LAX FlyAway

We used Flyaway twice in May and June to LAX. Very good experience. And had a little happy surprise: we lost our BMW car key on the bus (we did not realize it until unable to open the car) and the lady driver kept it at the manager’s desk for us to pick up. (We already prepared to order another car key and expecting a significant trouble and expense.)
Our experience with Flyaway: We ordered round trip tickets thru their website, drove 20 min from home to Flyaway parking lot. Parking lot was almost full, 4^th or 5^th floor was the only lot we could find. It took 5 min down to waiting lobby. They started loading luggages 10 min before leaving for LAX. need 60 – 70 min to LAX. they dropped you off at the your terminal, driver would take your luggage out. you may need to give him/​her tips (2 dollars for two pieces of luggage, I assumed). When returned, you waited under the sign of Flyaway and watched for Bus to Van Nuys. again, it took 1 hour at least to Flyaway station, gave tips to the person who brought out your luggages, scanned your bus tickets, inserted your parking ticket and paid the machine, picked up the check out ticket and went to parking lot.

Generally superb… they have become almost 100% automated with their parking and airport bus tickets and that is actually kind of irritating. The parking payment machine is a real pain in the ass usually and requires inserting credit card multiple times. And, when you go to drive out of the gate, it takes forever for them to process your validated (paid) parking pass before the arm lifts up and you can drive off. They do have a security guard or two but I’d say the place is not all that secure. $ 4 per day for parking is not bad. $ 18 for the bus trip to the airport is way better than taking a cab or Über. If you’re going for a long trip, especially during the summer, don’t park outside on the main floor, or on the rooftop. Your car will bake. Even putting stuff over the windshield and back window is not enough. I speak from experience. Always park inside.

I use flyaway buses all the time to all different locations as I work in the airline industry. After a 16 hour day… I was waiting for an hour the 2:00pm and 2:30pm bus never showed collecting about 30 people at terminal 4. Once a bus finally showed at 3pm they pulled up, they let on a few people on and said they were full, then again had to wait another 30 minutes from the next bus. Just be careful as they are sometimes unreliable. So get there extra early in the morning and then average wait from 30min to 2 hours to get on a bus sometimes. Bummer. Not using them again.

Van Nuys flyaway raised their prices to $ 9 one way, $ 18 round trip. Annoying, but still the best way to get to the LAX. They make stops at every terminal so it’s convenient and you don’t have to deal with 405 traffic.

I’m happy this place is here because it is very convenient for me. I usually take the flyaway and then an Über ride back to my house from the can nuts location to save money. It’s pretty cheap to go from LAX at $ 9 a person. The bus comes every 30 minutes for pickups from the terminals. I have never had a problem with this company. The buses are fairly clean and the drivers know how to get through traffic and take better routes to avoid delays if possible. My go-​to company for a ride home from LAX. The facility at Woodley is not bad and there are security officers everywhere so it makes it feel safe. I haven’t parked my car here yet but my Mom had and has had no problems.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The heavy set African American woman with glasses is EXTREMELY rude! They have a policy where they close the doors 2 min before bus leaves which is ok, except it was 4 minutes before and she was rude saying we were too late and they sold me the ticket assuring I’d take the bus. they were still boarding the bus with luggages. I asked for a manager «none on duty» I asked for a name «I don’t have to give you my name» someone else stepped in and began being rude to me for no reason. I tried getting a customer service number and they said «look online» I’m gonna email everyone I have to about how horrible this service was. I will NEVER take flyaway again!!!

Man has this place changed since 1996!!! A parking structure, a cattle prod line up, the ticket prices!!! Very organized and a fabulous staff! They got us to airport quick and painless.

I’ve taken the Flyaway on multiple occasions and they’ve always come through. This last time, I used the parking structure and left my car for four days. I showed up minutes before the 7 pm departing bus and purchased both tickets at once. The machine doesn’t take cards with chips so I had to use the person in the booth for my transaction. They do not accept cash for the bus tickets. There was some traffic as we got closer to the airport but the ride was quick and pleasant. Still beats driving yourself down there or asking someone for a ride.
What I liked most was that it’s only 4 bucks a day to park your car. I had inquired at garages very close to LAX and it was 16.95 a day, minimum. The machine for the parking does accept cash or card, just don’t lose your ticket while enjoying your trip ;)

Best way to get to the airport EVER! $ 8 each way, couple of bucks for a tip. Can’t beat the price. Get to ride in the carpool lane and not have to drive-​fabulous! Knowing the way around sig alerts or bad traffic-​priceless!
Great station with vending machines and clean restrooms. Leave your car there for $ 4 a night. This is the only way to go.
Catching bus from LAX back to station. Super easy. Go stand under the green sign that says busses/​shuttles and grab the Van Nuys bus. When people come in town, I have them do this and pick them up at the Flyaway.

