I am at a lose for words at how wonderful the people at the Food Basket were. I live in Houston, TX but working in Atlanta, GA — I wanted to get some boxed lunches to a very dear friend who had a family member having surgery. There is nothing worse than waiting, being hungry but afraid to leave. They worked with me on the order and were so helpful in getting it all pulled together and then… they told me that they do not take plastic. I was just about to panic when they so graciously said that I could send a check. I am like, WHAT??? Who does that??? Well, they do and they did! I have never tasted the food, but from the reviews, I can only imagine that it is great. I am writing this review on their integrity, their generosity and their complete compassion for ensuring that I accomplished what I was trying to do… something nice for someone else — which is what they did for me! Thank you, it was a please to work with you and hope to try the food someday!

3 days a week I’m hooked. I love this place maple turkey with havarti cheese on either Dutch or sourdough, smacking! Lived here for over 16 years and never knew this little market has the best deli in town!

Soooooo yummy. With every bite you get a good portion of everything. They definitely know how to make a good sandwich. My new deli place for sure.

I like this place. The history is CAJUN!!! heee. They have some OLD school products in here too, very retro. So I went in there to try one of the sandwiches and I told the sandwich maker I was a first timer. The women behind the counter told us that this would be the best sandwich we ever had… which is good news but only if it is true. Needless to say we were very happy with this announcement. Cut to the chase, the sandwiches were good yes they were. BUT Dottie, they were not the best I’ve ever had. If they had made them EXTRA good in light of the fact that they knew this was our first time trying them that would have been smart but they didn’t do that. They made them in a routine way and made an assumption about what fixins to put on the sandwiches which my partner did not like at all. I am going back to try again because I like the place, it has a good vibe and I want to try again because they are very nice folks. So stay tuned for my second review…

Gonna keep this review short and sweet… if you want a more in-depth review, please check out my previous review! So the Mrs and myself were having yet another hankering for sandwiches, so naturally Food Basket came up. We’d last come here 2 months ago but never had the chance to come back until now. I was about to leave and order over there, but my wife remembered that the girls who work there mentioned that we could use Unilocal’s ordering service to pre-order, so that’s what we used. It’s really easy to order, probably even easier than Eat24’s service. There was quite a variety of choices and customizations there, and after placing our order we had a choice of when we could pick it up. Of course, we chose ASAP. When I got there with the two younger ones, we were immediately greeted by the staff. Wow they are so nice! I don’t think I’ve ever felt that much love and warm greetings from any other grocery store… ever! Making our way to the back where the deli was, we were once again greeted by the deli staff. The guy was talking about the Warriors game that was going on, and the girl there immediately knew why I was there. «Picking up an order, right?» That was impressive, she knew that we were there for our order. Very nice! After paying for our sandwiches and chips, we left with a very warm feeling and anticipation of how good the sandwiches were going to taste. (By the way, my wife got the Roast Beef and I got the Jerk Turkey, which is spicy!)

Deli is pretty good. That jerk turkey is great, –1 star for the bread though, kinda stale and spongy, other than that, pretty good! PS: Awesome pork rind selection!

BEST Deli sandwiches in the area. Their customer service makes it even better. They’re always so nice and kind. Also, ordering online here on Unilocal when you have a big order helps a lot too.

The sandwiches were good, but i shoulda went tp Picknickys. We looked on Unilocal reviews and decided to come here. I was let down. Theres no Paninis like reviews said. No marbled rye that is advertised in pictures in deli, no avacado for sandwiches also bragged about in reviews, also there isnt salads at all. was good enough but not the kind of deli I have to return to.

Awesome deli, amazing people, great products inside, and very convenient. I would rather come here than any other grocery store in Vallejo.

Not the place you’d expect to find a tasty sandwich, but don’t judge a book by its cover. Was in the area for work and saw the reviews on Unilocal, and they were dead on. Ordered a roast beef-turkey sandwich on sourdough, with all the fixins’ I like. This thing was HUGE — I could barely get it into my mouth to take a bite. All the ingredients were fresh, and the roll tasted like sourdough. This is a definite stop for lunch when I’m in the area again, and close enough to Highway 29 for folks traveling to wine country and looking to pick up some sandwiches for the trip. Quality Boar’s Head meats make a difference, and good customer service goes along way.

Good sandwiches, and hog head cheese! Just don’t like the fact there’s a minimum charge for debit cards. We are in 2016 now but Aite!

I’m an idiot. I’ve lived in the V since 1992 and never visited food basket. Like I’ve been known to drive to St. Helena to get a sandwich, when boars head meat was right here in my backyard. I’m your new loyal customer. Holler.

I came in hungry and decided to try the deli sandwiches. I ordered a pastrami sandwich, my sandwich was swiftly and to my satisfaction. Thanks Mila!!! Food Basket also sells really nice meat cuts to an extent that is lacking in most of the supermarkets around the area. It’s run by a local family that’s been around for years and they are all good people. Support your local businesses because gems like these are far and few between!!!

