EXCELLENTCUSTOMERSERVICE, GREATBEAUTIFULLOCATION! I used to come here when I was a youngster(20+ years ago) and the place has not changed at all. A+ rating on the staff, starting with Rachael who was absolutely great! Very kind and prompt to get back to me when i had questions prior to arrival. The crew who maintains the property where absolutely amazing. Everyone was just so friendly and kind once we were there. As usual, when camping out, you tend tk always forget something and Rachael and her husband were just a delight by offering(without me asking for them) the things i needed. The pool is wonderful, volleyball court, tennis court, basketball court(half), fishing ponds were just wonderful. If you want a nice close from LA facility this is the place! Look no further! Nice thing is that it is not extremely high in elevation and the roads pretty straight to get to the place. Everyone in our group of 30+ were blown away by the place and staff and definitely want to go back. And we sure will! Thanks Rachael for all your help. May the Lords blessings be upon you amd your baby and husband and the whole family and the place itself. Jose Lopez

WORSTPLACE I had ever been. I went with my wife and my 2 daughters. The kids stayed playing on the pool the last day. Right after 2 pm the check out time, we offer to pay for the day and the OWNER said«yes«. 10 minutes later he came back and said that we have to leave. By the time I put all my thing’s together, he came back with the POLICE and told them, that we(the wife, 2 years old and 4 years old & me were the GARBAGEHEHADTODEAL.) I WILLNEVERGOBACKTOTHIS S…

A great, peaceful place an hour or 2 outside LA. The tee pees are fun to stay in, the staff are very hospitable, the pond is always stocked with fish and the trails make for great hikes. Wished they had fire pits at each tee pee, so bring your own.

Larry, Was a true enlightening man to work with. He greeted our cadets and laid out the red carpet with hospitality. The cadets stayed for three days and were overwhelmed with joy. We will be back 1SG ® Turner

Visited for a YMCA weekend camp. Slept in tents in the tipi area. Pros: –Beautiful camp grounds, with a small creek running along the tent area(if you have kids bring extra shoes and changes of clothes because the kids will fall in the creek) –Relatively close to LA but pretty isolated –Responsive and friendly staff –Can be accessed via Highway 2 if the 55÷91÷15 is backed up with Vegas traffic –Pretty good food –Free phone for Southern California calls(which was nice because we had no cell reception) –Big pool(water can be chilly even on a warm day though) –Tons of fish, but you pay on a per-fish basis and you have to bring your own fishing gear. Great for kids but probably a little too easy for experienced fishermen. –On site store sells snacks, frozen food(like Hot Pockets), ice cream, firewood, etc. –Real bathrooms with free showers. Cons: –As stated above, no cell reception. –Have to put all your food back in the car each night to prevent critters from getting into it. –The tent/tipi area is not huge, so you are secluded from the other campers. –No alcohol allowed. –No fire rings in the tent area. There is a big campfire area but I believe you have to pay to use it. You can bring your own portable fire ring to use by your tent, though. All in all, if you are looking for some easy tent camping(or if you want to rent a tipi), this is a great choice, especially if you have little kids.

Nestled on the north side of the San Bernadino mountains is Big Rock Creek Camp. They are a half hour drive from Palmdale/Lancaster and just less than an hour from Santa Clarita. They are close, yet a world away. Big Rock is located up a canyon on a road that does not really go through. So, here you will find peace and relaxation. This used to be a getaway for famous Hollywood types in the 30’s. The guys would come up without their wives and the place would bring in women with a «relaxed moral outlook»(if you know what I mean). A lot of crazy stuff went on here I am sure. Today, this is a private christian camp. You can stay here in small groups of two or large groups(as we did). There are many camping options. You can pitch a tent, sleep under the stars, rent a cabin or sleep in one of their canvas teepees(best option for those with kids). There are ample hiking opportunities. They also have a low ropes and high ropes course complete with zipline. It is not always open so check with the staff for availability. There is also an actual creek that flows through the camp which is nice. The bathroom facilities are typical for a campground. There is also basketball, volleyball, a pool and other things they can bring out. There are BBQ’s in the campsights and you can have a campfire. The staff will stay back and let you do your own thing or can coordinate a program for larger groups. This is a christian camp, they do not allow radios or alcohol, so if you bring in some booze, keep it discreet. Also watch for black bears that do enter the camp in search of food. The best thing of all is their stocked trout pond. You can fish out of here and just about be guaranteed in catching something. If you are unlucky, you can fish out of their holding tanks where I caught a fish with a bare hook. I also did catch a nice fat 4 lb trout which was awesome.
