isn’t cheap, but you earned those U.S. dollars, so, use them however you want. And I’m proud to be an American, eatin’ a breakfast feast for three. And I won’t forget the pigs ‘n chicks that died, who gave that right to me. And I gladly sit down, next to you with bacon ‘n eggs today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love breakfast, God bless the USA. It’s called«The All American Breakfast.» * 3 Eggs * Choice of Pancakes, Potatoes, or Toast * Choice of a huge helping of meat: $ 9.50 — Bacon — Link Sausage — Burger Patty $ 9.75 — Ham Steak — Country Sausage — German Sausage $ 9.95 — Eggs Benedict — Center-cut Pork Chops — Country Fried Steak — 8oz Top Sirloin $ 10.50 — Burger Steak $ 11.50 — Ribeye Steak If you’re feelin’ just a little red, white, and blue, then you can downsize to «The Little American» breakfast with just 2 eggs and smaller portions. Oh, there’s Omelettes, Waffles, French Toast, Biscuits & Gravy, Crepes, and probably some healthy stuff like Fruit at Valerie’s, but you’re an American, son. Eat like one.
