My dad and I went there for lunch on a Sunday. There were 3 other groups there besides us. The hostess was friendly and quick to wait on us. They have an amazing beer selection! Then the experience slowly degraded. It took over 15 minutes for the waitress to come over to take our orders. I ordered a Roast Beef sandwich on a Pretzel Roll with a pasta salad side. My father ordered a Fish Sandwich and fries. It took 45 minutes for our food to come out. The Roast Beef sandwich was very good. Pass on the pasta salad. Tasted like they put ketchup over pasta… My dad said that the fish had no taste what so ever. And my dad doesn’t complain ever. So a lunch with sandwiches took over an hour and 15 minutes. If you want a very slow paced meal — I guess this is the place to go.

7pm Sunday and only 5 tables filled and one waitress. Salad finally came but the undercooked breads took another 15 mins. No food after 40 mins. Poor excuse«only one cook». Sounded like they give this story often. Told them if no food soon we would leave. We left. Couple at next table finally got a cheeseburger after 45 mins.

I have a pretty high expectation for Italian food, being Italian and living somewhere that has pretty exceptional Italian… I was very happily surprised here, I had the pasta carbonara and was very happy.

I don’t want to go anywhere else when I am in the area. Mike M.(manager) behind the bar is the epitome of service. He will educate you about their large selection of beer and serve their food with pride. I’ve liked everything I’ve had here. Staples for me personally are the Mugsy Burger, the stuffed mushrooms, and now the Duck. The atmosphere is great, I wished I lived closer, I would go here all the time.

When you can go to the same place and eat the same thing regularly for 10 years, I think it deserves 5 stars. MJ Mugsy’s has been among my favorite restaurants since I was in High School. Despite my travels up to this point, they still have the best Reuben I have had(the secret: its on marbled pumpernickel). If you aren’t on a budget then you should keep an eye on the daily specials which, while more expensive, are a creative foray into basic American cuisine. What do I mean by «basic» you may ask? You have heard of and can pronounce most if not all of the ingredients. The MOSTIMPORTANT recommendation I can make is that you get the always endless salad! All of the dressings are house made and the Catalina style French dressing is the best thing you may ever try(though if you are a Ranch fan you won’t go away disappointed either)! The Beer selection is the largest I have found within a 50 mile radius. Mike(the owner) always has over 100 different beers available and the list is constantly changing! If you are a fan of Craft brews then this is by far the best option in town. A small aside: If you are looking for a real cigar, this is the only place in town to find them. And they have a surprisingly good selection at that! ps. My personal recommendation: Don’t go for the Italian, while not bad, it doesn’t stand up to the other dishes on the menu.

If you point your compass south of Toledo, you’ll arrive in the largely rural community of Upper Sandusky. The quaint town is the last place one might expect to uncover a killer beer list, but that’s exactly what folks find at M.J. Mugsy’s. For more than a decade, owner Mike Meeker has been educating area residents on the finer points of beer. Sample Goose Island’s 312 Urban Wheat on draft or dip into the bottle category to plumb the stellar Belgian entries. The«100-Beer Club» encourages patrons to sample that impressive number of the bar’s offerings.
