Finding ourselves in Vacaville around noon with unexpected time on our hands, we went looking for a new place for lunch. Pizza Pucks came into view so we gave them a try. I have to give kind of a mixed review because some things were good, but other aspects of the experience, not so much. They have a drive through, we didn’t try that but I like the concept. The place was nearly empty while we were there. The young man behind the counter was pleasant and explained what a pizza puck was. We decided to get a couple to try while waiting the 45 minutes we were told it would take for our take-out Chicago style pizza to be ready. The explanation compared the«pucks» to cinnamon rolls, and just like some cinnamon rolls, they were not fully cooked and doughy in the center. Other than that they were a tasty snack. Next problem was no ice from the machine, I had to ask for that, and then the soft drink came out mostly syrup and very little fizz, yuck! Not drinkable, so we got a refund and drank water only. The pizza was quite a lot of money for something not terribly large, and the artichokes could have used some better prep to remove the hard parts, but the tomato sauce was delicious, and so I was ultimately happy with our choice, but it wouldn’t be my favorite.

I haven’t tried a puck yet as their tritip sandwich and calzones are so amazing, I can’t bear not to get them when we go in!

The first time here, I had the pleasure of meeting the husband & wife team, owners/operators, Eric & Kari. We had a great conversation. Of course, I had to to bring up the ever, elusive, open face pizza sandwich. If you’ve never had a pizza sandwich, you do not know what you’re missing!.. ‘Especially if its done right! Kari told me that shouldn’t be a problem, «After all, we have everything to make one!» Ahhh, most excellent!(Rubs hands anxiously together) One day I came in to make good on that offer, neither Eric or Kari were there. I explained to the crew about our conversation in regard to the sandwich.(Insert buzzer) Wrong answer, thank you for playing, it was an utter & complete failure. I thought, «What’s the big deal, it’s just a sandwich? You have everything to put one together, I’m not asking for beef wellington?» I got the feeling that no one really wanted to help or was willing to take any initiative to even TRY…(Shrugs) No one wanted to lead, let alone make a simple effort which I found to be a let down. A chef is an artist, their canvas is the plate and the paints, the ingredients. Zero creative vision, whatsoever. One of the responses I received was, «We don’t know how to ring it up?» WTH?! It’s a sandwich… ‘Are you kidding me? I could continue about how asinine an answer that was BUT I won’t. Yes, I’m still a bit perturbed by the lack of forward thinking & direction that was obviously lacking. When I have a team working under me, I’d like to think that they can make big people decisions w/o me. Lemmings. My apologies, I digress. Well, after said sh*tty experience, I posted a check-in tip @ Pizza Pucks, expressing my disappointment. After originally meeting the owners, I figured if any pizza place could easily pull this off, it was Pizza Pucks. I thought, oh well, its back on safari I go. The pizza sandwich hunt continues. Shortly after, I received a Unilocal*pm from David A, former AM of Pizza Pucks. He opened up dialogue w/me & said that it was a definite can do… ‘Really? No one’s going to boycott the idea, a special pizza sandwich committee doesn’t need to be formed, no bill presented before Congress required? I was skeptical after the staunch resistance I experienced. David said that it would be charged as a meatball sandwich. Fine, sure, that’s great… I just didn’t understand why it was so problematic to begin with? Then, finally… ‘Today! Feb 10, 2016 @ 3pm Zack: Hi, what can I get for you? Me: Is David, the assistant manager here? Zack: Sorry, he no longer works here… I paused a moment and quietly thought, «WTH… ‘Great! Here I am again, looking forward to the elusive, pizza sandwich and a huge swing of the bat and a miss, «STRIKE!» Yes, and«elusive» being the keyword. — «Well, sh*t.» I’m here, doesn’t hurt to ask. Again. I felt the odds were against me. After all, it was David who was privately conversing with & my guess is, these two guys don’t know anything about the conversation… ‘And I’d be back to square one and pizza sandwichless, again.(Sigh) Maybe it just wasn’t mean to be… I’ve never been so happy to be so wrong.(Plus, it didn’t hurt to pull up David’s messages to me on the iPhone to show Zack.) Even after being given the previous runaround, I have to say, «Pizza Pucks delivered!»(‘And this was only their first attempt!) «DJ’s Pizza Sandwich» — Linguica, sausage & jalapeños with extra sauce($ 6.98) Photo — «Redemption!»(Cue grand orchestral music) A highly recommended must-try! Choose your own favorite toppings! It’s actually not MY pizza sandwich, I just call it that because of how much work it took to get it actually made.(Note: You may not want the extra sauce… ‘A bit too saucy.) Dante remembered me from my last visit when I made a futile attempt to have the sandwich made. However, this time it was much less painful, with no resistance whatsoever. All I provided was a bit of direction & the rest was«Easy puh’cheesy!» As I mentioned before, I’ve been to a number of local pizza spots soliciting the idea of the pizza sandwich with very little takers. It’s like the pimple faced freshmen asking girls to dance with no success… The kid has great dance moves but no partner to work with. To date, I’ve tried three places, including Pizza Pucks, and all in Vacaville. 1. Napoli Pizzeria — On menu; closed pizza sandwich = one hot mess; «M’eh» 2. Cenario’s Pizza — By request; okay; not great BUT it was a first run try; A++ for effort 3. Pizza Pucks — By request; very good; closest to hitting the mark; B– for willingness & effort upon initial attempt But so far, «THEBEST Pizza Sandwich,» I’ve found in California can be found here — — Big Aloha! When driving through Vacaville and deciding to eat dinner instead of sitting in traffic this slightly off the beaten path spot will amuse you and you can fill up for less then $ 30 bucks. 4 regular pucks 14 mini pucks Caesar salad Personal pizza IPA Pretty good deal all around. Here’s the heads up: Garlic haters, your gonna have a bad time. I’d argue the garlic really diminishes the ability to pull out the flavors of the toppings. Even now what were all still holding on to flavor wise is the taste of garlic. Mind you we love garlic but when its the only flavor that carries through your puck you have to say to yourself hmmmmmm. Cuteness factor: concept wise this is a total win. The mini’s are adorable dipping bites. I think when you roll the ingredients into a pizza bun they get muted but still worth ordering. Now coming from Sonoma County we are Mombo’s spoiled. On the scale of alright to one of a kind remarkable, this place ranks in the«it’s good» arena. I’d love for them to hire a concept chef to figure out a way to get the pucks to really«pop» but for a trying a new spin on pizza I have to give them props.