I’ve used this bus service to LAX for over 30 years and it has always been a great alternative to driving myself and paying way more for parking at the airport. I have no complaints about the bus drivers nor the luggage handlers-they’ve all been great. The one exception is the lady in the ticket booth. First, I walked up to the window and waited while she fussed around looking for something on the floor or under her desk, never acknowledging my presence with something like «I’ll be with you in a minute» or some other normal courtesy.
Then, when she finally brought herself around to wait on me, I told her the machine was having trouble reading my parking ticket. Before I could ask her how I could go about paying it so I could leave, she snapped at me that she doesn’t handle parking, and said «you need to go to the round thing over there», and proceeded to act like I wasn’t there. Never made eye contact with me, just yelled at me. I had no idea what the round thing was, but I saw it on the other side, and saw a sign that says information. The gentleman there was very kind and took my payment.
Now, if you’re not familiar with the terminal, it’s a large room full of benches and machines, and one ticket booth on one end and the information booth towards the other end. If you have any questions or issues, those are the only 2 places to go to speak to a person, and the information booth looks empty until you get right up to it, so you think the ticket booth is your best bet. This is not the first time I was treated poorly by this lady, but the other times, she was just indifferent, or gave the impression that you better just make the transaction and don’t dare ask any questions. I was pissed that she thought she could just yell at customers and try to intimidate them. I read another persons review that also complained about her yelling at them, but somehow, this was put in the «reviews that were not recommended». I give the flyaway 5 stars, but her, zero, until she gets an attitude adjustment.

It’s $ 9 one way now. Parking is $ 4.00/day.
WATCH OUT for the… Um Middle eastern driver. A guy about 45. Holy shit he bounces the steering wheel back and forth to the music at 60mph while pounding energy drinks.
It was scary and probably terrible on the bus’ tires and suspension. Not to mention passenger comfort.

This place has made a lot of improvements since I first started using them in the 90’s. It’s bigger and a lil nicer looking and roomier inside. But I much rather have it look like the way it used to be if it meant the fares were the same. I could’ve sworn the fares were even as low as $ 8 round trip within the last 10 years. But the prices have been steadily rising. $ 9 EACH way now. However, my daughter, under the age of 5 was free. So that was at least good.
I still think the prices are lower than taxis! It is also lower than NYC bus shuttles. So I its still a bargain. Parking, which I didn’t use is cheaper than airport parking.
Why only 4 stars? IMHO, think they could use more amenities. How about a Starbucks or at least a vending machine that sells those lil cappuccinos and coffees? Or let Defranko’s across the street have a lil space there for sandwiches. Maybe let someone have a kiosk with last minute travel items? Or my biggest request… shuttles that leave a lil more frequently?
Those things would make the flyaway AMAZEBALLS! Just sayin… am I right?

Friendly service and the best way to go and not worry about traffic in the morning! Really simple to purchase tickets! A one way trip is just $ 9 so that will save you money on gas and having a headaache when driving south on the 405 freeway. They do have multiple spots (ie Union Station, Hollywood, and etc) well it is time for me to relax while I head to LAX :-)

The staff that works here reminds me of the crowd you’d find in some old Antonio Banderas flick with a run down Texas bar and a guy with an eye patch.
I use to love the drivers, but we’ve got Ameka or whatever her name is from the Saturday late shift and she’s about as friendly as a can of bear mace. I think I’ll pass on the Fly away. The cheap parking doesn’t justify the crazed employees.
They STILL have some AWESOME drivers, don’t get me wrong. But, a few sour apples are ruining the experience for so many people.

