Vail Internal Medicine- Dr. Azam

First off, the office staff are amazing. And that’s a make-​it-​or-​break-​it for many folks who see an Internal Medicine doctor. When you get to know them by name (Vanessa is my miracle worker), you know you’ve found the right place!
I brought my disabled veteran husband over from the VA after too many annoyances and lack of care from the clinics and Tucson VA. So my confidence is high.
Secondly, we all miss David and the office doesn’t quite have it feet back under them since he left (we miss you). I have a new NP and while I enjoy her immensely, I don’t feel she’s quite up to the task of taking care of my complex health issues in the manner David was. We’ll give her a bit more time and see how it goes.
Thirdly, PLEASE get a pediatrics nurse in, if for nothing else than for older teens who are really out of place at a pediatric office but have complex health needs that local pediatrics clinics cannot handle. We’d love to have our 17 year old seen there. We’ve been told for years the office is contemplating/​working on it. At this point, he’s more likely to age in than the office is to get one.

LOVE THIS PLACE. I have been trying to find a new PCP since I pretty much got kicked out of my pediatrician’s office at 25. I have seen a few but just haven’t felt 100% thats who I wanted in charge of my care for the rest of my life. I had just gone to an annual appointment and was advised to follow up with a PCP regarding my results… this sent me into a panic, as I had been going to Carondolet in RIta Ranch. I called, after being on hold for 20 min trying to actually speak to a real person (something I have experienced every single time I called) and was told I could not be seen in almost one month. I turned to Facebook for suggestions, called around to a few new places and experienced numerous rude people who had answered the phone and told me they weren’t accepting new patients. Of course, all of this happens on Friday so I entered the weekend in a panic. I got many recommendations for Dr Azam and NP David at Vail Internal Medicine. First thing Monday morning, I called, found out there were in fact accepting new patients but could not get me in until July 6. The woman who answered the phone was incredibly nice, caring and compassionate. She took the time and asked why I needed to see a doctor and tried everything she could to look through the schedule to squeeze me in. I still made the appt but asked if she could call if there were any cancellations, she agreed. Less than one hour later, she called and said she could get me in the next day at 11am!!! I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW RELIEVED I WAS!!! I brought the staff cookies the next day, bc they have no idea how worried and stressed i had been over this. I saw NP David, who was AWESOME! He sat down, was very genuine and explained exactly what I needed to fix my issue and took care of it like that! David took the time to get to know us and explain the situation in a way we would understand. I felt like I left there with new friends. David did not beat around the bush and was honest. I felt 100% comfortable there! Even my hubby, who HATES going to the doctor said he was going to call and schedule an appt for his yearly physical. I highly recommend this place. They went out of their way for someone who wasn’t even a patient and I couldn’t appreciate that more. THANK YOU VAIL INTERNAL MEDICINE!!!

Dr. Azam is a kind, compassionate doctor who inspires trust. He is extremely knowledgeable and is highly ethical. He views his patients holistically, as whole beings, instead of focusing on one problem only and he does not assume that every patient that requests pain medication is a drug abuser.
He was my doctor from 2009 to 2011. After I qualified for Medicare and signed up for CareMore, I was no longer able to see him. I miss him very much. I dread going to see the doctor I have now.
I highly recommend Dr. Azam to everyone.

Dr. Azam is wonderful! I had been seeing another doctor, and constantly had trouble getting appointments. Dr. Azam’s office is always able to see you in a timely manner. Additionally, he is the only doctor that ordered the correct tests to find out what was actually going on with my health… I wish I had known about him over a year ago when all my symptoms started! He also has a great sense of humor, and makes his patients feel at ease. I highly recommend Dr. Azam.
