Buffet was slow to be replenished & all the syrup in the pop machine was out. Food was OK! Only saving grace was it was cheap!

The reviews aren’t great, it’s a Chinese buffet, what do you expect? I came for the $ 5.50 lunch buffet right at noon. There were about 5 other tables. Pretty normal buffet fair. Three kids working diligently to take money, fill the buffet, and bus tables AFTER customers leave. Everything was piping hot and tailored to Midwest tastes. Rangoon were crispy and hot, as were the egg rolls; however Rangoon’s were much more flavorful than the rolls. Egg drop soup tastes like nothing, but the hot and sour soup was great! Black pepper chicken was hot and tasty, garlic chicken tastes like the chicken and broccoli with big tender chunks of chicken. Happy family is a favorite of mine, but not here. I’m always leery of beef in Chinese restaurants, and just like most, it was chewy and weird. General Tso’s isn’t my thing, nor is it even Chinese, it’s made up American food. The lo neon was fresh and good, the fried rice was as expected in fast food Chinese restaurants. Decent array of fresh chopped veggies, grapes, oranges, watermelon that look completely untouched. The three kids promptly fill the chafers as they empty with fresh food. Self serve everything. Hand scooped ice cream and a couple of store bought cakes that look like the KFC Oreo cake. Oh! And random Cookie Crisp and Cinnamon Toast Crunch that is super stale on a small side heat lamp buffet. All in all, for under $ 6, I’m stuffed. It’s a Chinese buffet. Are they ever actually great? Nope. Is this one spot on with nearly every other one in the U.S. Yup.

Good food for a reasonable price. We stopped intending to eat elsewhere but decided to give China One a try. The hostess/waitress was especially nice and helpful. Friendly family feel and worth a stop if Chinese Food is your desire. We missed the buffet as after hours but food was fresh, hot and tasty.

Not so bad as others thought, but not really good either. Yes, you pay as soon as you walk in the door. I was a bit concerned when the cashier hollered for the cook to run out and when I entered the dining room I found out what for. He needed to uncover the buffet so I could get to the food since no one else was there. It was about 1:00 pm. A few of the trays looked like they’ve been sitting there for hours. Kinda dried out looking. I probably wouldn’t have noticed if the cook had just stirred them a little when he uncovered it. However, the few dishes I thought looked semi appetizing did not taste bad. The black pepper chicken was still crispy which was a pleasant surprise. The hot and sour soup was a little more vinegary than I prefer but also not bad. The salad items were fresh and clean, but your dressing choices were ranch or French. And yes, the bottles were room temperature. No one else came in to have the buffet while I was there, but there were several take out orders picked up. I do not recommend the lunch buffet. Maybe take out is ok. I didn’t see them collect anyone’s take out order from the buffet dishes, so I assume they were made to order. Too many other options nearby to choose this place for lunch. I picked this place on a whim as I was passing through. After checking Unilocal(after eating) it looks like I should’ve tried Payne’s sandwiches which is located directly behind China One.

You may ask yourself, «How bad can Chinese be?» To find the answer, head to China One. The food was awful, only surpassed by the awfulness of the sterile atmosphere. Some things on the buffet were so bad I spit them out after taking a bite. I think they have you pay on your way in the door because they know you won’t want to pay after actually seeing or eating their food. You’ve got two really good restaurants(York Pizza and Casa Grande) on either side of this disaster. Go to one of those.
