Come here only if you want frozen and stale food. We ordered Pot Fried Pork Bun they charge for $ 8 and I was expecting fresh handmade bun with meat juice, but instead they served us literally pan fried the frozen bun which are dried… horrible! The veggie pot has a stale oil taste, gross! The fish soup was super fishy, which means the fish was long dead.

I’m surprised this place gets such great reviews. My favorite Chinese restaurants in the tri city were North China, then China Chili. Since both have closed, I sadly haven’t found any Chinese restaurant in the tri city that is excellent. Seems crazy because at one time Chinese was always the default food everyone would get when eating out. The food is here is bland and tasteless. Great service but how far does that go if the food isn’t good…

Yummy food. Great for the price. My favorites here are«Fish Fillet with Garlic Sauce on Sizzling Plate» and«Seafood Combination Fried Rice». The soup quantity is large — enough for a family to share and my son loves the soup here. The waitresses are friendly. Cons: Little bit noisy and congested.

I love their combination fried rice and sweet & sour fish dish. It is very affordable for chinese food, and plus they are super kind to my friends despite us not speaking chinese and being americans. I highly recommend New China for delicious and reasonably priced Chinese food!

Really good Chinese restaurant! It’s my dad’s favourite as well(: It’s not that big of a restaurant and I didn’t think it’d be good ’cause there’s a bunch of other Chinese restaurants around it. My dad ordered seafood clay pot, some vegetable, lamb with green peppers and some other dish that had tofu and beef I think. I tried everything except the other dish ’cause I’m not much of a veggie fan. With that being said, I absolutely found the vegetable dish so tasty(surprised ’cause I’m not much of a veggie fan). My favourite is probably between the lamb dish and the seafood clay pot. Both so tasty. The server was alright, she wasn’t too slow and service was alright too. Food came out pretty quickly. We spent about $ 50 which was pretty cheap for 4 dishes. Would definitely come back for more Chinese food! Hopefully it’ll be as good as my first experience.

I use to drive out of the way to come here for delish fresh soy milk, fried tofu, tofu skin and of course the cold appetizers and the assortments of veggie dishes. It’s been a while since I was there until yesterday! It’s still just as good as I remember. They were super nice and friendly even though my friend and sat there and chit chatted for hours! They kept refilling the tea and made us very comfortable. Only if we lived closer, I’d be back more frequently.

Came here for lunch with my 6 year old and he is forcing me to write a five star review. Great service and great tasting food. I grew up in Taiwan and the food here tastes like home. We ordered: — Spicy stinky tofu: very good but wish there were more tofu. — Lunch lamb sizzling plate with rice: Excellent! — Sautéed trio veggies: very tasty. — Shanghai Dumplings: my son’s favorite dish, he said it’s delicious. They also gifted a bowl of spare rib soup which was tender and yummy. Will definitely be back in the future!

Was craving Won Ton Soup so I decided to stop here. Nothing special about this place. Relatively clean. Service was good. I did order to go though. Soup was good. Ordered spring rolls also which were really good. Not sure if I’ll return though, I would like to try some of their dishes other than just the soup. One thing I did not like is they have a $ 20 minimum when using debit/credit card. I rarely carry more than $ 10 on me anymore and this time only had $ 6 in my wallet for a $ 13 bill. She let me use my card this one time. So we will see if I ever go back. Not a place I’d take a date to, I wouldn’t score any points bringing her there. LOL

Okay, first off this is not an upscale or swanky restaurant by all means, but this place has some good authentic Chinese food and especially for the value. This place is really affordable if you’re eating on a budget. I came here with my family and we ordered the following: –Pineapple fried rice –Beef chow fun –pork spare ribs with melon — cold noodles w/cucumber –beef tendon noodle soup w/bok choy– This was probably my favorite dish, since the noodles were fresh. I believe they’re hand pulled noodles and the beef tendon was delicious. I could probably eat a bowl full of that, even though it’s fattening and will clog up my arteries. The broth was flavorful. My family ordered 10 dishes and we paid $ 50 or so for our meal. Seriously, that’s a bargain for a good meal. Everything is pretty much traditional Chinese food. I’ve been here at least twice and both times, the restaurant was packed, so that’s a good sign itself. It’s a total hole in the wall in a shopping plaza. I highly recommend eating this place if you’re craving good Chinese food, especially if you’re ballin’ on a budget.

Best Chinese in Union City… Great service… As soon as you walk in, you’re given a hot tea pot! Nice treat! Ordered: General’s Chicken Sweet n Sour Chicken Veggie Plate The meat was crispy, not soggy. Great sauce on both plates. The veggie plate was so flavorful! Definitely, will be my go to place in UC!

Oh my gosh this place is so good, I came here with some friends after shopping at the daiso and I’m so happy we did, food is family style, cheap, and good, most of the menu is in Chinese and I had to ask my friends to explain a few dishes but I’m glad we went.

This place is awesome! I can’t believe I’ve lived my life without knowing about New China’s existence! This place knows how to do business by keeping prices low, and offering amazing and legit Chinese food. I still cant get over the fact about how cheap this place is! No dish is over $ 10(to my knowledge) and the portions are pretty hefty. Along with your meal, you also get free soup! Amazing! The waitresses are also very friendly. I definitely would come back again and this time, I’ll be bringing my mom!

Pretty decent Chinese restaurant. I miss their complimentary milk tea even though it’s probably powdered milk tea from Marina. Service and their shredded bamboo with pork makes up for the loss cause.

