In general this is an older theater. It was a Cineplex Odeon when I first moved to LA. There have been numerous remodeling since back then — but by far the best addition has been the IMAX, which is still one of the biggest screens in the city.
Pluses are — this is located in the heart of Universal CityWalk which has lots of places to eat and drink and a handful of stores to browse and shop. Another plus is that there is a game area on the first floor of the theater. The concession stands also offer some food choices like Pizza.
Parking costs a lot — but the theater will return most of it back to you in cash.
As a bonus for pass holders and guild members… this theater accepts passes to certain films Mon-​Thurs only (including 3D & Imax movies). NOTE: this may only apply during awards season — I’m not sure.