I wasn’t too sure about this place at first; they have a deli at the food basket?! After seeing for myself and going, I was back less than a week later. The sandwiches are delicious to say the least. The service is top notch. The Food Basket itself is ran by a family. Each time I’ve gone, one of the sisters have helped me out. They are all so kind and not to mention gorgeous. They have a good selection of meats, cheeses and bread. Their meat is from Boars Head which is known for their quality. My go to is the N.Y. pastrami and their roast beef paired with their smoked Gouda or 3 pepper Colby cheese. I will definitely be frequenting this spot more often on my lunch breaks. Hands down the best sandwiches in the bay area!

OMG!!! Talk about organism in your mouth!!! This place is amazing!!! Best find in a long time. hidden gem of Vallejo for sure! Please try all their sandwiches! I been going there every day for a week straight and haven’t tried one that wasn’t amazing! And talk about customer service! This family owned place has the most amazing women working there, super friendly, and(gorgeous) not being a creeper, just being honest! lol They also have a butcher shop! And the Butcher Specialist AL! Guy knows his stuff! Good people, great food all the way around! Wish Unilocal had more stars to give because they would deserve them! They been in business since the 60′ don’t let the dated façade deceive you. The food, and people inside is what makes this place amazing!

The deli is one of the gems of Vallejo. I have lived around the corner for most of my life and I honestly never been here. This is definitely the diviest sandwich spot I’ve ever been to. Don’t expect anywhere to sit. The sandwiches are high quality! Food basket is a grocery store near Kaiser in Vallejo. They have a deli that serves delicious sandwiches. They serve Boar’s Meat(brand) which apparently is high quality of meat. The quality of the sandwiches speaks for itself. Sooooo good and the workers are friendly and patient. You would have never have guessed that there is a deli at this place. I highly recommend coming here. If you want chips, drinks, or even go grocery shopping, a great sandwich, this is the spot!

My 1st time here this is a late post, i order a Sandwich was on sourdough bread I got French roll. that was a no no for me the prices for a six inch deli sandwiche was a bit high I did not feel the price was worth my simple sandwich… I might give this place a second chance but not too sure. Because my roll was wrong I gave this a 2 star The reason I did not go back was because I was on my lunch break

Boars head meat, Yay! The sandwich was on point I could not complain, by far a great alternative to the chain sandwich shops. You can expect to pay $ 8.00 for a fully loaded sandwich. Pros: — Boars head meat –Delicious –Fully loaded sandwich Cons: –Not located in the best of Vallejo –I keep forgetting that I can get a great sandwich this side of the bridge cinco 2 quince

5-stars does not justify this place. It’s head-shakingly, restore your faith in the small American business, «OMG I never want to eat sandwiches from anywhere else again» Ah-Maaay-ZING! Yup. That’s good. I’m not one to easily give up the 5-star rating either… but the only reason I’m giving 5 stars is I can’t give 10. What I LOVE about Food Basket: 1) Excellent customer service and pride in their products. I’ve been there only twice and both experiences were not only great, they were DAY-CHANGING, CLOUD-SHOOING, MOOD-LIFTING good. It’s one thing to come into a place be served with courtesy and efficiency. Coming into the food basket though, the owners’ love and passion for the store, their products, their customers and their community is inescapably palatable. You are greeted. You are engaged. You are cared for. You are steered towards right purchases and exciting quality products(Hooray for Thomas Kemper Black Cherry soda!). 2) Ownership mentality. What I especially love is that each time I’ve been here, I was helped by owners. And they act like owners. They have pride in their store and they care for customers with a warm, guiding authority. As young as they are, I didn’t expect such attention and professionalism and passion. Food Basket is not a paycheck for them; it’s a passion. And passion and customer care, they have by the truckloads! In this busy, big box world, it’s easy to forget how hugely special one can feel when they are dealt with as respected customers — not as burdens and not as commissions. And it becomes glaringly obvious how everyone needs a place like Food Basket. 3) The quality and variety of products. Granted, I’ve not bought anything other sandwiches yet. But their shelves intrigue me. There are a huge variety of products that don’t look like same things, different labels like they do in big box stores. A lot of it looks like nostalgic products from eras gone by when quality satisfaction was still the driving force for many manufacturers. Or a smattering of distinctive gourmet hot sauces that will probably give me a nice taste of the regions they come from. In any case, I’m glad that Food Basket offers products that communicate a high regard for their customers and neighbors. 4) The nostalgic ambiance. With its historical photos, retro ads and all types of art Americana, it exudes a warm, neighborly vibe… it’s not cluttered and antiquated. But thankfully, it’s a far from the overly sterile décor of more modernized places. Also, there’s a photo of young Michael Corlione looking over the beautifully-stocked meat section. Come on! That exudes class, respectability and old world charm. Food Basket is the epitome of the neighborhood market. Old timer’s get nostalgic about a time when neighbors knew neighbors, when people could get excited about grocery shopping, and when people could rely on the recommendation of the shop keeper. Food Basket is exactly that they were longing for. A safe haven from a world going too fast and losing all its humanity.
