I had two very distinctly different experiences with Christophe’s. I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary and the meal was delicious. Our server was kind, attentive, and knew the menu very well. Just about everything was amazing with the exception of the music — incredibly random music from the lounge failed to set a good atmosphere. Then, we chose this restaurant for our Christmas Eve dinner. After being handed our menu and given ten minutes to look it over, our server informed us that nothing on the menu was available and they only were serving roast beef with assorted vegetables and mashed potatoes. We weren’t informed of this when we made the reservation. This upset my girlfriend a bit, who isn’t a vegetarian, but isn’t a big fan of red meat and was really looking forward to the other items on the menu. To top it off, the food was brought out near immediately(giving us no time to talk), looked and tasted like it had been sitting for quite some time, and all of the cuts of roast beef were incredibly rare. The price per person was also among the highest we’ve ever been charged for a holiday outing, and definitely not worth the price. I have mixed feelings about Christophe’s. I loved the food the first time, but the service and food the second time around made me really regret that I had suggested this restaurant. I probably won’t risk coming here a third time.

Appetizers are definitely better than the main dish. The snails were chewy but not slimmy or gross. The fries in the gravey sauce was very yum. I can’t remember what else I tried – but nothing was bad. The lobster bisque everyone talks about — below expectations. Maybe it was because everything hyped it up too much for me. But the lobster flavor wasn’t as strong, the soup was a little bland even with the actual lobster meat added into the soup. Main dish-scallops. VERYTENDER. grilled vegetables. TODIEFOR. As for desserts, very typical menu-rich flavors, moist, sweeeet.

What a nice and friendly french restaurant. I have never had the opportunity to try Foie gras before. So when I look thru the menu, i was disappointed to see the was no main course with it. But the waiter said he could ask the chef, and sure as he said. he bought out to me a off the menu plate of Foie gras. Pan seared in a Raspberry vinaigrette. I can not say that it was good or poorly. mainly due to the fact that I have never had Foie gras before. I was like nothing i have ever tasted before. i can not try to explain it to you. I can not. Best Service I have ever had. Plus the most expensiveness meal have had the luxury of enjoying. I will have to come back.

Apology accepted– Fresh foods, simply prepared are all any patron asks for. If a dish requires components of poor quality due to cost or staffing issues which compromise its execution then in my opinion it should’t be attempted. Even a burger joint like In-n-Out knows this so it limits its menu and hits a home run every time. . I come from 30 years in South Bay which is full of small restaurants run on a shoestring who nonetheless develop strong followings with distinct dishes which are alive and beautiful. I wish you luck and hope you have the opportunity to cook with passion and love, can’t be easy in this economy. We are fiercely loyal to the point of compulsion when our passion is met in kind. While I’m well aware that its primarily disgruntled people who post reviews as satisfied customers stay silent, it seems to me that you have an image problem here. You are free to disregard anything which deviates from your vision but I humbly recommend you figure out what you want to represent and streamline your menu with simple fresh dishes that reflect that mission. if you do people will beat a path to your door and your money and staffing problems will disappear. Good luck and original review retracted. PS. Please at least some bottled water… yuck

