The Summit Quadplex was a pleasant surprise. I love independently-owned theaters, and the Quad is a great one. You usually don’t find these gems next to a mall or across the parking lot from a Dick’s Sporting Goods and a Panera. Like this one, they are often tucked in the center of a historic downtown, where the entire community used to gather on Saturdays to hear about how our boys were doing overseas and to catch up with the Lone Ranger or Lon Chaney. I’d love to have seen this theater in its Golden Era, way back when Union City was the urban center of the town of West Hoboken. The Quad apparently used to be only one theater, and it must have been grand. The four theaters today have made good use of the available real estate because they all still have surprisingly large screens. Big screens, cozy theaters, friendly staff — and oh yeah, did I mention it’s only 5 bucks for first-run movies? Three bucks for kids. So bring the fam — this place is great. By the way, there’s parking behind the theater on 12th St. — look for the small lot where all the spots are marked«Theater».
