Alexander Reed Cleaners

I went there a couple of times. It was good. It was run by two ladies before, but this time when I got there, I found out the owners/​workers have changed. But I still trusted this store, so I dropped two coats and picked them up yesterday. They charged me $ 9 for each. Well, the short coat is fine, but the long coat is horrible! This is the first time to clean this long coat since I just bought it this spring and just wore once. But I forgot to put it in closet during the summer. I’m gonna wear it again so I took it to the cleaners. When I was picking up my coats, I pointed out a stain on the bottom front of the long coat, but the man who worked there said they cleaned this coat «very gently“because of the leather trim on it and hoped I would understand. However, after I took this coat back home, I rubbed off the stain easily with wet cloth and a liiiiittle detergent. Then, I found out two stains on the right shoulder and also cleaned them up easily. I even found out the label saying» remove it before wash” is still inside of my coat! Did they really do anything to this long coat?! They were lying to me! So I actually paid $ 18 for the one short coat!

I stand by this place, however I was bit taken aback when I picked up a dress that was being hemmed and they had tacked on an extra $ 10 for cleaning without asking or telling me that’s their standard policy beforehand, however the hem is on the cheaper side at $ 14. I’ll be trying other local places for my alterations but keep using their great cleaning services.

I’ve used Alexander Reed’s off an on over the years… both recently, and when I lived in St. Louis before, and they were Waddell’s 45 Minute Cleaners… consistently good service. They’re open Mon-​Sat from 7 – 7, I believe, so I can drop off before I go into the dealership one morning, and pick up on my way home the following day. My clothes are always sharp, creased & starched properly, and I have never had an issue with any garment I’ve brought in… no complaints so far!

Counter staff are always very professional and helpful. Their dry cleaning and shirt laundry is first rate.