Hubby and I ate here on my mom’s invitation and if I had my choice I would have just walked out and taken my mom’s hard earned dollars somewhere else. The minute I saw the menu I knew it was going to be a disaster but mom wanted to try it so who am I to argue with the matriarch. The menu is completely disjointed like a teenager trying to figure out their identity. First off the restaurant makes no aesthetic sense. It looks like it’s trying to appeal to the fine dining set by using reservations to get into their high back booths with black table cloths but the four page leather bound menus had shaggy vinyl stickers across the front with many menu items crossed out in black sharpy or prices written over in blue pen. Kind of ruins the image. Second, the menu itself is such a hodge podge of items that I couldn’t tell if the place was a sports bar, a seafood joint, an Italian restaurant, or French bistro. It made no sense. The«hors d’oeuvres» were such a bizarre mix of pub food and what I’m assuming were meant to be fine dining delicacies that none of it paired with the main entres. Foie gras terrines, escargot, chips and guacamole, and chicken wings? There is a fine line between eclectic and incoherent and this crossed it. Next, is the beer foul. Their beer selection is downright horrible. Bud light? Really? I’m not sure who this is supposed to appeal to. Dale Bros was not on the menu when I dined there and Pyramid Hefe was about as good as it was going to get. If you want a good beer head across the street to 2nd St. for a far better selection. The food itself was nothing special but when you consider their price point it should be special. Hubby had the California burger, mom got the champagne crêpe, and I had the penne with samples of each shared among the table. The burger was decent but for $ 13 it’s a joke. The salmon in the crêpe must have been frozen and thawed that day because it was so overwhelmingly fishy that even a strong swig of beer didn’t make the taste go away. The worst part is the $ 18 price tag. The penne was edible but not too much better quality than what I’d get at any food court Italian chain restaurant but with a much higher price tag. I’d hit Aruffo’s instead if I wanted Italian in the IE. I’m just glad I live 40 miles away and will not be going back.

Some Of The Food Is Bland. I Don’t Care For The Lunch Menu, The Dinner Is So-So. I Don’t Think The Wait Staff Is Very Attentive and Are Not Trained Well. Took Forever To Get Re-fills On Iced Tea and Soda. Our Server Just Disappeared On Us, We Had To Ask Another Server And He Didn’t Care. They Must Have Had To Grow The Tea Leaves And Dry The Leaves To Make The Iced It, It Took Sooo Long and I Was Sooo Thirsty!!! And When We Asked For Water, What Did They Do, Go To The Store To Buy It But Then Again We NEVER Got The Water!!! Yeah This Is Our Whole Group Being Sarcastic While Waiting For The Wait Staff… The First Time I Went I Had the Pasta And It Was Just Ok, Not Worth Eating. The Second Time I Had Lunch and the Sandwich Was Dry And Awful. The Third Time I Went For The Music and it was the ONLY Saving Grace Of The evening. The Food Was Bad!!! Been There 3 Different times and All Times It Was A Disappointment. Waste Of Money… I Should Have Insisted To My Friends NOT To Bother!!! Not Worth The Money. Live Music Is Good. Go For The Music NOT The Food.

Aw how i love french restaurants. My friend & I strolled in on a hot thursday afternoon around 1PM and walked up to an empty hostess stand. We sat around for 5 minutes before being acknowledged, I thought to myself, Great this doesn’t seem promising. Once seated, our waiters charm totally turned things around. He was so polite, immediately served us with ice water in wine glasses and warm french bread with whipped butter. It was crispy, soft, light, & fluffy! Man I HEART yummy french bread. He then proceeded to tell us about the specials and give some really good recommendations. With his help, I ordered the angus french burger($ 12.95). It had goat cheese, bacon, gruyère, and a persillade sauce. A little much on the bacon and the burger bun was kinda thick, and tasted almost like Hawaiian bread, so that was a little odd. The patties are homemade and I ordered it medium, but it came out well done. Boo… but overall the combination of ingredients were pretty yummy. It was also came with homemade french fries that were really fresh and crispy! My friend got the champagne crêpe($ 10.95). It had fresh atlantic salmon sauteed with shallots and baby spinach, a lemon champagne cream sauce, and baked with mozzarella cheese. The sauce was delicious and the texture of the crêpe was perfect! Since his order was a lunch special. It came with a choice of a petite caesar or maison salad. The caesar salad was very fresh, green, & well dressed. Lunch specials are available daily from 11−2PM and the menu changes every month. Food was pretty yummy. Service was spectacular. The place was pretty fancy. Upscale furniture, water in wine glasses, & all. =p Super cute location in downtown upland. Definitely will come again to try other dishes.

