Hair in the food… not much more to say. This app says my review needs to be longer. So, here I am just typing nonsense. Once again, there was hair in our food.

I went here on the recommendation of a family member. The tea was NOT good. If the tea isn’t good, the food isn’t good. VEGETARIANS: NOVEGETARIANOPTIONS. I was extremely disappointed that I could order vegetable enchiladas but they came with beans that have bacon in them?! What was the point in the first place? My mother, who is not a vegetarian, didn’t think there was any reason she would go back to this establishment. If you want Mexican food and you are vegetarian go to The Patio on Pat Booker in Universal City. Don’t waste your time or money at Las palapas in the Forum. The service was slow. The waitress was sweet, but seemed to be responsible for the whole dining room. I immediately ordered horchata, but no horchata. I will not return.

This place SUCKS! Staring with the jerk that took my order at the drive up window. I asked for a small side of cilantro only for him to roll his eyes and a response as if I was bothering him. I ordered a beef fajita taco with avocado slices and I got charged for one small sliver of avocado no bigger than my pinky. The food is decent but not good enough to endure this kind of service! Las Palapas, you will no longer have my business! Unilocalers, be forewarned!

For a while my boyfriend and I been wanting to try this place out I always felt blah about it so finally After a long day of work I said let’s finally try that place we been meaning to we’ll that didn’t turn out well, full disappointment! First they took the order for our drinks I asked for Agua Fresca well the server said they didn’t carry any clearly it was a selection on the menu. The chick had an attituded. We waited about 30 min for our food, we ordered enchiladas OMG were they nasty tasteless and the chicken was not cooked al the way. The assistant manager came over to our table and told use we would not have to pay for the order. Kids enjoyed cheese and quezo and there asada tacos. Never again will we go to this place.

So I ordered a 11 dollar taco plate to go. Its great deal for two taco’s if you live in Singapore. So it came with Mexican rice with no flavor, oh and it had a green pea in it maybe two. But who’s counting? Also it came with some green goo that look like baby excrement on gerber pea purée day, it didn’t taste anything like guacamole almost closer to a banana. Weird. It had no cilantro, tomatoes or onion. it was whipped into submission and runny. Poor avocado. The tortillas were homemade always a plus to bad everything in it ruined them. The picante sauce was sub par to Pace brand picante sauce you get at all fine Heb’s but that isn’t saying much. I’m really surprised that didn’t make a little cheese wiz flower with the side it would of been on par with everything else. but who am I kidding that’s to much work involved. The Charro beans tasted like bacon soup. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing(I love bacon). But yet again no flavor other than bacon. I was mighty proud that they put chopped onion in it. They’re trying. So the beef, again had no flavor, it looked to be microwaved, very dry and chewy and a little under cooked. also found a few pieces of hard gristle with my teeth, very pleasant surprise to say the least. So yeah it was a experience, should of known better than to expect much in the forum shopping center. Its a quantity not quality kind of place. So I feel no love went into the cooking. kinda reminds me of taco bell and the cook is a angry high school kid who hates his life. So if your dating someone and your looking for a way out. Take them on a date to Las Palapas. And order extra gristle with your tacos. Since they had no problem serving it to me. And tell them its your favorite place. I think you’ll be single in no time.

I was told it was 24⁄7 a week prior so I went in late and was told that they were closed at 10. Choose one!

I would give this place no stars if it were possible. First off, once we sat down, it took our server 5 minutes to bring us our drinks. The soda ordered was flat and the apple juice had something floating in it. We had to ask for chips after 10 minutes of waiting and they were stale. As we sat there for 40 minutes, our terrible server, Rossey, came and told us that it would be at least another 5 minutes. So we decided to leave… my husband went to talk to the manager and she was not apologetic at all… in fact she told him that the order was only put in 15 minutes ago… umm, we were sitting there for 40 minutes. Never again, terrible! !!

We ate there on Memorial Day. It was mediocre at best. Nothing about it stood out, and it is definitely not a place that I would go out my way to eat at again. One of our party had a black hair in the salsa. I had the small fajita tacos which were about what I ate at Taco Cabana the week before.

At register to pay, they have a refrigerator with cakes, I say I’ll take this to go. She grabs it with her hand & puts it in a to go box as she’s on the phone taking an order. She’s taking money, credit cards from people & using the phone & I’m supposed to be ok with her hand in my food. I told the Manager, she looked down & mumbled something. That’s it! No sorry, nothing! Weird.

Love the food here I think for the price and quality of food it is a really good value! Great breakfast taco selections and red salsa that complements the tacos really well. I love here how you can also get breakfast tacos after morning hours for an extra charge! There closed on Sunday’s :(

Waiter was acting strange. Beans were strange. Food didn’t taste good. Not a good vibe. Restroom smelled horrendous.

Tried this location that is out of our normal Palapas locations. The menu is the same. We were there at lunch and the special was 2 cheese enchilada plate for 2.99. We had come for puffy tacos as we love theirs but the price tempted us to change to the special. We(2) got out for less than 8 bucks, nice. I was expecting the small oval plates you get for lunch specials almost everywhere. Not here, that plate was huge. No skimping on portions either, the regular plate may have 3 enchiladas. There was more than enough food and it was the same as all the other locations, good TexMex. The home made corn tortillas are thicker than I would prefer but they are tasty. And as for the review that compares Austin Mexican food to San Antonio, EVERYONE knows San Antonio is the capital of Tex Mex, what you probably ate wasn’t Tex Mex, so don’t compare the two. that is all.

so service was nice and quick sitting. my issue now is that I have lived in Austin for three years and have had delicious Mexican food for a while. The food is bland, overly salty and not good. The hot sauce isn’t hot and the chips are too thick. I felt that I must of loved this place before because I didn’t know any better and this was the standard of San Antonio food. … well cheap Mexican food. I don’t plan to ever go back unless i happen to b in san Antonio at 3am and its either them or starvation.

Tacos I had for breakfast were okay and very average for this area, however my coffee mug had a huge lipstick stain. I am not sure how the waitress didn’t see this. I had this mug exchanged with not even a apologies. We continued eating our meal and my guest’s fork had dried egg on it. It was so bad that some of the new food was stuck to it. My suggestion is that the dishwasher has higher standards to follow.

This is your average Mexican restaurant. I like this place simply because they have a drive through, a large selection and they have good hours.

Palapas is best when it’s what’s still open or you’re craving the way they do a certain thing. Tortilla soup is my favorite thing at Palapas… and I like to dunk the fresh corn tortillas in the salsa. Some of my friends are all about the Norteno, which you can’t get everywhere. If you haven’t ever had a Taco Norteno, I recommend it. If you’re into huge portions, get a Macho burrito. As far as classic staples like cheese enchiladas, you may find you prefer them somewhere else.

There aren’t too many good things that can be said about my two unfortunate experiences at Las Palapas. The first one was an up close and personal encounter with horrible tasting food(I got one of the enchilada meals) and downright rude service. The second visit was due to somebody offering to treat me to lunch at the unfortunate location and punctuated by two solid days of the lovely symptoms you get from food poisoning. I really cannot say anything good about the restaurant and I’ve wondered ever since my visits what could possibly entice enough people to voluntarily go there to keep not just one location in business but multiple locations. Save yourself the time, money, opportunity and possibly health by going somewhere else.

Easily one of the best Palapas location around(they all seem to be a bit different from eachother). This location has consistently great salsas and great service. The ‘queso’ is soupy here though, I’m told. There’s a few things they should really just take off the menu(I’m looking at YOU, crappy fish tacos!), but otherwise this is straight up TexMex at fair prices.
