I’m sitting in the Peet’s right now and just learned the owner is closing the Lane Avenue and high Street locations. If you have any gift cards you want to cash them in the soon. Last day of operations is tomorrow, Monday!

Very good chai tea and chocolate chip zucchini bread at awesome prices. The service wasn’t wonderful, but it wasn’t bad either. It was my first time there, so naturally I asked a few questions(do you have wifi? Where should I leave my dirty dishes? Bathroom?). They seemed annoyed that I would ask such things. But oh well, still a great place and I will definitely be back.

Peet’s, the newest coffee chain in town, is actually the granddaddy of coffee houses, being the place that Starbucks bought beans from when it was a young whippersnapper. I’ve held off visiting though, because they did something that most annoys me out of new chains– their market introduction strategy, which I call Shock and Awe; that is when a new business opens up a store in multiple neighborhood all at once, making it seem that they are popular. It’s like someone trying too hard to endear themselves to a clique; it ‘s like Peet suddenly appeared at a tailgate going way over-the-top with his buckeye apparel, speaking of how he remembers«Quarterback Eddie Griffith,» and his love for«Bluto the Buckeye.» But on further research it seems the Peet was swapped in for Caribou Coffee by the holding company that owned them both; so no harm no foul. I decided it was time to check them out. The interior was what I expected, similar to the Caribou that once was there. It’s stripped down, minimalist to a degree, nothing to get a ADHD mind overloaded. It’s small, mainly a get-out-and-go stop than it is a place to hang. Colors are brown wood, muted, and neutral. It’s kept clean. No cobweb in the corner, no dust bunnies, no 6-legged criters. I ordered a large of their seasonal special: Mayan Moca. I was excited to try it; the name brought to my mind the exotic of pre-conquest civilization with a dash of apocalyptic woo. In reality it is an acquired taste. My first sip surprised me. It doesn’t taste like a normal sweet mocha, it has spice to it. This is the«peppermint kick» they describe. It will certainly spark and tingle the roof of your mouth. I wasn’t sure what to think. But as I took more drinks I slowly started to enjoy it. This is certainly something to try for those mocha fans out there. Overall I give it a 3.5 stars. It is a nice place. Welcome to Columbus Peet.

I love this coffee shop. Everyone is so friendly. I have never had a disappointing visit, which is very hard for me to find in Columbus coffee shops. I love soy lattes and have problems finding a place that does not burn my soy milk. The workers at Peet’s have NEVER burnt my soy milk. Everything I have ordered here has been delicious. Great service and delicious drinks.

Peet’s Coffee in Upper Arlington recently opened after the company’s acquisition of Caribou Coffee, which closed down earlier this year. When you first walk in you’ll notice that not much has changed. However, I miss the reindeer coffee company. I’m not saying that Peet’s is bad, in fact, it’s great. This may be surprising, but it was Peet’s Coffee that inspired the modern coffee giant, Starbucks. Needless to say, the quality of coffee lives up to it’s history. It’s solid. On my first visit, I had a regular light-roast and sampled the latte and can testify that their coffee tastes like Starbucks… but with a bit of history. If you like and appreciate Starbucks, you’ll like Peet’s. You won’t find hipsters or frappachino sucking middle-schoolers at this here. Peet’s Coffee appeals to a different crowd. Located on the corner of Upper Arlington, Peet’s is a family-friendly coffee shop. It’s well lit and has plenty of seats and tables, making it a great place to study and read. If Starbucks is Luke Skywalker and Caribou Coffee is Darth Vader, then I give Peet’s Coffee a rating of: Yoda Check out more café reviews at

I think Peet’s coffee is superior. The atmosphere is clean cut and to the point, nothing extraordinary but for me it’s great because I don’t need to be distracted by extras, Just need to study.
