Dr So Optometrist

Dr. Jimmy So is by far the best eye doctor I’ve had! This is my third year to see Dr. So and will continue to do so. He takes time to assess my eye care needs to make sure I understand his recommendations. Kudos to Janet in the office. She made it easy and convenient for me to get my contact lenses. Highly recommend this place. High fives, two thumbs up, fist pump and hurray! Professional team who gives God-​honoring service.

Friendly, fast, and answered all my questions. I don’t have insurance so everything is out of pocket and they are very reasonably priced. Phil is the man!

Dr. So is professional and has a great demeanor. Philip and the rest of the staff are welcoming and helpful. I have relied on multiple occasions upon Philip’s expertise when choosing new glasses. I have a very high prescription and he knows which lenses and frames will work for the thickness required for my lenses. My most recent glasses have temple tips that degrade because of the prescription shampoo that I use and they have replaced them multiple times free of charge! It is great to have such a wonderful optometrist in the neighborhood.

I’ve been going to Dr. So for over 10 years. I’ve tried many before him or sometimes due to scheduling, I’ve gone to others but always go back to him and always feel «at home». He’s thorough and compassionate. I’ve never had an appointment where I feel so rushed. They also have a nice selection of frames so that’s a plus.

I got my thumbs up for this place. Highly recommended if you’re looking for nice and trendy glasses. The staffs are really nice and friendly. Dr. So is the best optometrist.

I love Dr. So’s office. Everybody there is attentive to my needs and spend the extra time with me to select the glasses I need and want. I never feel rushed, and that’s very important to me.

I’ve been going to him for over a decade. In Between that time I have used other places across the US (I have had to move for work a few times) and I have yet to find service that matches theirs. I recently went back a few days ago and received impeccable service from everyone. Highly, highly recommend everyone to go here.

My visit with them was very good. Dr. So explained throughly what I need and was reasonable. Office Manager, Doctor’s brother, was very personable and know how to make it right when office staff made an error. I appreciated his friendliness and customer service. Great job!

Dr. So and Phillip were very helpful. The eye exam was informative. Found a nice pair of glasses in 2 mins and it was ready for me in two weeks. My glasses feel comfortable. Overall, wonderful experience.

I love Dr. So. Great Optometrist and the office staff are very pleasent.

Uncle Phil is the best!!! He talked so fast I hope I remembered his name right haha. Way over do for an eye check up and I lost my glasses. So I forced myself to make an appointment. Making my appointment and even with having to reschedule was easy with no hassle. The girls answering the phones were very friendly. Went in March 1^st and as soon as I walked in here was this hyper little man ready to help me. Philip let me try on glasses while Dr. So was with another person. I was able to pick out a pair I liked and he sat me down to go over payment. Super great deal on a pair of Ray Bans. Once the Dr was done it was my turn. The appointment went really fast and we talked a bit since I apparently hadn’t been in in four years haha. Once done I paid for everything and was told it would take about two weeks for my glasses to come in. Not even the end of the week and I got a call today on the 4^th that my glasses were in. YAY!!! This is my family doctor and I’ve never had issues here. Overall great experience!

Desperately needed new eye glasses, my superglued ones needed replacing BAD! Checked out Unilocal and notice right away the over 150 reviews with 5 stars! I figured that many people couldn’t be wrong. So I called spoke to Jen who was very sweet on the phone and said she would check my insurance to make sure I was good to go. Made my appointment a couple of days later. I showed up to the office with my 6yr old son and immediately was greeted by friendly smiling faces. Dr. So is a very cool easy going Doc. Makes you feel at home and is very thorough with his examination. Also wanted to thank Philip for making this process painless in all facets! Philip helped me choose my frames and gave me the best options on lenses that would fit my lifestyle and at a great price! Thanks again guys! I can’t wait for my new specs!

Amazing!!! Walked in with my prescription…1 hour later… walked out with my brand new glasses. Can’t get any faster service than that. Too many glasses to choose from and the girl as the front desk was very helpful. She went above and beyond to help me pick the right ones for me. I will definitely be going back next time I need new glasses. I’m very happy with the service and of course my glasses =)

Dr So and staff is terrific. Philp help me out alot and made me feel so welcome. The whole staff are very out going and took there time with their patients. There time was very quick witch made me even more happy about thier office. I would definitely come back and i would definitely referrer my friends and family.

I highly recommend this place. I just left their offices after my first visit and it was a great experience. Dr. So was very kind to me, and was easy to communicate with, I greatly appreciated that. The staff also was very helpful, particularly Philip. He sat down with me and went over everything very clearly. He also helped me pick out my frames, and choose what was right for me as well as being very patient as I looked around. I will recommend this place to all my friends.

Best eyewear spot to go to! The staff is exceptionally friendly and always either remember who I am or my entire family! Whenever I call, I always end up speaking with Jan and of course I always get the best of service and such great customer service when speaking with her! Phillip and Cindy are also friendly and of great service! Whenever ordering glasses they’ve always helped with what works best with my face shape, my budget, and my fashionista ways ;)
Dr​.So is very thorough with his exams and is sure that I know what’s going on. Any questions that I have are always answered and explained.
He explained what astigmatism is to my 10 year old little sister, and now she goes around teaching her little friends about her condition (which is actually quite cute)

Excellent service! This was my first time coming here and I was thoroughly impressed at the timeliness of service and the level of personal attention that I received. I arrived early for my appointment, but it wasn’t a problem!
I was immediately given the battery of pre-​exam tests and saw the optometrist immediately after. They were extremely patient as I chose my new frames (shoutout to Phillip!) and I left feeling completely at ease.
They exceeded my expectations and I will be returning here for all my future eye are needs.

Dr. So, Phillip & the entire staff have been our family’s optometrist for almost 20 years. The service is always excellent & friendly. Dr. So is extremely thorough and explains things in detail.
Philip is very helpful in making sure that glasses fit well and are within your budget. The staff have always been so good to all our family & friends. It’s a wonder family run business that I’m glad to see grow from the small shop in the Montclair mall.

I’ve been going to Dr. So’s optometry for at least 6 — 7 years now and it is absolutely the best for glasses, contacts and eyewear. Everyone is always super attentive and friendly, especially Phillip and Dr. So provides quick and to-​the-​point check ups every time.
The first time I requested for contacts, I was noticeably very nervous. At this point, I couldn’t even put in eye drops because my eyes would blink uncontrollable at any approaching object. Magically, Dr. So was able to put my contacts in without me even noticing and ever since then, I’ve been happily using contacts problem-​free! There’s a bit of a learning curve to placing and removing contacts; however, the staff allowed me to stay at the office to practice for hours and even taught me multiple methods to removal! I have now been using contacts for over 4 years with no issues.
My entire family goes to Dr. So’s and we are always excited to see Phillip as he is always amazingly attentive and always offers the best choices in eye wear fashion, even while on a budget! He provides excellent service in communicating to all the clients, getting the best deals, and showcasing stylish glasses most fitted for you. I will indefinitely return to this optometry forever!