Okay let’s face it, driving from the valley to LAX on the 405 is a bitch. FlyAway provides a really nice alternative, especially if you’re traveling alone.
A one-​way trip used to be $ 8, but it is now $ 9. Still super affordable. You can buy tickets with a credit card ahead of time online (which I find to be easiest), or you can use the machines in the station. Then you just sit back and relax in the clean charter bus, as your bus driver takes you to/​from LAX.
The indoor station at Van Nuys is a lot nicer than the other FlyAway stops and pretty well-​kept too, so even if you’re using the service at odd hours, it’s not sketchy.
Overall, a great service.

I have never used this service before, but I have been to this location on many ocassions for one reason or another. In addition, I have many friends, family, and associates that use this service. I can say, by word of mouth alone, that not a negative thing has been said about the FlyAway.
In my experience, the staff seemingly is courteous and the location /​facility is always well kept and clean.
If you live in the San Fernando Valley, and need to get to LAX without issues then this is the service to use!

What a nice alternative getting to LAX and back. Should have used the service sooner. I’ve known about the Flyaway shuttle for years and I know several friends who have used and recommended Flyaway. Should have listened to them.
Van Nuys to LAX
Took the 8:30PM bus on Thursday, 01÷21÷16. Tickets are bought at the kiosk. NO CASH. Credit cards only. Our bus driver was courteous and friendly. The trip to LAX took about 50 minutes and we got off at Terminal 4. I was surprised how gentle and smooth the ride was.
LAX to Van Nuys
Arrived on LAX Sunday, 01÷24÷16. Caught the bus back to Van Nuys at Terminal 4 around 1PM. The trip took about 35 – 40 minutes. The ride was smooth and gentle as before. On the bus window I saw and scanned a QR code and allowed me to purchase my tickets ahead of time.
The bus driver on this particular trip was very hard to understand. Not sure if he was speaking english but I believe he was talking about safety and emergency exit. He explained this while looking up like Ray Charles not making any eye contact with the passengers. On top of that he had a bit of an attitude. He took his time unloading the baggage and he seemed to enjoy making us wait.
Great service. Ride experience may vary depending on bus driver. Ticket cost as of this writing is $ 9 one way.

Park your car in a safe and secured lot, buy a ticket and wait a short time for a bus to handle all the stressful driving to LAX for you. Then get conveniently dropped off at your particular terminal; just stay alert for your stop. What’s not to like about it???

Used them for a cheap ride to LAX. Bought our round trip tickets online. Prices are fair.
* Make sure to tip your driver.
* Know which terminal you’re going to and pay attention so you get dropped off at the right place. (Don’t fall asleep)!

Like going to the DMV or Post Office.
Indifferent employees, crummy, horrible service.
Avoid it if you can.
Black employees that hate white people.
UBER is now available for pick ups and drop offs.
The far better choice.

Flyaway, thank you for great customer service, cheap parking, and a stress free way to get to and from LAX.
Dispatch is very courteous on the phone and helped my wife out in getting us home on time.

I found this place very easy to get to and parking was accessible. They have handicap parking which is great. The flyaway is only one terminal where on one side the buses arriving from LA stop and then all parties coming into the fly away from LAX are checked in. I think you are able to take the flyaway to LAX as well.
I believe the fee is still $ 8 which avoids the traffic you run into on the 405 and arrive in the valley in about 30 – 60 minutes upon your arrival at LAX.
This is a great alternative.

Today at 10:10 AM, I purchased a round trip ticket for $ 16 from your Van Nuys location to LAX. There was a bus about to leave (presumably the 10 am bus). According to the Van Nuys location’s schedule listed on the website, the next bus should’ve been departing at 10:30 am. However, I was told by a Fly Away employee AFTER I BOUGJT MY TICKET that the bus was full and that the next bus wasn’t scheduled to arrive until 11 AM, AN HOUR FROM THEN! Two days before Christmas!
So I can only assume either the Van Nuys Fly Away is running less busses during holiday season than usual, or the website’s bus schedule schedule need to be updated? Either way, not cool and unacceptable.
Even more unacceptable is that their website and tickets and anything cite a NO REFUNDS policy.
As a direct result of their incompetence, I missed my flight, even though I had showed up at the Fly Away two hours beforehand, what should have been more than enough time.
I’m currently in the very long AA ticket line (once again, as a direct result of the Van Nuys Fly Away), and I might have to spend an additional $ 75 to get on a flight in 6 hours.
So I’ve lost an entire day of my life/​time with my family. Huge, huge, gigantic mistake to trust timely transport with them. Thanks, Fly Away!

