A vegan /vegetarian family driving through on our way to Utah; pulled up my Unilocal app and saw this listing and thought«let’s try it!» We went to the Avon location and were able to eat all kinds of goodies. I misunderstood Green Elephant’s website, thinking it was a café /deli; it’s really more of a walk-in smoothie place with fridges to pull out the pre-packaged meals(many were already sold out) with a few indoor tables at which you can sit to eat(or drink). Luckily what we wanted were still there, like the breakfast burrito(my eleven year-old, a breakfast burrito aficionado, devoured it), the peanut noodles(hands-down our family’s favorite), lentils(wonderful dressing), and the quinoa salad(needed more dressing, but the veg in it were yummy). Oh! And a couple of impulse grabs, like the PB+J smoothie which was shockingly delicious, and the peanut butter bites(is that the name? I’ve forgotten but they were freaking fantastic). So everything was really tasty, really fresh; it’s right off the freeway so super-convenient, and it was wheelchair friendly(our youngest son is in a w/c, and we were able to use their commodious bathroom to diaper him, which we always appreciate!). It’s a bit expensive, but we all felt good about what we’d eaten, and on future pass-throughs we’ll munch there again.

Great place in Vail. I was there for a conference and needed a quick, healthy place for breakfast. The juices, smoothies, and cold brewed coffee were amazing!

Wow, so, being vegan in the Vail area isn’t easy– and definitely isn’t cheap. I was getting tired of pasta with red sauce and grilled vegetables at all the restaurants, so I looked online and saw the Green Elephant Juicery. Life changing decision right there. I’m in Vail and Avon all the time for work and now I have access to delicious vegan food. I got the almond burger wrap, lentil salad, quinoa salad and a blueberry cheesecake(which, by the way, is the best vegan cheesecake I’ve ever had) and the total was around $ 32. It was enough food for two meals. I see some other posts complaining about price but this is the same or less than what you’ll pay in the prepared food section at Whole Foods. And to see this kind of food out here in the mountains is awesome. And I haven’t even tried the juices!

If you’re tired of running through a menu like an obstacle course and would like to rest in the knowledge that anything you choose is vegan, organic and healthy — eat here. Their smoothies are huge and amazing and they also have a selection of vegan desserts and salads.
