Long Island Power Authority

They have the lousiest customer service I have ever seen. Even after closing the account and getting an email with a confirmation number they still send monthly bills. They are very cocky. Unfortunately there is no other utility company. It’s about time to live off the grid.
If you are not the account holder, customer service treats you like you are a dummy. No chance you can close the account or update an address etc. They are so retarded.

I wish I could give NO STARS. I called about over voltage which is popping my light bulbs and causing my monster box (which reads the 135 voltage) to shut off. Power kept going on and off all week. Complained THREE TIMES. Out of nowhere the voltage went down to normal. Thought it was fixed. Then someone shows up at my door and says «I’m here to shut your power off.» WTF! No I still live here, I am not moving and you are not doing a damn thing. They estimate meters, they ignore complaints and when you do get help it’s for the wrong thing because they cannot take messages correctly. I really wish we have a better company that didn’t have a MONOPOLY — you know that thing the government says is illegal.

First day of summer and a hot one at that. I went to the local grocer for some watermelon to chill the sense. What’s this? The entire shopping center is out of power as well as the two traffic lights at each entrance/​exit of the lot? Really, you don’t say?

Pull up to my house… neighbors have power across the street *finger’s crossed*. Then I saw my Landlord outside and knew my fate was being left in LIPA’s hands. *shuttering*.
7:15PM: Power’s back on! Yay!!!
7:18PM: WTF??? Off. Again. Neighbors still have power 20 feet away. *now imagining punching LIPA in the face (yes literally a stuffed LIPA as it would be very trying to kick that many responsible parties in the shins and I need something physical to take out my aggression).
9:25PM: Finally back on. I have missed the majority of «So you think you can dance» Thanks LIPA.

5:20PM: Alarm clock is flashing 12:15…even though I’m not home LIPA I know when you’ve done me wrong!!!
6PM: Power goes off again.

6:30PM: Power goes out. *Screaming «it’s not even F-​ing hot!!!* Apparently a transformer has been fried. Thankfully it was back on by about 8:30PM.
In short, LIPA, I think you beyond suck. I am so disgusted with this it’s to the point where I feel as if I’m losing my marbles and I don’t like that feeling. Not one bit.

It’s time to write yet ANOTHER negative review on the Long Island Power Authority and their lack of interest in keeping the power on in Coram for more than a week at a time. I find it nothing shy of absolutely ridiculous that they continuously display utter negligence on rectifying an age old problem. If we didn’t have such high rates per kilowatt, perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad… MONOPOLY.

The Electric company…
LIPA — Long Island Power Authority, (I thought all these places were trying to get words like authority out of their titles?) are the thieves, I mean, fine folks behind the exorbitant rates we pay for electric on Long Island.
Not only does the island pay the highest rates in the country, the knuckleheads that are the so-​called customer service representatives are not all that bright.
Last year, I received a humongous electric bill — well over $ 300 for one month. Mind you, my bill is normally like $ 45… so I call these idiots and merely explain there is no way on planet earth I could have used all that electric, even if I plugged in every item I own and ran them 24 – 7. They weren’t buying it and insisted that they read the meter and all was right in the their world.
I put myself on balanced billing after that in order to avoid any more surprises — and my bill was a lofty $ 82 a month for the rest of the year. Flash forward to this year and what do you think I see on the bill? A yearly summary with «expected» usage and «actual» usage. You know where this is going: I was expected to use like a bazillion watt hours but I only used my normal minimal watt hours– so $ 425 credit.
Sadly my (and everyone else’s) bill would be even half the face value except LIPA has two fees — one is the actual electric cost and the other is «delivery» charges — which are a crock of shit. The delivery charges basically double your bill and allow the thieves at LIPA to charge away rather than cut their own salaries.
So LIPA — suck it — I’m going to run the AC all summer and I’ll bet I do not use up that credit.