My experience with the LAX FlyAway was hassle free.
Keep in mind that I literally didn’t know what I was going to do when I landed in LA because all my friends and significant other were working that day and I just didn’t want to spend so much on an Über or a Super Shuttle. I came across LAX FlyAway after doing a brief search online before I boarded my flight. As soon as I landed, I was like, sure why not.
There are so many signs pointing where the LAX FlyAway pick up locations are. Yes they do have buses going to different destinations but you have to make sure you see that on the sign above the bus. I remember running into a girl and she had no clue which FlyAway bus is going where but clearly she didn’t take the bus often so, yes, ask the bus driver just in case.
As soon as the bus arrived, the driver placed all our luggages below and you just hop on. So easy. And you don’t have to pay until the very end. I recommend sitting in the front in case if you don’t want to have to wait for people to pay. Also, credit cards only.
Going from Union Station to LAX might be a different story, but I’ll wait to see how that goes on my next flight out of LA!

I have used the flyaway since I was a kid, but most recently I have had some issues. My last time using the flyaway it literally overheated and broke down on the side of the freeway. After 15 minutes we were able to get the buss rolling again, but the damage was done and it resulted in me sprinting through the airport.
Parking and the service itself is convenient, I just hope they take better care of the shuttles.

FlyAway is my and my family’s main mode of transportation to the airport and has been for several years. Easy to get to, easy drop off area and short term waiting area, a big garage to leave your car overnight in for a fair price, friendly staff, and great driving! The buses are always on time and there’s departing times every half an hour or so; the same goes with the buses that pick you up outside of the airport.
I’ve always had good experiences, the buses have been clean, and also quiet inside no matter the amount of people. The location is well lit, clean inside with bathrooms, vending machines, and a good waiting area. The prices are great at $ 8 one way.

I normally abhor the idea of any kind of public transportation, or anything even remotely related to that… But I have to say that I received fairly exceptional service with the Van Nuys Flyaway service.
The people were really nice, the buses actually arrived on time, leaving Van Nuys as well as picking us up and leaving from LAX. There were no crying babies, no senior citizens breaking their hips around us, and no gang members throwing up their hood. The parking is cheap, and your vehicles are well protected from alien attacks and what not. The service is top notch.

Like other reviewers have said getting to the airport is fine. Getting back is a whole different story.

Flyaway is the best thing that’s happened to me (other than finding love). As a frequent traveler who has expended the generosity of all of her friends with rides to/​from LAX, the $ 8 one-​way without the hassle of driving or parking before a trip is more than worth it. For extended trips, parking is in a huge structure for only $ 4/​day. You won’t find that anywhere close to LAX. The lot has has 24-​hour security.
The waiting wing is actually quite beautiful, with tall ceilings, all glass windows, and a modern design. Staff has always been friendly and helpful.

Well lit, with ever-​present security, convenient for Valley-​ites, clean restrooms, inexpensive and fast… that’s LAX (formerly called Van Nuys) Flyaway. I’ve been using this service for years, especially when I don’t want to pay for long term parking at Lot C– LAX. The bus is non-​stop (unlike those pesky shuttle vans).
The parking at Flyaway is multi-​leveled and covered with an additional large, secure uncovered lot. Bring your sunshade. Currently $ 4 per day.
You can buy your one way ticket $ 8 or round trip $ 16 from the ticket booth or at the self-​serve kiosk. The luggage handlers always seem to be happy, especially when you tip them $ 1 per bag. The bus drivers are nice and point out the emergency exits and location of the fire extinguisher. The buses are very modern and clean and even have seat belts. There are foot rests (!) and overhead lights. Unilocal tip: The first two seats on the right and left sides of the bus have tray tables (if you’re noshing on your way to LAX.)
Sit back, relax, and write a few Unilocal reviews while you let someone else do the driving to LAX!

Absolutely the best way to go when flying out of LAX.
$ 4 a day for parking is such a steal in the Los Angeles area. The parking lot is large, clean and well lit. Fantastic!
A round trip bus pass from Van Nuys is $ 16. It’s very nice to get on the bus and not worry about the traffic on the 405. The buses are clean, air conditioned and have WiFi. Every driver I’ve had has been friendly.
This is my go-​to method for dealing with parking and traffic when flying out of LAX.

