I really enjoyed our meal. The serving sizes are huge. The waitress and service was great. I only wish we didn’t have to all be squished into one booth since there were five of us and they sat us at a table for four with a chair in the end. I had to put my purse on the floor and there was really no room on the table and our elbows were bumping into each other.

February 2, 2016. Thought I’d give this bbq another try. Had high hopes but of course it’s the worst bbq you would have. Ordered a hot link sandwich, the links are not bad but not great at best edible. I also ordered a side of ribs. Wtf are they charging 17 dollars for day old tasting ribs with the sauce on the side. Unbelievable. Sorry just had to vent. Never again. If you want good bbq. Stay out of the valley. Hit up Mr Phillips and Woodys over the hill.

This is the VERYBESTBBQ in Southrrn California. All the entries are super, I prefer the hot links while wife goes for the chicken. Beans are awesome as well as the Coke slaw and other sides. If you are not full also try the pecan pie!

The food is about two notches above Alpo at best. I have no idea how they claim to even remotely resemble Texas BBQ.

I seriously love this place ! Spicy bbq is heaven ! The bread ! The butter for the bread ! Everything is amazing ! I always get the beef brisket and hubby gets the pulled pork sandwich and we share and end up taking some of it home. Portions are big and we usually end up spending around 30 to 40 dollars so pretty good for Sunday fun day with our little one. She loves the French fries !

The BBQ is drowned in very sweet juice/sauce which makes it almost too sweet to eat. The sides were decent and our waitress was very nice. Unfortunately it fell short of our hopes for good BBQ.

Oh, I love their brisket. And the hot links. Good ribs as well, but the brisket. It’s worth the trip. But loose the tragic plastic bags when boxing the food — it’s just too much trailer park for me.

Don’t know how this restaurant ends up with a 3.5, think it’s probably a few spoiled kids ruining the reputation of a fine joint. the best BBQ in the valley, by a mile.

This place used to be bbq heaven, now it’s bbq hell. Stay away, far far away. You have been warned. I mean, unless you enjoy soggy, old meat, then by all means check this place out!

So different from Texan BBQ. It’s drowning in sauces. Texan BBQ come with barely there sauce, and a side of each signature BBQ sauce ONTHESIDE! Here it’s soupy and sweet. Very sweet in fact.

Meat candy!!! The best bbq out here. This place has it all. Great atmosphere, great food, and great people. They smoke their own meat. You cannot find a place anywhere the can smoke their own meat. Definitely come ready to fill the belly. Their is a lot of food. Not many sides but plenty of meat. Just know they won’t seat you until your entire party is here. Not a good place for large groups. Very homey. No kids menu so beware if you’ve got youngens with you.

Love this bbq joint in the LA/San Fernando Valley. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with a delightful bbq scent. It isn’t all glamorous inside but it all goes out the window once you taste theIr bbq. Their platters are huge, they top off their meats with this secret sauce, I’ve yet to discover what’s in it but it gives the meats another layer of complexity.

Whenever I’m craving some good BBQ I drive all the way out here! This place is definitely worth it! I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and it still tastes the same. The service is always great and the food is fantastic! I always get their pulled pork sandwich with a side of their amazing baked beans! They always give you the option of their regular BBQ sauce or the spicy one. Honestly they’re both good so I just mix them together over my sandwich. I will definitely keep coming to this restaurant as it is my favorite BBQ place in SoCal!

Loved it. The service was spot on(there was five of us). The beans were delicious. It tasted like someone actually tried to make the beans good, and not just a hurried side dish. The potato salad was good. Loved the pulled pork and hot links. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful; the hot links were the right amount of hot and tasted great. The brisket was good, too. All in all, a great little restaurant. Will be back. I should mention I’m from Texas(Waco and Dallas). The barbecue here measures up.

I have been going to Doctor Hogly Wogly’s Tyler Texas BBQ for many years. The food has always been the same for the most part and that’s perfectly fine with me. Today I had the brisket and hot links with macaroni salad and baked beans. The brisket is easily cut with a fork and the hot links are actually quite mild. The 3 or four bread & butter pickles on top are always a great place start if you don’t know what to eat first. The sides are really more like starters as they are served a few minutes before the BBQ comes out. The creamy sauce on the macaroni is not overly wet and goes down easily. The beans are the only thing I put the sauce on as they can use a small amount of pepping up. Did I mention the bread? Soft and warm with whipped butter on the side. This is still my favorite BBQ place and I’ll keep coming back.

