I must say I that I am very impressed! This is probably the closest that you are going to get to homemade Italian food. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and was it good. The only problem is that I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting, portion are large but that wasn’t a big deal it just gave me something to enjoy later.

This was a forgettable meal for me, except that I want to Unilocal about it to share my experience before I forget it. Nestled at the end of a strip mall, the décor is southern-homey, with a touch of italian and a dollup of neon bar signs. This place was actually crowded for a Monday night in January. I believe that the locals come here for their birthday because their meal is free(we listened to two«happy birthday» while we were there). Per the other reviews, Service was indeed friendly. Crystal was as nice as southern pie. However, she disappeared after we received our meal and we had to stand-up to flag her down to signal we were finished. Crystal took our order and offered up garlic rolls or normal bread. Since none of us were going to be kissing anyone for the next 48 hours, we elected for the garlic rolls. The rolls were typical, except that they sat in 1 inch of liquid«butter». I put the quotes around it because the liquid never congealed. I am afraid to ask if they reuse the«butter» between tables. I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs — pretty basic for an italian place. It was«eh, ok, I’ve had better» hence the 2 star review. My coworker’s meals(lasagna and a vegetarian pasta) were also«just ok». Walking out afterwards, we agreed we would rather find an Olive Garden up the interstate than come here again.

I’ve had just about everything here. Never disappointed. Would be a 5 if the prices were lower…

As you enter, you are swept away immediately to Milano, Italia. The atmosphere is the perfect ambiance for a most enjoyable dining experience. I personally enjoy the lasagna. It is layer after layer of marinara bliss. Soooo good it will make you slap your crazy momma in law. It is a definite must visit.

Awesome place. I do not understand the bad reviews. The salads are great, especially with the chicken. Huge portions and the garlic bread that comes with it is great as well. I live in Auburn but work in Valley and milanos is the best italian in the entire area. The lasagna is also top notch.

Milano’s is about 15 minutes from my work. I would always go in during my lunch hour to enjoy their lunch menu. They have a good variety of what you can choose from. Prices vary between $ 8 — $ 9 for lunch. Once I came with my company for a department lunch and ordered the Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti … and was hooked. I’ve tried their gyro platter but not a big fan of it, but who would order Greek at an Italian restaurant? This was my mistake. However, going back to the Chicken Parm — which in my opinion fantastic. Simple dish but a lot could go wrong, where the chicken filet is not crisp enough, the layer of cheese on top of marinara could be burnt in the oven, etc. I think Milano has gotten the technique to make this dish pretty good. The dish is served on a hot plate(or something similar). The cheese that’s layered on the chicken is perfectly baked and appears to have encapsulated the crisp chicken filet. With each bite you are able to indulge the buttery yet tart taste of the cheese and the sweet zesty tang of the marinara, and the juicy crispiness of the the chicken breast. To me a well balanced taste for each bite. Then the side of spaghetti, which is not so great — but you’re really getting the dish to eat the Chicken Parm not the spaghetti. It’s just the typical spaghetti noodles and meat sauce marinara. Although, one improvement I’d like to suggest is to make the noodles more al dante — less soft and little more chewy. But I think the two(spaghetti and chicken) goes well together. Oh and I forgot to mention — try their complimentary garlic bread. I like that they are Italian rolls with minced garlics on top, drizzled in olive oil.

I went there for lunch today and ordered the shrimp alfredo, very disappointed. It tasted very bland, but when I got home I started having symptoms of food poisoning and I wasn’t the only one my friend ate some of it once we got home and she is now showing the same symptoms as I am. Just be careful.

If you’re local, you know there’s not much choice outside of fast food in the area, so it would be fantastic if this place were good. But honestly, you’ll get the same(or better) service and probably the same quality of food at one of the fast food joints in town. And be warned: they are extremely slow, especially during lunch, so don’t make any time sensitive plans around lunch/dinner. Between myself & my husband we’ve tried many items on the menu(on various trips-not our idea) in an attempt to find something that was decent. No luck. One particular experience: we were eating there with a large group(20+) for a special occasion, and every individual who ordered a chicken dish became sick within hours. One person even called the restaurant later that evening after their entire family became sick to complain & advise them that there was obviously a problem. The restaurant’s response was nonchalant at best. Our experience with the wait staff isn’t any better. There was one waiter who was amazing(he actually works @ 2 local places), but if you’re not lucky enough to sit in his section, you can forget about actually receiving any type of acceptable service. Even the hostess is rude & slow. My advice — Just find somewhere else to eat. Opelika, Auburn & Columbus all have great restaurants to choose from, and it would be worth the drive just to stay away from this place.

Great place. Decent prices. The chicken Palermo… heaven on earth!!! I have enjoyed other dishes, but the chicken Palermo is just unique. I’ve been told they have great steaks. Nice daily drink specials as well. I am from the north and have been missing good Italian food. Milanos is much better than most Italian restaurants in the area.

Its… ok. for the area I supppse. I dont personally like it and am always a bit disappointed when my family chooses to come here(they love it). Everything is fried, dripping in butter, coated in salt or something else unhealthy. And it’s not even good. What is good… the service(usually), the desserts(there frozen. not homemade but still yummy) the prime rib, and the eggplant parmesan. There wine selection is awful, they charge 20 $ for a 5 $ bottle of crappy wine. My advice is to drive to auburn and find an Italian place there. Warehouse bistro is a good suggestion. Oh but hey if its your birthday, you get a free dinner! Bring your license and get the prime rib. And they’ll sing to you:) and everyone else in the restaurant bc its literally everyone’s birthday at milanos.

My folks love this place, and they’ve dragged me to it before. It was adequate on my first visit. However, on this visit I ordered the chicken marsala; when the dish arrived, instead of a brown, wine based sauce, it looked like the cook had tried to drown the dish in a thick cream sauce that tasted vaguely like Thousand Island dressing. It was absolutely disgusting, and I left most of the dish untouched. The employee we tried to address this with was completely indifferent. Even though I only ate a small amount, I felt nauseous for hours afterwards. I’m not sure what recipe they were using for chicken marsala, but I hope to never encounter it again. I’ll certainly never let myself get dragged here again.

If you’re looking for somewhere close by in the Valley area for good Italian, this is your place. With reasonable prices and large portions, Milano’s is better than the chain Italian places you’ll find elsewhere.

The outside of the place is inviting! It has a nice outdoor eating area, but we opted to eat inside. The décor is so so. We were seated next to the loudest family in the joint. Their kids were screaming the whole time and their volume was about ten notches too high. So, they did nothing for the ambiance of the place. We found out they offer free meals on your birthday, which was apparently the draw for that fam. I ordered the cajun chicken pasta, which came out looking very tan and boring. No color on the plate whatsoever. There was so much garlic in the food, it burned on the way down. I have never eaten so much garlic in one dish. It made it rather inedible. We ordered a slice of cheesecake, which clearly was frozen and not homemade. The service was mediocre. The menu had so many other non-pasta options that I wish I had tried instead. I don’t know that I would go back, but hopefully their gyros and seafood are better than their pasta offerings.
