I came here not knowing what to expect. I heard good things so I had to come for myself and check it out. The décor was a bit eccentric but I didn’t mind very much. I ordered the signature fondue but I honestly wasn’t too ecstatic about it. It was alright. For the main course, however, I ordered for myself a full eisbein(pork thigh). This meat, let me tell you, was quite possibly the single greatest piece of pork I have ever eaten. This was cooked as long as humanly possible with the crust of the meat forming a true shell while the inside stayed tender and silky. Served with a plate of sauerkraut and creamed spinach(both of which were amazing), this was the perfect German/Swiss meal. I was left with an empty plate and a longing in my heart. The restaurant staff were also very excellent and tried their best to communicate and meet every desire of their customers. The chef, in all of his mastery, strolled around his domain and made sure that everyone’s meal was to their liking. I finished off my meal with a fresh plum tart the chef had just made. Off the menu, just something the chef decided to make. That’s when you know when a chef is a real chef; when he just feels like making something and wants to share it with his customers. Overall, an exceptional meal. I will definitely be returning at some point. I highly recommend.

Terrific Swiss-German restaurant. Wonderful German comfort food, with high-quality ingredients and authentic German taste(as verified by my German mother-in-law), and very nice but not fussy. Chef Ueli is very friendly, seasons the great fondue at the tables, and strolls now and then singing and playing accordion. Live music by another accordionist/singer is just retro enough to be charming. Delicious and fun!

This place is totally quirky and really great! Not a hipster restaurant(which I consider a plus!). It is family owned and run. The Chef is not only an amazing cook, but a friendly, nice guy who walks the floor of the restaurant and talks to customers. He also performs! They are only open a few nights a week, play live accordion musicand sing, and have a delectable and diverse Swiss, German, + menu. A signature Swiss dish — their fondue is AWESOME — definitely add the sausage. My favorite foods there are the fondue, a veal dish with a creamy mushroom sauce, a crispy pork loin, their sausage and their spatzli(a pasta side). Other things I’ve had that were also good, and so many more that I want to try! I see another visit in the near future!

Food was decent I had the lemon sole $ 30 wife had shnitzel $ 30 and it was good not fantastic but good 7 outta 10 had 2 glasses of wine and sorbet. With tip $ 120. Here’s the kicker I like soda water. Not perrier or anything fancy just soda water and I hate being charged $ 4 a glass. For bubbles so 2 soda waters $ 8. That’s just a rip off otherwise service was nice I would go back but only when in laws are paying… otherwise there’s no way…

Great place. Food is a bit rich, but well executed. So many great menu options and sides. Ulie(chef owner) and Fritz(music on Fri and Sat nights) are both very friendly and entertaining. Prices look high, but servings are plentiful and the ingredients are high quality, so I believe to be a great value.

Ohhh, the pretzels! I’ve driven by this place many times and finally got to try it tonight. Wow, the staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming. We had a party of 12 including 2 kids for my wife’s birthday. We ordered calamari and a pretzel to start. Our server Judy treated us like family and gave us a complimentary appetizer(thin & crispy french-style pizza) and dessert(an assortment of homemade, bite-size cookies), not to mention the free birthday slice of pumpkin pie. I wouldn’t necessarily expect that every time but, nevertheless, we felt very much at home. The pretzel was HUGE as it should be. It was the perfect texture inside and out and was the right size for all 12 of us to share. It was served with a dark, whole grain mustard that was the perfect compliment. The calamari was tender, not chewy, and served with a tangy aoli. I ordered the pork schnitzel which was juicy and excellently fried. Sides my dish came with were creamed spinach, pickled red cabbage and carrots which were all good. A few of the other staff, including head chef himself, Ueli, were very friendly. We had the pleasure of being entertained by singer Fritz who also played keyboard and accordion. Chef Ueli even took a break to sing and play accordion a few times. Little did we know this is the place to celebrate birthdays. There were probably 6 – 7 other people celebrating as well. The décor is very kitschy, adorned with flags of several countries, streamers hung throughout the space, a charming toy village display and holiday decorations. We stayed well past closing time to chat with the staff. Hugs were exchanged and we left feeling like we’d just had a family get-together. If you’re in the area on a day they’re open, I highly encourage you to drop by for a bite!

Loved the food here! It was so fun to be able to get my husband to try escargot and some other German/Swiss/French dishes. We loved it and are so happy to have this jewel in the valley!

Came to Swiss Chef for the first time today. I have never eaten Swiss food, so I don’t have a point of reference, but it was decent. Kind of reminded me of food in Germany. I had the chicken schnitzel with tomato and cheese and my mom had the Zurich veal. The waitstaff were super friendly, and the chef himself even came out to greet us. Just a few notes. This place is pretty pricey and they are closed several days a week.

Amazing food; Amazing staff!!! We were checked on by staff every minute, and it was a delight having the chef himself go to our table and check if we enjoyed our meal. That made it feel very home-like and actually showed they had an interest in customer satisfaction. Will totally recommend!!!

