For a first time visit, I was so disappointed. They sat us down right away and we were able to make a choice quickly. They took our order and brought us a basket of fresh chips and salsa. 30 minutes passes and we notice how 2 families that sat down and ordered after us were receiving their food. Our server sees that we are not eating and checks with the kitchen. They hadn’t even started making our orders! We told them to cancel it all. The one star is for the fresh chips because that is all I was able to try.

We love Pelayos. We always get good service and the food is really good. Every time we bring friends there, they always love it. Also have very tasty margaritas and chips and salsa.

We have only lived in Vacaville for three months and enjoy Mexican food. We have tried several restaurants that specialize in Mexican food but we seem to always return to this restaurant. We don’t know how the one on Helen Powers was but we really enjoy this one. Service is always friendly and fast and the lunch specials are a great bargain. Good food, great service and prices. Makes these Central Illinois transplants happy!

This was our first time coming to this location; we typically visit the one near Walmart, with which we’ve always been happy. I have to say that I was quite disappointed with our meal last night. It was incredibly bland. Shredded beef burritos, tacos, nachos– everything. Even the 3 salsas I tried fell short. We were bummed because our meals from the other Pelayos had always been pretty good. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

Terrible. I got up and left after waiting 20 minutes for someone to come to my table, while the person who came in 10 minutes after me was being served. The waiter was busy chatting with his friends at another table. I’ve eaten here before, so I know it’s not worth the wait. Margaritas are weak and food is mediocre at best. Do yourself a favor and get some«real» Mexican food down the street at Hecho en Mexico.

I hadn’t been to this location in over 20yrs– the last time I was here I didn’t like it. My recent visit tonight proved again why I don’t come here. We usually go to Pelayo’s on Helen Power(the cooks there are awesome!) but on our arrival, discovered they had closed! For good! My husband thought we should give the E. Monte Vista location a try(against my wishes). Upon arrival(party of 2) we were told we had to wait for a table. There were several open tables we could see. Our sever was on her 3rd day of work and didn’t know the menu or the specials. We both ordered quesadillas; my husband got chicken and I ordered pork. When they finally arrived(we had to wait a while for this simple order) i discovered they made my quesadilla with chili verde. Absolutely, they most disgusting, squishy, wet quesadilla I ever had. The service was horribly slow, the food was bad, the dining room was LOUD. We won’t be back. It’s truly a shame they closed the Helen Power location– their food quality and customer service ran circles around this place. Will not recommend, nor will we be back,

Normally I would give this place a higher rating. It’s one of the last places left for me to get Mexican food. The majority of the other popular Mexican restaurants fall off my «safe» list after bad experiences if you know what I mean. Long story short– I hadn’t realized I ordered pick up from their Taqueria by Walmart by mistake, so when my guy arrived for pick up it wasn’t prepared. Issue: they wouldn’t make the food there. I won’t eat Mexican from the other spot. Again, bad experience. It may be the same owner, nonetheless it’s not the same cook or food handlers. So, Pelayos lost my business. I’m disappointed bc there really are no safe places left for me to eat Mexican out of Vacaville, Fairfield, or Suisun.

We went in for lunch with a group of people and one child. We were seated quickly and were given menus and told about the salsa bar. The waitress asked what we wanted to drink and we all ordered. As our drinks came out they also brought out two trays of chips and salsa which was pretty tasty. We tried a lot from the salsa bar which were all good. Even the habanero salsa had great flavor super super hot but great flavor! The waitresses were very attentive and made sure we were very well taken care of! That’s one major reason I’m giving it four stars. The food was good. Not amazing but good and IDE probably come back. I got the lunch special plate a shredded beef taco and a shredded beef flauta with rice and beans I was full at the end so for the price of 7.99 I believe it was. I thought cool! That’s a good deal for me anyways. My daughter got the hamburger and fries…(She hates tortillas). I took a bite and that was even cooked nicely. My boyfriend ordered the combo plate with a burrito and quesadilla both were really good he said. And our other guests split a super burrito which they said was amazing! All in all another Mexican place down a million more to go in vacaville :)

Fantastic — our favorite in Vacaville! Salsa was flavorful — chips were warm and fresh. The waitress was friendly and attentive. My daughter had nachos and said the ground beef was a but salty, but otherwise everyone was satisfied. I had a chimichanga and my husband had enchiladas Verde with chicken. Black beans were perfectly seasoned! Rice was a little bland. Definitely coming back to this place!

