For years this has been our«Chinese Food NON Buffet» place. The other day we went for lunch and as I grabbed the chair it was sticky, then as I sat down at the table the table top was sticky. Now on to the food: It was Ummm okay, the Egg Drop soup was watered down and it had no flavor, I had to add a lot of pepper to give it a lil sumptin sumptin. Then the waitress dropped half the lil fried strips that adjoin the soup all over the table and just walked off.(NO Tip) The food came and again a lil lackluster in flavor and a lil after taste of grease on the roof of our mouths. Sorry guys but ‘SEEYA’ We be goin’ down the street to the Texaco station on 78 in Converse even though it’s take out only. at least we don’t get extra over charges on sodas we have at home..

I concur with the others, I would leave no stars if possible. The food is not worth the price, and if left to the owner/cook the customer would come last instead of first. When asked to replace the fries with white rice(already cooked and should have made things easier for him) he said substitutions were not allowed??? I would say the only positive of the night was the waitress who gave us the rice anyway with hope to provide damage control. I would venture to say the only thing keeping this restaurant alive is the nearby Air Force Base, and those who do not care about eating good food and having good service.

Strolled into this joint craving some«gook» food today and was sadly disappointed, although the portions will cover your over weight in-laws the quality just isn’t there! Atmosphere was typical to Chinese dining minus the techno music.

I went there the first time today, I ordered the broccoli beef and in the middle of eating my lunch I discovered a partially chopped worm in my food. Eeek I’m not going back there any time soon. I do not recommend them to anyone if I could give them no stars I would it was a waste of $ 8

Good amount of food for the price. Only one vegetarian option. Lunch menu is served from 11am to 5pm. We arrived around 4:15pm and got our food quickly. My boyfriend ordered the sweet and sour chicken and it was a lot of chicken. The fried rice was rather plain with only a little egg in it and no vegetables that I could see. Quite a bit of vegetables in the veggie delight: snap peas, baby corn, bamboo shoots, fresh mushrooms, carrots, and water chestnuts. Exterior of the building and parking lot could be spruced up. Interior looks nice. Bathroom was clean but old with grit worn in spots.

China Moon has been a local favorite for years. Located in a small building right on Pat Booker, the place is tiny but does good business and stays busy during lunch and dinner time. They have a wide selection of meals to choose from on the menu. Special combination platters will run you 6 or 7 bucks(not bad). Or go with the Chef’s Specials in the $ 10-$ 12 range(still not breaking the bank). And of course you can also get your food by the Pt. or Qt. Pork, beef, seafood, chicken and vegetables — the choices are yours and the portions are large. I like the Pepper steak with onions or chicken with garlic sauce. Always neat, clean and quiet, you can’t go wrong dining by the China Moon-light.

Small, but busy. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. Very good food, recommended for a quick meal. Best WonTon soup I have had in quite awhile.

The staff is rude and do not know how to provide good customer service. We’ve been eating here for years and have experienced the decline in customer service and quality of food. After this evening’s experience we will never go back. We live a little ways away and placed a large to go order. My husband repeated his order and had her repeat it back, when he got home he realized there were a few items missing. I called immediately, I was first called a liar then asked what I wanted her to do about it. No apologies or offers of replacing, pretty much told oh well. I asked to speak to the owner, told to hold then hung up on. I called back and asked to speak to a manager or owner and was told they were not there(yet she was there 30 seconds ago when I was asked to hold) She again hung up. I call back to be told she does not have time for me and to stop calling.

Our family ate here tonight & experienced the worst service. I had to get the high chair for my daughter myself. I had to get our to go boxes. Our server also kept reaching over my plate practically putting her elbow in my food. The food was average. I felt sorry for a woman who was in line to order food to go. When she placed her order the guy at the counter told her the kitchen was closed even though she had been there waiting in line well before closing time. Extremely poor customer service & we will not be returning because of our experience. Don’t waste your time here.

Food was mediocre at best(Mongolian Beef, wonton soup, chicken wing). Entrée was soupy and bland, soup, bland and not sure how the chicken was as it appeared to have been cooked yesterday. The waitress was fair to midland and the guy at the counter was distant, to say the least… Atmosphere was as expected from looking at outside of building, appeared clean in dining area. Prices were reasonable at lunchtime; however, I’ll pay extra for taste and some semblance of customer appreciation, I won’t be back.

Quality of service has been declining. The customer service at the counter is horrible. The food is still not bad for you buck but I’m a service girl. The ceiling tiles so drippings from different leaks. The door is nasty. I’m not sure when was the last time the door has been clean. The floors could use a good steam cleaning. My daughter talks about what needs to be fix. Hahahahahaahah. The parking needs to be leveled to prevent flooding. For an established business you figure they would update as they go.