This place is about food. If you like food and like quality then this is the place for you! I’ll be honest, it’s not a ‘hip’ place. I can see it being really fun with a group of people that know how to eat quality food without the need to be following a fad. If that’s your crew then, maybe food is not your priority and this might not be the place for you. The crowd is a little older. It’s a mix of families and couples. The owner/chef is usually there and will break out into song with his musical entertainment. I went there on a night out with the hubby. I had been planning a stop in for quite a while and had been sucked into the trend watch for too long. It was exceptional! That’s it! EXCEPTIONAL.

This place is adorable! The chef of this place is a jack of all traits… He is the owner, chef, receptionist, entertainment and I’ve even seen him serve. I don’t know how he does it but he is super human. The food is incredible too. First off, get the fondue. And get it with sausage. It’s not like Americanized fondue. It’s very Swiss authentic. The White wine and sticky cheese type. It’s different but good. Just trust me. I’m picky as F with cheese and I liked it. I got the chicken schnitzel with French fries. It’s similar to an Italian chicken Parmesan. My fiancé got the veal schnitzel and he was extremely happy. He’s not much of a veal eater due to the ethics behind it but they talked it up so much he decided to give it a shot. My dad got the Osso Buco and it was exquisite and authentic. The service is amazing! We were constantly being checked on. Whether it was by the waitress, busboys or even the chef! What I noticed about this place was the employees really give a shit. They want you to be happy and they want the restaurant to succeed. It’s like it’s their own place. This is what all restaurants need to succeed. Take note restaurant owners. Swiss chef knows how to take a family restaurant to the next level. Give it a shot, you must!

Came here today for lunch with my son and really enjoyed it. Not only is the food great, but the service is fantastic. I was raised on German food and this was so much like home. Also, brought back memories of my trip to Germany. The red cabbage is some of the best I’ve had. Even if German food isn’t your thing, the menu has a lot of variety to keep everyone happy. I will definitely come again.

We went for a romantic Valentine’s dinner but ended up just trying to get through the evening. Our experience(with solutions where applicable): 1. We had our reservation for 8:30, but were seated around 8:45. Other couples with reservations left before us. We would’ve been fine with the wait had the hostess been more pleasant in accommodating guests and/or explaining the situation. 2. One gnat ON the cherry stem in my cocktail, and one gnat IN the cherry where the pit hole is. The bar tender gave me another drink and tripple poured from a fresh bottle substituting a lemon twist for the cherry. We still ended up being billed for the drink. I’m not sure if she threw out the cherries. I must be digesting gnat larvae. 3. They had a wild and crazy party bus stop in who were bar hopping. They let one of the partiers sing La Bamba off key and turned the speakers ALLTHEWAYUP(are we in a Swiss restaurant?). One of the hosts or managers noticed we were distraught and apologetically moved us to another table. 4. The lighting was too bright for a romantic dinner… the ambience — terrible. 5. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and the«drawn butter» was amazing, but the lobster was a little tough. The salad and dressing looked and tasted like they were from Costco. The carrots were just plain boiled. After the gnat experience, I would never order their steak tartar or escargot. 6. We had a good server. It was a mixed bag but we would never return. There are other places we could spend the same amount of money for better quality food and service.

This place is simply excellent. My brothers, dad and I took my mom to this restaurant for her bday. We had heard about it through a friend and was recommended to us. As soon as we walked in we thought we had been teleported to a restaurant in a country in Europe. The staff are especially nice and welcoming. There’s live music. The atmosphere is warm. Each one of us ordered a different plate and they were all great. The chef came out of the kitchen every once in a while to converse with the guests and see how we were doing; how the food was and if we had any concerns or criticisms. That was the cherry on top of the cake.

A nice low key place to try German and Swiss food in the Valley. We ordered the wienersnitzel, plate of various sausages and remoulade. My favorite was the sausages. I’ve had wienersnitzel in Germany and it wasn’t the same as I’ve had there. Maybe because it was served hot there and at Swiss Chef it was served warm when it reached our table. I’m guessing it was sitting in the kitchen for a bit. The chef is Swiss and spent some time cooking in Germany. I love that he works the room and meets with all the diners. Everyone is friendly from the host, server, and the chef. Beer selection is limited to a few German beers on tap and some your usual suspects(Heineken, etc.) in the bottle. Most of the clientele here looked 60+ and seemed to all know the chef.

Show up ready to have fun and prepare for some randomness. Are we in Valley Glen? Are we in the Alps? Hey, it’s the European uncle we never had, playing on stage! Who’s watching my schnitzel in the kitchen? Oh well, hope it comes out ok! The food was totally good but I don’t remember what we ordered. It actually was so fun we took pictures with chef bon vivant(who is planning to retire to Switzerland, we hear). Woah was he a little handsy? We checked the photo on our way home… yep. Much like the European uncles we never had.
