Great espresso and Cuban pastries! So much better than the previous bakery that used to be here!

I was planning a party that I am hosting and thought. «What am I going to serve that I know will be tasty and serve all of my guest?»… «Of course food from my Cuban culture!» I thought it would be cool to serve Cuban food and share with my American friends the delicious food that I grew up with. I knew in order to do this I would have to drive north to a town I grew up in, called Union City. As I was driving through the shopping area of Bergenline Ave, I stumbled upon a Bakery called Las Cubanitas Bake Shop. WOW, was I ever happy to find this place! Such a cute quaint shop decorated in nice bright colors! It gave me the feeling of being in a small quaint town or at the beach. Parking can be a problem but after driving around a couple of times around the block in hopes I would find a parking spot, one opened right in front of the bakery. I walked in and asked if they had cooked pernil and they did! Not only did that have it, but they were fresh and cooked that same day! The owner even gave me some lechon to try and it was delicious. along with their black beans! I ordered a variety of delicious Cuban pastries for my party which brought me back to my childhood years. I had missed me some good Cuban Food. Mmm Que RIco! All of my guest raved about the food! So glad I found this place, It was a hike for me but so worth it. I look forward to coming back at least once a month.

The service and quality at Las Cubanitas is unsurpassed! This bakery is mine and my husband’s favorite spot for pastries, traditional Cuban finger food and lunch and dinner specials! As pescatarians, we are often limited in meal options at most cafés, however with a multitude of fish and vegetarian options, we always have a great variety of options at Las Cubanitas. We highly recommend this AUTHENTIC and INCREDIBLYAFFORDABLE Cuban bakery to anyone in the Northern New Jersey/NYC area!

I have been here no less than 10 times I know this place so here is my review; 1. Location, is perfect, right in the middle of a bustling commercial urban avenue 2. Exterior, is clearly and by far the nicest and most inviting of any of the bakeries/café’s/dinettes in the area. A beautiful sign outside of the establishment lets every client know were they are. 3. Service, was immediate and personable. The staff took orders in both English and Spanish with no issue whatsoever. They were nice and asked specifics about my order, nice touch. 4. Ambiance, so while I waited for my breakfast sandwich(which was superb, but we’ll get to that later), the place was immaculately clean, well decorated and there was streaming Caribbean music flowing through a television that was slide-showing(maybe not a real word, but you get the gist) photos of modern day Cuba. Perfect way to wait for my breakfast. 5. Food, is clearly what separates this place from all others. As such, let me beak it down into 4 sections
a. Breakfast, coffee is the best I have ever had, period. The toasted bread or «pan tostada» is by itself a reason to keep coming back. The breakfast sandwich was was cooked using the same grill as that which toasted the bread, I do not know if this is unique to this place, but so far it is the only place I have seen it done this way and it was really good.
b. Late afternoon meal, once was a Cuban Sandwich, which was authentic and very good. I once had a Tuna sandwich on their bread, again a solid 9/10, although my daughter would give it an 11, she loves that sandwich. A third day, they had a hot food area which consisted of steak(Flank I think) rice, beans and Yucca for 6 $
c. Bakery Items, nice selection of both pastries/cookies and cakes. I needed a little bit of all 3. The cake was moist and tasty, it was suggested to me by another customer who said I would not be disappointed, they were right.
d. Cold beverages in the refrigerator section. I was able to pick up a Red-Bull on my way out one night. They stay open until about 8PM which is also nice. 6 Price, were well under what I expected to pay. In fact, i would consider their prices to be the best in the area. I always tip and I feel as if I still I paid less than i would have somewhere else. 7 Summary, outstanding addition to this area. Good food, good service, good variety and selection. This place will get the highest rating I can give.

My apologies but I have to disagree with everyone’s positive reviews. I went to purchase 2 cuban breads this afternoon so that i could make sandwiches for dinner. To my surprise, when I sliced the bread open just an hour ago the bread had not been fully baked inside. My husband insisted on bringing it back to the bakery. Once there, he showed the employee the bread and she compensated him with two breads of another type since there was no more cuban bread. As this exchange took place another employee was going to throw away the bread and the lady attending my husband said«no, that bread is fine… just throw it in the oven and we can use it in the morning to make bread and butter for customers». My husband was mortified and when he told me, so was I. My husband had touched and squeezed that bread to show the employee and knowing what they’re going to do with it after that makes me wonder what other disgusting practices goes on there. I will not be returning there and I would absolutely not recommend this establishment to anyone!

Café con leche was delicious. Cuban sandwich was probably the best I have had in this area. Tres leche cake for dessert was the icing on the cake. Everything I had was delicious and very tasty. Not expensive priced reasonably. Would definitely hit this place up again. Super clean.