The staff is not all that sociable, but rt his is my second favorite Chinese restaurant in San Antonio(China Phoenix I might be remembering the name slightly wrong, Chinese phoenix?) For under 5 bucks i all get full on an egg drop soup. My bf wasn’t feeling too hungry so we split it and it still was enough, we love this place. We found it just walking by and were wafted with a sweet savory smell. I love the lo mein, the general chicken is most popular and is the closest to panda express’s orange chicken. The battered shrimp is too heavy on bread sometimes, I guess it depends if shrimp are in season? Last time I went the waiter tried selling us photography they had for sale and that got pretty annoying, hope that doesn’t stick around, lol I’ll just order to go! Speaking of which if you do call in a to go order they will forget your soda! Gotta tell them again when you go in!

Went in for lunch, we loved the food portions for the price. For $ 5.95, I had sesame chicken, fried rice, wonton soup/egg roll. Thats a great deal. I didn’t finish my food as the portion was huge. I think it is a big deal, but i was disappointed to know that they didnt have sirracha hot sauce, no biggie. I gave them 3 stars because the food was SUPER greasy! I did enjoy the ambiance and the staff was great. I will come back, but will scrub the menu for something that isn’t fried.

I’ve been here several times and I am a bit disappointed that they choose to overdo the vegetables in every dish. The last time I was there, a friend ordered the cashew chicken, and had a hard time finding the chicken. Their beef and broccoli tastes off(the meat wasn’t very tender and it was overpowered by under-cooked onions). I have found the only thing that I like there is their combo lo mein. This is an ok place to eat at every once in a while, but nothing to write home about. As far as rude staff, I never experienced that. I rather just thought that they were more absent than rude. The only time we saw our server was when she took our order, when our food came or she brought us our drinks.

I have eaten at a few Chinese food restaurants in the immediate area and this one rates at the top for two reasons, cost and taste. The restaurant is very basic looking, not the most decorated Chinese restaurant I have eaten at, but the food exceeds expectations. Lunch specials are priced very reasonable and the portion are large. If you order a two entrée combo for a few dollars more, you will need a to-go box.

We went here based off the high reviews on Unilocal and other online sites. The food isn’t even really Chinese — more of a strange bunch of fried and battered dishes served over rice. I ordered the beef and broccoli and it was more like fajita strips covered in Karo sauce. My wife had the lemon fish, which was a gigantic fried fish fillet. The soda came in cans and couldn’t be refilled. The only decent item was the egg rolls. What’s worse was the portions were gigantic. Even the plates were abnormally large to support the huge portions. It was bewildering as to what we were supposed to do with all of this food or how anyone could eat a full plate.

Universal City has six Chinese restaurants, which I find a bit perplexing. They’re the second-most popular cuisine offered next to Mexican(chains excluded). It raises two questions: why are there so many of them in such a small city?, and — more importantly — which one is the best? Brad S. investigates. Judging by looks alone, China Moon appears to be the oldest of the Chinese population of Universal City, occupying a small Oriental-style building near Randolph, complete with Chinese characters on the sign along with broken English(«Chinese Food — Also To Go»). The interior is peppered with Asian decoration, along with a couple dozen tables and a length of counter near the kitchen to accommodate those who prefer it Also To Go. The lunch hours offer specials, and it was from this menu I ordered the Garlic Chicken, lured in by the mark of a chili pepper indicating spiciness. I always like to opt for the spicy menu items because of my love for the heat along with the tales of unbridled spice with which Asian cooking are known to provide. The lunch special is served with an order of soup(egg drop for me) and a limited selection of sides(eggroll). $ 5.50 is the price of admission, which is pretty good for a meal in general, and becomes an extremely good deal when I opened my takeout container and caught sight of the giant amount of food that was bestowed upon me. It was your standard tri-compartment Styrofoam container, with the big compartment filled to the top with the sauced meat-vegetable mixture, and a side container filled with more fried rice than should be eaten over the course of a day, let alone in a meal. Spoiler alert: I didn’t even come close to finishing everything. Unfortunately, the dish was much like many other Americanized Chinese selections: a small collection of select vegetables and meat drowned in a heavy sauce. While there was a heavy garlic smell to the dish it did not come through in the too-sweet sauce, and the oil was starting to separate from the emulsified concoction before I reached the halfway point, leaving a collection of oil in the bottom of the container. The vegetable offerings consisted of carrot, scallion, water chestnut, and onion and were combined with some Plane Jane chicken breast slices. Sadly, it was certainly not spicy enough to warrant that little chili pepper on the menu, either, leaving only a little hint of spice on the trailing edge of the palette. It was a serviceable dish, but not much otherwise. The fried rice was displeasing, tasting oily and a bit dry at the same time, as if it was prepared in advanced for the lunch crowd. Featuring only a smidgen of egg, this rice was meant to be combined in the syrupy sauce. The egg drop soup was prepared a little too simply with nothing but broth and egg, but decent nonetheless. The eggroll, too, got the job done, and was fried admirably. I’m looking for more in my Chinese food than a simple sauce and rice, though I realize that others may not be looking for similar things. China Moon offers plenty of quantity for the money, and you certainly can’t take issue with their advertising: It’s Chinese Food. Also To Go.