Pelayo’s definitely gets a 5 Star from me. My daughter’s and I went one evening after church prayer on a Thursday and the service was wonderful and the food was outstanding. The server recommended we come during happy hour 3 – 7 pm for even better prices(I love a good discount) super burritos $ 5 not bad. We will definitely be back real soon.

Disclaimer: I’m not from Vacaville and was just passing through. I don’t understand why this place has received 4 stars. The food was very bland and the sauce for the burrito had that«out of a can» taste. The margaritas were sad … the strawberry was too sweet and the peach had no flavor at all. The 2 stars is purely for the service … especially the young blond woman that was busing tables … she was honestly more helpful than and attentive than anyone else. If this is the best Mexican food in town as some other reviewers claim, then I’m going to the next town next time I want Mexican.

At the lunch special of Carnitas Taco for 6.99. It came with corn tortillas, pico de gallo and good rice and beans. Also included a soda. Chips were served warm with good salsa and more options in the salsa bar. Pam was my server and was on her game. She was on my refills and gave me some great suggestions. Restaurant was clean and good Mexican décor. Lots of booths for private diners. Carnitas were tender and excellent. My only recommendation would be bigger portions but hey I am a big guy.

Been going here for 11 years now. Hands down best Mexican Food in town! Our favorite go-to Take-out place. Not only is the food off the hook, the prices are good! Phone-in orders are always ready in 15 min or less. Love this place!

This place is a hidden jewel. We were on our way back from the Jelly Belly Factory and were all hungry. While looking for a fast food place, the Hubster spotted this place and we whipped the car around and pulled in. The restrooms are spotless! The décor is very nice. I love the fact that they have curtain dividers between the booths so you aren’t having to watch other people eat.. or deal with kids popping over their seat to stare at you. Anthony, our server, got every order perfect! Their salsa bar has a great variety to choose from. I’m in love with the chipotle salsa. I had the carnitas tostada, with no guac, very little sore cream, and the carnitas crispy.. it was perfect. Our girls had the special. .shredded beef flautas with brands and rice. Anthony remembered to put their guac and sour cream on the side. The Hubster had the combo lunch and chose a beef enchilada and a crispy taco. Our granddaughter had the hamburger andWe decided to split a flan dessert. … best flan ever! It was agreed by all that this was some of the best Mexican food we’ve ever had. … best of all, the prices are reasonable for lunch. Our lunch for 5 came to only $ 42! 5 solid starts

I have eaten at every Mexican restaurant in Vacaville. This one by far has the best service and the coldest beer in town. Oh yeh the food is super delicious as well. Can’t go wrong coming to the monte vista location!!!

This place gets two stars because the food was okay but the customer service is horrible!!! And because of this I will never eat here again. The servers are beyond rude and nasty. They take forever with drinks and food. Overall they need to fire their entire staff and hire nice individuals. This is not a good look for this restaurant.

I wanted to give this place a good review, I truly did. I was really excited to eat here after reading the reviews. But after reading the menu I established a few things: 1– this place is not an authentic Mexican restaurant.(They didn’t even have aguas frescas! Where they do that at!?) 2– they don’t have a very wide variety of foods and nothing sounded good enough to eat.(Mind you, I was starving!) 3– the service was pretty great. And then the food arrived. 1– the fresh chips were delish. 2– my spicy wings were far from it. 3– the habanero salsa lacked a great amount of flavor and spice. 4– the rest of the salsas at the salsa bar were not very good either and lacked spice as well. 5– the chicken chimichangas were more of a bean and cheese chimichanga with a sprinkle of chicken. 6– and it was a little pricey but did I mention that the service was pretty great?