My husband and I went and had dinner at this restaurant out 2 nights ago. I’m just going to give you all a summary because I have mixed feelings about it, just because I’m meticulous about certain things. Appetizer we ordered: Cheese Platter — Ehh, they could do much better. 3 types of cheeses. Brie, Goat Cheese and some cheese that belongs in a sandwich not on a platter. 1 Fresh strawberry, and some walnuts. I’ve had better«at home». Not a good combination because the strawberry was not sweet at all. Main Entrée: I had the Lamb Chops, and my husband had the Crêpe with Sea Food(can’t remember the name). I have to say, both dishes were absolutely AMAZING. Dessert: Crêpe with Chocolate. I’ve had better. Way too much Nutella. It could definitely make a hole in your stomach if you get acid reflux. They didn’t have mint tea to wash it down :(They didn’t have herbal teas at all, which was also a bummer. Moral of the story– They need to pay attention to the tiny details. It makes such a HUGE difference. Let’s put it this way… this wouldn’t happen in France.

Atmosphere: It’s dark and has that«upscale» feel without the price. I decided to take my wife there on a date night and she loved it. After we had dinner, we sat in the«lounge» area to finish our drinks and listen to live music. I enjoyed that.(1 Star) Taste: I don’t remember what I had but it was good.(1 Star) Price: The prices were a little more expensive than the typical places I go to, but the environment made up for it.(1 Star) Service: The bartender was awesome. The interaction we had with her felt like we had known her for a while, which I like that. She was always there making sure we had everything we needed.(1 Star) Overall: The ambience for this place is worth it alone. The food was good. The people that go there too are nice. This is will be my once in a while restaurant I’ll keep going back to. Even though the crowd there is way older than us.(1 Star)

Very solid 3.5 but the ambiance and warm service round it up to a 4 for me. Mom and I continued eating through the many Groupons we’ve bought(since we’re practically addicted to them) and this place definitely left a good impression. Especially on mom since she wants to go back to the lounge to listen to live music and eat amaretto cake with an Irish coffee. So hey, Christophe’s did its thing with these two coupon buyers – we’re coming back, yo! I would agree with people that the menu didn’t seem very innovative but we also didn’t order many classic French dishes they serve(I’m thinking of getting the beef bourguignon next time). The closest we came to trying typical French was the foie gras which was, admittedly, very buttery and smooth. Some bullet points: * Their bread and butter were delicious! * The décor and service are outstanding. * Don’t spend an extra $ 2 on lobster meat for the lobster bisque since it didn’t add any flavor to the soup which stands well on its own. * They didn’t have French onion soup on the menu the day we were here. * You get one crêpe for $ 14 but it is huge and filled to the brim. * The sweet chili sauce served with Cajun salmon is suspiciously reminiscent of the $ 1.99 Vietnamese bottled sauce you can get at any Asian store and which you usually get with eggrolls but with a little more body and bite. Which is still excellent because I freaking love that sauce, but I’m note sure how French it is. * Amaretto cake is a knockout of a dessert – I could easily have had two slices on my own. They don’t make it there, though, since their only in-house made dessert are the sweet crepes(which I’m also planning to try next time) but hey, you gotta have good taste to get this stuff to your customers, so big kudos for that! The bill for the two of us was about $ 80 before tip, which Groupon knocked down to $ 40, but that’s with some booze and sweets(and $ 16 foie gras) so it’s not prohibitive at all. They also have a special going on, plus they gave us a $ 10 gift certificate for next time. Overall, I’d say this is a very good place and I recommend it :)

Loved the lobster Bisque and the wide varities of Martinis. Live music after 8:00 p.m. The band was playing classic rock and alternative the night I was there. Will definitely come back.

Yes, this place deserves 5 stars. The décor is cute & the place is different from any other place in Upland and much different than all the chain restaurants in Rancho. So this place gets 5 stars for the following: 1. $ 5 dollar martinis that aren’t weak 2. Fettuccini Riveria — Scallops, Crab Cake crumbles & Shrimp tossed in a White Wine Lobster sauce with a sauté of Shallots & Mushrooms. Topped with Smoked Salmon & flavored with a hint of Basil(ok I took this from the website) 3. Crab Ravioli — Served in a light Tomato Lobster Cream sauce 4. Awesome service! We went on a Monday for our 5 year anniversary. It was slow and quiet, & we loved it. We loved it so much that we are using their catering department for our wedding in August! We’ll be forever be loyal customers of this place. You should definitely try it!

