We went on the weekend for breakfast. The waitress and service was great. It was a very pleasant experience. The breakfast menu is big with lots of choices. They had breakfast specials too. The food was excellent. The portions are large. Woo Hoo! The restaurant was very clean. It was a great dining experience. We cannot wait to go back. We have also had the Friday fish fry. It was excellent. The salad bar was great. No complaints from us. We cannot wait to go back.

Heading out for dinner here for the 4th time. We get the need to come about once or twice a month. Their brisket is the best I’ve ever had(moist and flavorful!) and the ribs are really top of the line. Superb smoky flavor, moist and huge!!! We eat in the bar area which is much more intimate than the general dining area which is sort of institutional feeling with very high ceilings and just a big open space. Hanging lights and perhaps moveable partition breaks would improve this quite a bit. Would have given it 5 stars if the ambiance was a little better. It’s a family oriented place and even our first time there, we were treated like old friends. It’s a keeper!

First tried this place for Father’s Day breakfast. Was so good, we’ve been back there 3 more times in the past month! We don’t eat out often, but this place is one of our top choices now. Their burgers are AMAZING!

I have not gone to the restaurant, but I had a pig roast from here. Unfortunately it rained and we could not have the pig roasted here due to the wind, cold and rain. However, Zach cooked it at the restaurant and made all of the sides that went with it! It was awesome! Our guests could not stop talking about how great not only the pork was, but everything was really fresh and good! And the price was so reasonable. And Zach it only made the food enjoyable but his service was great! If you want good food and reasonable prices to serve your guests this is the place! I will do this again! Highly recommended.

The cook should not be taking orders and judging you if you don’t eat all of it. Had a group the cook didn’t know how to do separate checks. There was one other person working but all she wanted to do was hang out with the locals that come in every day.

Went back for my second time. This time I got a pound of brisket to go, the first visit I had a quality issue with the brisket. This time around the brisket was great. The only problem I have now is making sure some of this brisket is left for when my wife gets home for work. ;)

Just cruised through on a quick ride looking for a bite. Walked in to the bar and sat down. Apparently, it was not ok to sit where we did because Dave walked passed us and clearly, and in front of us, said, «Look at these jamokes» then like a passive aggressive child mumbled under his breath more obscenities. Food wasn’t terrible but because of this asshole I will never return. Good job Dickface!

I really, really want to like this place, but they keep disappointing me. And I say this after three visits. First off, the service is terrible. I visited when it was busy, slow and somewhere in between. Each visit had the table stacked with dirty dishes, while staff/managers walked by, looked at the table once in a while and just kept going. During one visit, the bartender had one table and a group of three at the bar. She took each drink order independently of the others and made the drink and collected for it before asking the next patron, all while our food was getting cold in the kitchen window. The fish fry is served with soup & salad bar, potato, cole slaw and a cheese fritter. The soup was barely warm, and so thick it had to be left over from the previous Friday. The salad bar consisted of huge pieces of lettuce — impossible to eat politely, two or three vegetables, two pre made salads like you see at Wisted’s deli, and rolls/butter. And the bowls and plates are foam plates like you see at Jewel or any other store. The cole slaw that comes with your fish? If you want it, along with any tartar sauce, lemon or cocktail sauce, you have to serve yourself from the salad bar. It would be nice to know this before the food is served. The fish got cold while we were getting our condiments. This gave the experience a Fuddrucker’s type of feel. The cheese fritter tasted like boxed stuffing mix fried into balls without a shred of cheese in them. The cod was good, although its listed as «beer batter», the batter itself had no hint of beer to it. Nonetheless, the cod was good. The wallaye and perch, however, not so much. Both are listed as «lightly breaded», but they were served white and anemic looking. Breaded should have enough breading to give a crunch and some color, not so light it merely soaks up some of the grease to puddle on the plate. The shrimp were a good choice, although a bit expensive. The menu obviously revolves around bbq, but it must be made in mass quantity. The pulled pork tasted washed out, like it sat in a steam table or chafing dish waiting to be served. The flavor was good, but washed out. And the house bbq sauce is watery as well. Where a good bbq sauce will cling to the meat, this sauce slides between the meat and leaves the bun a soggy mess. The brisket is hit or miss, and probably depends on how recently it was cooked. Obviously the powers that be at Smithwood love meat, but there is a pretty decent percentage of the population who are vegetarian or vegan. I can’t imagine bringing a friend or family member who practices one of these life styles here. What would they eat? French fries? Seriously, I’m not asking for a bbq tofu burger, but there should be one or two options. And speaking of options, the menu is so limited I can’t imagine eating there very often. There is about 6 items on the appetizer list, 6 sandwiches and ribs. That’s all folks! As I said, I really, really want to like this place. I hope that the owners & managers of this place make some necessary changes. We need a place like this in the area, but we also need it to make an attempt to live up to our expectations. As it is right now, our expectations were sadly very disappointed.
