Barrister Cigars

If you know anything about cigars you have to check this place out. Drove over an hour to get here. Beyond worth the drive. Amazing atmosphere, great owner, and the cigar selection… Christmas came early. Outstanding!!!

Got little spot. A little divey. The owner and all the regulars are nice and welcoming. Small selection, but more than makes up for it because they only carry the best. Lots of Drew Estate, Padrons, and even Caldwells.

Great selection of smokes and the owner really has a wealth of knowledge. I will be back and plan to spend more time in the shop next time.

I travel quite a bit for work, and recently I was in NJ and decided to stop in at Barrister Cigars.
I was the first one there on a Sunday afternoon around noon. The cigar selection was decent and they had WiFi that seemed reasonably fast. The guy was very nice and helped me pick out a couple of very good cigars.
I would mention, however, that the store seemed dirty. There is a layer of filth from countless years of cigar smoking on everything from the TV remote to the light switches, etc.

Stopped into Barrister the other day to pick up a new cigar lighter. As I walked in, the place had about 4 – 5 guys, smoking in the main foyer/​entrance room watching TV. Don’t mind that at all, but the place was almost too small that I couldn’t freely pass, and had to squeeze to get to the back…
I also didn’t like that people just smoke in the entrance. The better cigar shops have a separate area, away from the entrance — almost like a separate area for those who wanna enjoy then and there. I didn’t necessarily want to smell like a puff of smoke as I went out to a nice dinner, but because of the design and layout of Barrister, I didn’t really have a choice. ALL person preference though, of course.
The manager was nice. Helped me out and gave me some good info about lighters and what he thought id like. He seemed like he was rushing me a bit, just to get back to the basketball game on TV. I get it, but you should always treat a customer properly and give them your time.
Before I checked this place out, the online videos and gallery had the setup of the store a LOT different. They had none of those wooden display cases showcasing the brand name cigars. I was disappointed not to see that, but the humidor in the back looked pretty good…
Lack of a solid layout and a bit of false advertising gives Barrister a ³⁄₅.

I am not a big cigar smoker, but I know my around a few different types and brands. Actually, within the last couple of years, I have smoked maybe two cigars. I just don’t do it anymore for whatever reason. However, this store/​lounge made me want to get back into it.
I walked in to buy a friends Dad, who does smoke a lot, a couple of cigars and I’m glad I walked into here. Doors wide open with about twelve guys sitting around watching tv, playing cards, and of course, smoking cigars. The owner instantly came over to help me out by taking me into the back room to find out what I would like. He asked me three questions and within three minutes, I had three cigars that he said, «HE WILL LOVE.»
I can’t say enough about Barrister Cigars. Great place. Great owner. This is the way cigar shops should be. Odd location, but perfect everything else.

Barrister cigars is a cigar shop where customers are encouraged to not only buy cigars, but smoke them too.
In my eyes, Barrister Cigars, is the final bastion of masculinity. It is a place where a man can come to escape the stress of work and life to sit and enjoy the finer things… a great smoke and, if you bring it, some fine liquor.
Who would have thought I would find my «happy place» so close to where I work. The cedar lined humidor offers a great selection of cigars from all over the world. Prices are reasonable and the staff is very cool. Leather chairs, ash trays and flat screens are a plenty. There are glasses in the hutch near the bathroom. Spark up, pour yourself a drink and enjoy my brothers.