We ordered to go. Beef ribs, brisket and spareribs. We ordered sides of baked beans, extra pickles, macaroni, coleslaw and fries. We also ordered sweet potato pie. I was very excited to have my ribs as in watching the football game. We get home and there is no dessert, no macaroni and no pickles. Extremely disappointing as we were all very excited for our meal and dessert. By the way, it’s important to mention that the restaurant was empty so to screw up our order says a lot. Very disappointing.

The best brisket I have ever had. Also their beef ribs were amazing. It was expensive(about $ 30) for a three meat plate, but lots of food. I managed to finish it, but should have saved some for leftovers. I was so stuffed.

I wonder if they use a smoker on the meats; I failed to ask. Anyways, I got the lunch brisket special, and the brisket was surprisingly good and tender. The bbq sauce had a unique, sweet flavor, but the sweetness was overwhelming to the point where the sugar molasses consumed the flavor. A good bbq sauce might have a «kick» to it, but the sweet factor is too much. The bread it came on was not of the right roll/kind. Even though it was a lunch special, I did not get a lot of the brisket. The two sides I got were: Slaw, and Potato salad. I have a gut feeling the potato salad was store bought, but the slaw was the highlight of the meal. Have experienced better BBQ, but this spot is not that bad.

Ok, I’ll be honest… We went for the name… Who wouldn’t? After running around the valley all day, we jumped on Unilocal to find a linner(late lunch/early dinner) restaurant in the area and found Dr. Hogly Wogly’s. At 4PM, it wasn’t too busy — about 4 of the booths were occupied. The dining room is a little outdated, but clean. The menu is small, offering 7 meat styles and 4 – 5 side items. No green dinner salads or vegetables — not very vegetarian/vegan friendly ;), a true BBQ establishment. We ordered the 3-meat dinner with chicken, beef brisket, and hot links with baked beans and fries to split — thank goodness, it’s huge. The chicken was pretty dry, beef brisket was the best thing on the table. Service was quick and friendly and they actually put the leftovers in a real doggie bag with the marinade, making the leftovers more flavorful the next day for lunch. Would probably be back, but only if already in the area.

Meh. I’m from Houston and have been looking for a good BBQ place in LA. And the search continues. Got the 2 combo plate with brisket and hot links. Brisket was ok. Wasn’t dry or super moist. Had a little too much sauce. Hot links were charred and didn’t have much flavor. Tasted processed. Baked beans did not taste like the baked beans I’m used to. A little too sweet for my liking. It has an applesauce consistency. Bread and fries were probably my favorite things. Who doesn’t like carbs? When you ask for a to go box, the waitress will put all your food in a plastic bag. No joke. Service is below average. Tried to split our check and explained to our waitress how to split it and she still got it wrong. Overall, this place does not live up to the hype from a Texans standpoint. Also it’s overpriced for the quality and service.

I have been coming here for about 10yrs and it never fails me. I adore the blazé waitresses and the to-go doggy bags, its part of the charm. The brisket is my favorite thing ever! That sauce its swimming in is truly amazing. I could drink it. I usually pair that with the beef ribs but this last time I got the baby back and was impressed too. My favorite sides are the baked beans and the slaw. The beans might have yams mixed in with them, its so delicious, it’s really like eating dessert. A must try!

I stopped at Doctor H.‘s to place a «To go» order. I came in with my service dog. She was wearing her service dog tag and was on a leash. Within a few minutes a waitress came up to me to tell me that I couldn’t stay with my dog there. I explained that she was a service dog and pointed out her tag. The waitress said her boss needed to see all the paperwork. I explained that they were not allowed to demand paperwork. She explained that her boss didn’t care. This restaurant is a dark little dive with a few plastic tables which is the main reason everyone gets their food to go. The food is not nearly as good as it was years ago when they were building their reputation, and now they have the nerve to insult clients. Oh, and beware of the fake grassy area by the picnic tables in front of the restaurant. My 72 year old friend tripped on an uneven spot and fell on our way in. The bar-b-q is just not that good and it’s way overpriced. They will never see me again.

Well its been about 8 months since my last visit and it was a good visit. This place has been here for over 40 years and still going. They put out some good BBQ. They still do things the old fashion way by writing down their orders and yet they seem to be able to expedite the food out in about a few minutes. So its having the right employees in position and most of all the employees working together as I. So important in today’s standards. Good job. The brisket was so tender and most of all such a great taste, along with their homemade potato salad and their hot links. My server was very attentive during my visit and she even suggested some of their home made sweet potato pie. Its very good. I would come here just to get their pie. So again I commend you all for being consist in producing some of the best BBQ in the valley. Great job. 2015 Unilocal Challenge 031⁄100