We had a very good Sat. night dinner date at this place, this place is very classy and comfortable, I like the décor and seating. this place is not big, not so many seats, there is a bar and lounge next to dining room, live music in the evening. we hung at the lounge a little bit after dinner, it was relaxing and romantic. this is a French restaurant, but food is inexpensive, menu selection is big, portions are just right. their bread and butter was so delicious, especially the butter! we ordered shrimp and lobster tempura, salad napoleon, fillet Mignon and creamed spinach, a bottle of pinot and vodka martini. they made a mistake overcooked my bf’s fillet Mignon, i guess they messed up the order. my bf order medium rare, they gave him a almost completely cooked steak. but they changed it right away, and the manager came to us to apologize, personally brought up the second dish. so everything was still good. out waitress was very friendly. it was a pleasant dinner experience, we will definitely go back again :)

Mediocre and regular menu is overpriced. I was so disappointed I had to wait to write this review after an extensive cooling-off period. Man-oh-man: Service: slow and slower. Food: Filet Mignon was MUTILATED and Sea Bass DESTROYED by over cooking and mediocre sauce. Atmosphere: Adorable – just wished food and service matched. So bummed. Thought I had found a cool spot.

After landing a new job my parents decided to take me out to dinner here at Christophe’s to celebrate. Now this isn’t my first time here, but I though this most recent visit deserved a review. Starting out we ordered the Chef’s beer battered fries with gorganzola cream sauce which are to die for! I highly recommend them. Our waitress’ name was Ashley and when it was time to order my mom was interested in what the special for the night was. Ashley came back and said that the chef didn’t make one for the night and for Ashley to just pick something off the menu. I find that really odd and kind of unprofessional. Anyways we ordered off the early bird menu(5−6pm) and I got the Alaskan Salmon with a spinach crème sauce and rice pilaf. I was really pleased with this dish and how well the fish was cooked. The spinach cream sauce was light and didn’t overpower the dish at all. If your in the mood for fish this is a great dish and a perfect portion. With that said our waitress forgot to bring my mom’s tomato bisque soup out which wasn’t a big deal, but would have been nice because we all wanted to have a taste… especially me. After dinner we ordered desert and got a piece of amaretto cake. WOW! This cake was everything I ever wanted. It was light and fluffy in the center with a perfect crisp on top. Served with whipped cream and carmel. Paired with coffee this was the perfect ending. All in all I was pleased with Christophe’s. Little minor issues never bother me and what is most important is that my waitress is friendly. I will be back again especially to the bar which has great drinks. EDIT: I can’t forget about the French angus burger. This is my #1 favorite burger right now. It is topped with bacon, gruyère cheese and a delicious persillade sauce. I also highly recommend this.

My husband and I ate here last night. I was curious for some months to try this restaurant so we were excited about going. Really disappointed! Food was ok I will say; but service was horrible. There was a large party celebrating a 50th birthday seated in the main restaurant. One can contribute their obnoxious behavior to all the alcohol they had drank. I cant believe this restaurant was that irresponsible to continue to serve this party, not to mention how they did not consider all the other guests that were all obviously annoyed. The irony is that they have a large banquet/party room in the back of the restaurant that sat empty for the evening. We wont be visiting this restaurant again… ok food needs good service at least! Wine list wasnt great either.

