Watts has great home cooked food for a very decent price. I haven’t had a bad meal ever! The pies are to die for Yummy. My favorite too strawberry and rhubarb

Love Watt’s! Since the ownership change the food tastes better. The portions are perfect. The service is amazing. What a turn for the better. Prior to the change I ate there 1 time in the 15 years I’ve lived in Utica. Now I have been there 3 times in a couple months! Outstanding!

Gravy, gravy and then more gravy. They like to serve you plenty of gravy over everything. Popular local home style food that is pretty good but far from spectacular. Lots of choices and great pies. Great place to have «SUPPER» with the grandparents.

Stopped by for a piece of apple pie and a cup of coffee. Pie was fresh and homemade. Service was good for only pie and coffee. They do need to step up to the modern times and start taking credit cards.

This used to be one of the better restaurants in the area. As usually happens, proceeding generations of owner/​managers have run it into the ground. We stopped in for a quick late-​afternoon bite when the place was almost empty; came out 1 ½ hours later. Won’t waste time with details but, although the food was mostly still pretty decent (though not as good as years ago by far), the service went beyond bad. The 2 waitresses, even though they were one short, were in over their competence level; they did on occasion redeem themselves and I cut them some slack as they were polite, especially under the circumstances.
What was disturbing — and why I’ll never set foot in there again — was the owner’s shameful treatment of the workers and political rants in front of the guests. Apparently this poor little rich boy, due to a short-​handed week (no surprise why he can’t keep help, or maybe just too cheap) actually had to get his hands dirty and help out. And he let everybody know it. That the employees were also working harder and stressed through no fault of their own didn’t register with the guy. Also, one has to wonder about the integrity and honesty of a business owner whose political beliefs are based mostly on the bald lies of the far-​right media.

This place has been around FOREVER! I was raised in Newark and we’d always go to Watts Sunday after church for lunch. It’s generally pretty busy on a Sunday early afternoon (or was at the time).
This is a very «diner-​esque» type place that has homecooked meals at reasonable prices. Lots of older people come here as the place hasn’t changed in 50 years. hehe!
Side Note* When I was there this past week, there was a sign posted stating they don’t take check cards, only cash and checks. Really? Who doesn’t take check cards?
Our waitress was older and was sweet. Not sure her hearing was up to par as she heard wrong on a few things I told her, but it’s not a big deal.
This is my BIGGEST pet peeve about restaurants (and with this experience). I hate it when the salad is brought out with the meal and not before hand. Salads are meant to be consumed BEFORE the main course (unless you request it to come with the meal). For that, I had to deduct a star.
Overall, the quality of the food was really good! My favorite is the fried chicken which is lightly battered! Very very good!

I had the seafood plate with fries and cole slaw. Shrimp, clams, and cod fish fillet is what consist of the plate. The cole slaw didn’t look appetizing, but after tasting it was quite delightful. The seafood was good with a tasty batter. The only downfall was the service. I ordered iced tea and it came in a small 8 oz glass. I never got a refill. The only time I seen my server was when she took my order and when she gave me my check. I tried to call one of the other servers to assist me but I was ignored. So recap, great food terrible service.
