MEATLOAF? 4.5÷5 Just simply fantastic. A HUGE, almost intimidating, serving. Filled with onions. It had a little bit of a barbecued taste to the tomato sauce, which I found interesting. There is a lot to love. I can’t imagine anyone not liking this. SWEETPOTATOCASSEROLE? 6⁄5 The best that I’ve ever eaten… that’s all. The sweet potatoes tasted homemade, but even if they weren’t, they were liberally filled with walnuts and brown sugar, and possibly cinnamon. This dish was so good that I just shook my head in amazement and appreciation.(I have since order this again, and it was as good as the first time.) TURNIPGREENS? 2.5÷5 Canned, most likely. No ham hocks, ham meat, or pot likker in the greens. Boo! They did supply the greens with a large container of apple cider vinegar, and after adding some of that, some hot sauce, salt /pepper, it wasn’t half bad. ROLLS? 3⁄5. Very basic, but fresh though. SWEETTEA? 4.5÷5 Middle of the road sweetness, which in NC is probably a good thing. Many restaurants in NC make their tea cloyingly sweet, but Cooksville Grill’s rendition was just perfect. SANITATIONRATING? 98.5% as of this review. The restaurant was very clean.(The linoleum floor needs to be replaced, but big whoop, I didn’t come here for the flooring.) PRICE? $ 7.25 to $ 8.50, or thereabouts. SERVICE? Perfection. Timely refills. Knowledgeable of the menu. Helpful. Friendly waitstaff. RECOMMENDATIONS: — Meatloaf any time that it’s on the menu. — Sweet potato casserole. — Salt and pepper catfish. — Pasta is the special every Wednesday. — POTROAST every Thursday!!! I’m going back Thursday. I LOVE pot roast. (I did go back, and the pot roast WAS delicious.) — Friday: TBA — Flounder is offered regularly. CREDIT and DEBITCARDS *NOT* ACCEPTED This restaurant is a jewel out in the middle of the country.

I’ve been eating here most of my life. It’s changed ownership a couple times over the years. At one time, I actually worked here waiting tables. The food is always good. Has an extensive menu to choose from with different dietary needs as well. Their cheese burgers are great. Love their onion rings here too. Along with hush puppies as an appetizer!

We went to this place after a hike. Recommended by the organizer, took us a little bit to find. Then I saw 1 Unilocal review. I am so used to judging a restaurant by Unilocal reviews. Don’t be deceived by Unilocal review numbers. This place is a hidden GEM. Food was fantastic, very friendly service, something you expect in family owned business. I got a combo of vegetables and meat loaf. Amazing meatloaf they can compete with some very expensive ones in Charlotte then there was carrot Casserole it blew my mind away. I am definitely coming back with my foodie friends. This is one of those places that surprises you with their art and love of food.

Food tasted very good, I got the flounder with salt and pepper but I liked the catfish better. I was definitely not disappointed. It was just what we were looking for. The portions were very large aswell.