I had super high expectations of Christophe’s ever since his other place Le Bellissimo closed. I loved Le Bellissimo. It started off well, as 2 of 3 appetizers were staples at Le Bellissimo — the Baked Escargot Bourguignonne(seriously, where can you find good escargot anywhere close?) and the Toast Sampler of Bruschetta, Goat Cheese Persillade and Brie with Raspberry Vinaigrette(if you like bread, I think you’ll like this). Oh, and speaking of bread, the bread that came with dinner was superb. The last appetizer, a Carpaccio Trio(Sampler of Beef Filet Mignon in Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Lemon, Scallops in a Black Truffle jus and Atlantic Salmon infused with Dill, Lemon and Extra Virgin Olive Oil), was incredibly forgettable. The Scallops and beef were essentially tasteless. The salmon was good, but I’ve had better. For the main course, I had Christophe’s Chicken Cordon Bleu(Lightly seasoned Chicken Breast pan seared with Proscuitto and White Ham, topped with Alfredo Sauce and Gruyère Cheese then roasted). I thought the flavor was nice, but the chicken was overcooked. Also lacking the goe-ey cheese I typically associate with a cordon bleu. Nice sauce though. We also split the Le Chateaubriand(Classic cut from the center of the Tenderloin. Pan seared, roasted and served with 2 sauces of our choice(Bordelaise & Gorgonzola Cream) and 2 sides of our choice(Gratin Dauphinois & Mixed Veggies). The Veggies were overcooked. The Gratin was nothing special. The sauces were overly thick and didn’t do much for me. However, the tenderloin was nicely cooked and tender. I also sampled the Black Truffle Sea Bass(Pan seared then roasted the classic French way. Accompanied by earthy Black Truffles and a Black Truffle Sauce) and the Beef Bourguignon(A hearty French dish composed of Beef, Mushrooms and Vegetables in a rich Red Wine sauce served over pasts and topped with fried Onions and crispy Bacon). I thought the fish was pretty stringy, surprisingly so. But I really enjoyed the Beef Bourguignon. Neither of our friends enjoyed the Sea Bass, nor the Champagne Shrimp Pasta. I didn’t sample the pasta, so no comments from me there. For dessert, I was extremely underwhelmed by the selection. The lemon cheesecake was WAY too sweet. The other item I just can’t recall, and that is not a good sign. Overall, I really wanted to love Christophe’s. I think they do some things really well, but many of the dishes I sampled kinda sucked. Which, considering the price you are paying, well, sucks.

I’ve been here for lunch and dinner. Lunch has different weekly specials that have a nice variety and are competitively priced. Dinner is very good, with an upscale feel to it. You want to dress up a bit for this place, which is nice as the«City of Gracious Living» has a serious dearth of better restaurants. This may actually be the only place in Upland with a chef who can actually cook! It loses one star because the service could use some improvement as there is clearly confusion about food coming out to which table and they always seem to be «training» the new person at my table. The bar has a lounge feel. There is a wine-themed banquet room in back. Update: I’ve been back a few more times. The food is great and atmosphere lots of fun in a classy way. Service has improved though I’m still not ready to bump it up to 5 stars. It is definitely a place I’d recommend. Check out the banquet room in the back too. And yes, I still think there is cooking skill back in the kitchen.

I was a bit reluctant to try Christophe’s for a few reasons. First of all, restaurants in downtown Upland aren’t usually anything to write home to mother about. Second, this place was previously listed as having«dressy» attire, and I hardly ever dress up for dining. However, a friend and I decided to give Christophe’s a shot for lunch. We had their lunch specials: salmon pasta, and Atlantic salmon. Both were really, really good and came with a ton of salmon! Also, the service was professional, not rushed, and they served the food in courses instead of just piling it all on the table. I will definitely return again, at least for lunch, because their lunch special menu changes weekly.

Upland hasn’t had a destination-type restaurant in decades, so it’s great that this place opened up. It’s dressy enough to give a sense of occasion without going too far over the top, and the service is nice and attentive. It’s been years since I’ve had lobster bisque, and the one they have here is the closest to the best one I’ve had. I also had Beef Bourguignon for the first time, and it was delicious, besides the fact that I had always wanted to try it just because of the fancy name. Yea, I’m easy to impress that way. They have a nice selection of menu items, including a great selection of desserts, so you can get your gluttony on in many different facets.