How much easier can it get? I did not long term park so I don’t have anything to advise about that. A round trip ticket is $ 16, can be bought in advance or at the terminal. The terminal is currently accepting credit cards only. It was 45 minutes in heavy traffic from Van Nuys to Terminal 1. The guys stow your luggage for you. Give ‘em a tip! They take good care of you. BTW, I did not find any plugs on the bus as advertised but there is free public wifi.
On the way home I found the plugs!! They’re right in the middle between the seats about knee level, maybe lower. Again, 50 minutes from Terminal 2 to Van Nuys in 5:30 drive-​time traffic. Can’t beat that if I tried!

Okay service, but getting back from LAX can take forever, seems like a few more buses might be a good idea. Post 9 – 11 air travel is bad enough without adding yet another delay. Probably why I prefer to drive to LAX depending on the time of day. Still, this is a handy service if time is not a big factor for you.

For all the years I’ve lived in Southern California, for all the years I lived in the San Fernando Valley, and for all the years I’ve been accessing LAX, why I never utilized the services of the Van Nuys FlyAway is beyond me. When I recently visited my daughter in NY and returned home in the middle of a workday, I had no one available to schlep out to LAX to pick me up, and I didn’t want to spend $ 60+ to use Super Shuttle. Someone recommended to take the FlyAway, and I thought, gee, why haven’t I used them… ever? That has now changed.
It was the easiest thing to do. I bought my ticket online. I didn’t need to commit to a date… the expiration date was off in the future. LAX has all the ride options well indicated, so there is no confusion where to wait for these busses. You give your bag (s) to the driver, let him load them onto the bus, you board the nicely air-​conditioned bus, and once he stops at all the terminals for pick-​ups, away he goes, and 40 minutes later (unheard of, I know), we were in Van Nuys. When you are exiting the turnstile to find your car or ride home, THAT is when they ask for the ticket you purchased ahead of time. So easy. Honestly, there is no reason on earth why I should subject anyone to having to schlep to LAX… Van Nuys is so much easier.

Arriving around 8:30pm. Ticket office close already so need to use the kiosk. Very easy to use. Swipe the credit card, enter how many tickets… viola, done! $ 8 each way. $ 4 parking fee per day. Super affordable.
They start check in the passengers 20 mins before departure time. Plenty of time for the staff to load all the luggage. Very efficient! No delay, take off on time!
No stop in between, straight to airport. Depart at 9pm sharp, arrive at terminal 1 at 9:35pm! Love it~

FLY AWAY BUSES. No toman responsabilidad de sus propios errores, si los usan, pongan especial cuidado a su equipaje, el Jueves 25 de septiembre, a las 7am, mi amiga y yo, tomamos el bus en Van Nuys hacia el LAX, terminal #3, cuando nos bajamos del bus, a las 8 am, mi amiga tomo su maleta, y le pregunte al Driver, donde estaba mi maleta, abrio el compartimiento y me estaba dando una maleta con tag #2, por supuesto no era la mia, en la terminal #2 le havia entregado mi maleta a otro pasajero, con poco cerebro tambien, porque se llevo mi maleta. Llame a la compañia de buses, di mi nombre, no se molestaron en preguntarlo, y me dijero que no era culpa del Driver, colgue muy molesta. A las 9:37 am, finalmente pude contactarme con la mujer que habia tomado mi maleta, pero, la acababa de poner en el bus de regreso a Van Nuys, mi vuelo salia hasta las 10:55am, y todavia me pregunta que si yo tenia su maleta, a lo que conteste, que «no, yo conozco mi maleta, y no agarro lo que no es mio», su vuelo salia a las 9:55. Al final esta pareja de decerebrados, arruinaron mi viaje, perdi el dinero de mi vuelo, y gane un millon de stress. Esta compañia de Fly away, no tiene ni siquiera un escritorio en el aeropuerto, donde las personas puedan ir a dejar la maleta, cuando toman la equivocada, y tampoco tienen formas para llenar cuando suceden problemas, y en esta compañia la politica es «El cliente nunca tiene la razon». Este papel, era el que tenia mi maleta cuando me la entegaron, hasta mi nombre esta mal escrito. Por favor compartir, para alertar a las personas que usan este servicio