After seeing a coupon for Pizza Pucks from my child’s coupon book funds raiser, we decided to give this place a try. My 9 year old saw the photo of a pizza rolled into a puck on the coupon/ad and begged me to take him and his brother here. Myself, being a skeptical mom, looked up their menu online and read Unilocal reviews and finally decided to give it a try. How bad can it be? The name«puck» just gave me the impression that it’s inedible, dry, and tasteless. Okay I get it, it only describes the shape. Anyway, we got three $ 5 lunch boxes and 3 drinks for a total of ~$ 23; with our coupon it only costed us ~$ 18. Service was really nice coming from young adults. Surprisingly, the pepperoni pucks we had were very tasty, soft, and was just right! My kids were instantly hooked! The concept of consuming a pizza in a non-traditional form was a hit with my kids. I’ll bring them back here for more pucks if they ask. Really cool place to hang out too, maybe have some beer with friends. I’m a deep dish pizza lover, maybe I should try their more traditional pizzas next time.

Not even one star. This company violates California laws in multiple ways… the food is not edible… greasy and nasty are an understatement… the place is horribly understaffed and the poor workers just look untrained and spread very thin. I even noticed the poor spelling on multiple signs in the restaurant… pathetic… time to have the third try of pizza pucks shut down. TREATEMPLOYEESWITHRESPECTANDMAYBEYOURBUSINESSWONTFAIL!!! And quality food would be great for what the cost is.

We used to love pizza picks so when we came home to visit and found out they opened one up in Vacaville again we were excited. We arrived at 1158. We waited in the car until 1200 knowing that they don’t open until 1200. The doors were still locked and the guy behind the counter just stared at us. We waited 5 minutes before deciding to go somewhere else. If you aren’t going to open on time then you obviously don’t want my service.

OMG! Pizza Pucks is back. I was so depress every time I visit Vacaville ever since the last location closed. This is the place to go when you are in Vacaville. I accidentally found it by browsing Groupon local deals and you have no idea how excited when I saw PIZZAPUCKS. BTW, awesome service provided by Josie. To the PP owner: Do more promotions and let people know you guys are here! My first Puck is because you guys was in the outlets.

Came through a bit skeptically with a Groupon to try this place out. Hesitantly, I ordered a couple of 4 packs– combination and chicken garlic. Figured they’d be all crust with no softness from how they appeared. Not the case. The outside was not rock solid like I thought it’d be and the insides were actually soft.(Both good things.) And they roll the outside in some sort of seasoning. One of the many flat screen televisions shows how they make them. So really I guess they were decent, and they’d probably be pretty good had I not had the preconceived notion of what a pizza should look ANDTASTE like. I missed the molten cheese and toppings on top and I felt a little off eating what looked like a cinnamon roll. Free medium soda with Unilocal check-in: discovered this just after ordering and paying for everything. Not to be mean, but I just wouldn’t come back. Didn’t like the non-pizza…was hoping for something that tasted like pizza… and it wasn’t this.