New China is a cheap lunch spot with big portions. The restaurant was a virtual ghost town. Hmm… A couple of people came to pick up food, but we were the only table occupied. Come in with an idea of what you want because the menu was enormous. We finally settled for the chicken and salted fish fried rice and bean curd with chives. The meal started with complimentary hot and sour soup. That alone was so filling already. The bean curd with chives comes with fried egg. The salted fish was scarce and a bit slimy in the fried rice. Overall, the meal was just okay, as indicated with my 3 stars, but very affordable. We had enough leftovers for another 2 – 3 meals for a total of about $ 14. There’s a deli fridge where you can buy house-made bean curd and tofu for you to make your own recipes at home. They are sold by weight but a bit on the expensive side.

I mainly come here to get the tofu, lol. the food is also good, cheap and quick! The service depends on the servers you get lol. I like getting the big bucket of «tofu flower» and making so syrup at home to eat. keke. YUMS! Protein dessert! They also offer a variety of other tofu products and noodles for you to grab from the fridge. They also have different random delicacies available, such as pig ear and etc. I will be back New China =]

When the husband and I don’t feel like cooking, spending a lot of money or driving out anywhere, we order takeout. This is the spot. We’re consistent and typically order a combination of any of the items below: — walnut prawns — salt & pepper chicken wings — tofu w/minced pork sauce — chicken & salted fish fried rice — obligatory green vegetable so we feel better about ourselves It’s cheap, fast and close to home. Done deal.

Came here for lunch on a weekday afternoon, place was deserted but little shen yang next door was packed. Thinking we’ll get our food faster, we came here. You come here for the value, $ 6 lunches and $ 6 dinner plates are A+ when it comes to my books. Portions are large enough to share and take home(unless you’re cool like me and eat ALLTHETHINGS!) They offered free meat/bone soup or grass jelly drink. The drink was OK, basically sugar water + grass jelly. Thing to always order: Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, for $ 6 you get lots of meat, although sometimes the salt isn’t distributed properly, but hey, $ 6, no complaints here! Credit card min $ 20

Five stars for unexpectedly great service and really good food. We were that large, confused, clearly non-native(to the cuisine) family that was trying to figure out its action plan for lunch-time. We told them only 2⁄4 of us were eating, we wanted take-out and needed it ASAP(had to get my brother back to his local debate tournament within a 25-minute period), but still took a really long time to decide what to order. While some of the servers seemed amused by us, the owner(?)/main lady asked a couple questions about our tastes and preferences to help us out. It was funny because she kept trying to direct us to «safe» options like Kung Pao Chicken and Lemon Chicken and told me I wouldn’t like a certain dish because only«Chinese people like it.» I knew she was well-intended but insisted that I wanted something authentic. We ended up ordering the *Yangzow Fried Rice* and *Bean Curd Strips with String Beans* and they prepared both dishes very quickly, thankfully. The food was SO tasty. The bean curd strips were not deep-fried but lightly browned and there were ample amounts of each ingredient. The lady was a little skeptical because I paid +$ to add chicken to the dish but I’m so glad I did because it made the dish even better. I am most definitely coming back here to try some of the Taiwanese food(and get mah free soup!) and intend to properly dine-in next time. Hopefully our server will be just as friendly and helpful as this lady was.

Highlight of the evening: The lady taking my order couldn’t get over the fact that I was ordering Stinky Tofu. She asked if I’ve had it before to which I replied affirmatively. I guess it’s not the most common thing for a Caucasian to order. When I was leaving she asked me if I liked it again… pretty funny. I’ve also tried the Stinky Tofu Soup before and it is good too. However, it is very oily and spicy and the fermented flavors are more prominent than in the fried tofu dish. My family doesn’t like the smell of the soup so I opted for the tofu this time and it was a great snack. Good causal place to grab a quick meal. I recommend take-out because service is just so-so. Portions are large and good for sharing. Dine-in meals come with complimentary hot tea as well as a choice of soup or jelly drink.

*Review for Lunch Take-Out* TIPS + Cash & Credit Accepted($ 20 Minimum for Credit) + Bank of America across the street if you need CASH! + Cheap Lunch Specials starting $ 5.95 + Quality and Quantity– Delish! New China is located in one of the Alvarado-Niles/Decoto Asian plazas, specifically in the same one as the Marina Food grocery market and the Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot. Although the exterior and interior is shabby, tacky, and most of the signs are entirely in Chinese, you will clearly spot their LUNCHSPECIALS $ 5.95, score! The list is so long, it’ll make your head spin! However their extensive menu does cover the basic Chinese luncheons such as Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Shrimp, Fried Rice, Chow Mein, etc. I ordered the Mongolian Beef with Rice luncheon special and since it was my first time and I didn’t thoroughly look at Unilocal prior to my arrival(shame on me, I know). I only had credit card and the lady was nice enough to charge me $.45 for the transaction since my order was nowhere near $ 20 min haha. The quality and quantity of the Mongolian beef lunch was AMAZING! It contained one hearty scoop of white rice, boiled egg, steam vegetables, and a handful of flavorful, spicy Mongolian beef. Food was placed in a regular 3-section, Styrofoam container but the amount of food was satisfying. The Mongolian beef was chewy and tender doused with spices, red chili peppers, and various seasonings like authentic Mongolian beef. It wasn’t too spicy for me(I am very tolerant of spicy ;) but you can definitely break the red chili peppers they provide and sprinkle it over your entrée. Bravo! I will be back to try other foods nomnoms