How do I start? Do you like pizza? Do you like good pizza? Do you like great pizza? Okay, then Pizza Pucks deserves your attention. I was a HUGE fan when they were in the Vacaville Outlets, many years ago. They closed, I was crushed. Then I found them at Marine World a/k/a Six Flags. Then they closed. I just recently found they reopened in Vacaville. That said, their signature product the Pizza Puck looks like a hockey puck, but this is a puck you want to have hit your face, unlike a hockey puck. You pick the toppings and they make it. They have decent lunch specials. I think the only improvement would be a 3 puck pack. They have a 2 and 4. I cannot get over how great the unique flavor is. This is quality pizza folks. They have standard pizzas also. I have not tried their deep-dish since I find Zachary’s Pizza has that covered. Pizza Pucks is my favorite pizza spot.

I have seen this pizza joint in downtown vacaville for a while now but never went inside. One day I had a coupon and decided to give it a try on a Friday night with my wife. We arrived and the staff was pleasant and willing to offer their suggetions on the best foods. We ended up with a salad, 4 pizza pucks(garlic & bacon), garlic bread balls and two different types of smoothies. Every was amazing, I loved the pizza pucks and the coconut smoothie was creamy and delicious. The garlic balls were ok — the bread was fantastic but the garlic seasoning was on the strong side. I would order the cheese bread balls or cheesy bread instead next visit. Overall, its very affordable. The quality is much better than a typical pizza joint and the puck style minis is a great twist on the traditional pizza. They do sell traditional style pizzas as well. I highly recommend this place the next time you are in downtown Vacaville. Right across from Andrews park aka creek walk downtown area where they have all the parties and activities during the summer. FYI: The place has a drive through

Good food and reasonable prices. Nice people too. Starting tomorrow they’ll have $ 5 specials(on the food, not the people) that I’ll be back to try. The Chicago stuffed pizza looks awesome, but I’ll have to bring some friends. Check for a Unilocal check in coupon to get a free soft drink. Another plus is free Wi-Fi. RECOMMENDED

What an invention. Apparently my well-informed partner has known about these little magic things for far longer than I have, so when we saw a Pizza Pucks food truck outside Right Eye Brewing in Vacaville… it ignited a need. The pucks we ordered were hot and fresh and delicious; jalapeño BBQ and garlic chicken. Nom. Minus one star, because the carpeting in their lobby reeked of a dankness that was most unpleasant. I couldn’t escape the smell of it, even after moving tables. I’d say invest in tile or a very, very deep shampooing. Very deep.

I hate this place. And by hate I REALLY mean that I love pizza pucks so much that I might as well walk in there and ask Maddy(the really nice cashier) to take all of my money for the rest of my life. So. What is a pizza puck? Its a pizza on steroids. Garlicky, buttery dough rolled like a cinnamon roll with pizza sauce and toppings and a buttload of cheese in the middle. I was skeptical at first thinking, no. This can’t be that good. One bite and I realized that two pucks for me just wouldn’t be enough. I’ve only tried the ‘normal’ pizza flavors. They also have a BLT one and some other wacky flavor that I wasn’t brave enough to try. They have a drive thru! You can only order pepperoni or cheese in the drive thru to cut waiting times. Anything else, just go inside and save the hassle. They’ll ask you to pull into a parking spot anyways while they make your food so the person behind you who knew NOT to order that way can get their food. They also have all you can eat on Wednesdays. I haven’t put on my big girl pants(preferably with an elastic waist band) and gone yet. But I plan to.

I am a sucker for pizza in all different varieties so when I came across this particular place I knew I had to try it. The whole pizza puck concept kind of excited me, is this some new innovative way to eat pizza and it just hasn’t caught on yet? Well at least that’s what I’m thinking lol. This place is cute, quite small, the décor inside is somewhat like your average pizza place. They have all black tables and chairs, some are those higher bar like tables and chairs while the rest are your average ones. As soon as I walked up to the counter I was greeted by a nice young lady and the first thing she asked me was if i had been there before which I had not. She then proceeded to explain and breakdown the menu for me and let me know about their lunch specials. I thought that was very nice of her because most places do not do that so I love the fact that they are customer service oriented here. I opted for the 2 pepperoni pizza pucks and a small soda for $ 5, I did have a free medium drink for checking in via Unilocal but I decided that I will save it for next time. The pizza pucks looked so good, almost too good to eat, ALMOST!!! Lol. The outside layer of the pucks were coated with some type of garlic herb seasoning and it was great, it gave it more flavor. The pucks were so good, I was tasted all the ingredients with every bite. Every bite had cheese, sauce and pepperoni. One thing that did concern me a little was the inside seemed a bit doughy but that wasn’t too big of a deal next time I will just notify them of it. I will absolutely be coming back to try some of the other pizza puck varieties and their regular pizza as well as their tri-tip sandwich they offer on Tuesdays. I think some pizza places need to take a page from their book and try out this new concept because it is really good and worth it but it’s just a bummer that it is a little far away from me. *Oh btw they do have a drive thru*
